breaking news is first at noon-- the lexington county coroner has identified the man deputies believe was shot and killed by a midlands restaurant owner on valentine's day night. he's 28-year-old arturo santos. his body was found outside a vehicle at a park and ride on corley mill road last week. investigators say he had been shot multiple times. the coroner says the mexican consulate and a family member living in the area helped identify him. lexington business owner greg leon is charged with santos' death. according to warrants, he called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers he shot his wife's lover. a rally is taking place in lexington at this hour...where people are calling for the county's top prosecutor to step down. solicitor donnie myers is facing dui charges. and in the eyes of one family who lost their daughter in a d-u-i crash --- he's now unfit to continue serving. our mike desumma is live at the lexington county courthouse where emma longstreet's parents are holding a prayer vigil.

the first of next week. winds will still be an issue today as we'll see some gust up to 30mph. today, mostly sunny, continued breezy, highs middle to upper 50s. east coast are dealing with major damage. at least 16 tornadoes were all the way to pennsylvania, leaving a path of destruction along the way. seven people have died in the two days of these strong storms including a man in the pee dee. chad myers has more. :50 - :52 1:06 - 1:09 nats another deadly round of storms pummeling states up and down the east coast. he opened the front door and he says momma tornado, tornado, and he ran and i ran. two days of storms -- over 50 tornados reported -- 7 killed -- and hundreds of thousands now without power in the last 48 hours.

the residents, miraculously emerging safely. our heart just goes out to anybody that's lost their homes or their loved ones or anything in this. that was chad myers reporting. you can stay updated any time weather systems push through our area with the wis weather app. it's free to download in your standard data and messaging rates may apply. inside the state house- the senate is gearing up for a third day of filibustering over the roads bill. beaufort senator tom davis held the senate floor all day wednesday....marking two days of non-stop speaking for the lowcountry lawmaker. but today, upstate senator lee bright will be joining him for a tag teaming effort to filibuster the bill. our will whitson is at the state house following the latest and will have updates in our later newscasts. state employees could be in for some bigger paychecks. the house budget writing committee approved a new 7 and a half billion dollar spending plan wednesday. under the plan, income taxes would be cut and most state employees would get a 1-percent pay raise.

through 12 education also includes a 2-percent cost-of-living pay bump for teachers. the committee hopes to wrap up its work today. the full house and senate must approve the plan before the budget takes effect on july 1st. ahead of super tuesday, the republican candidates for president are preparing for a showdown in the lone star state tonight. nevada caucus winner donald trump hopes to build on his momentum. meanwhile, senators marco rubio and ted cruz are locked in a fierce battle for second place. joining them at the cnn-moderated debate in houston will be john kasich and ben carson. it starts at 8:30. on the democratic side...hillary clinton is trying to sure up her support in south carolina ahead of saturday's primary. clinton picked up an endorsement from senate minority leader harry reid wednesday. during a rally in sumter at morris college, clinton talked about uniting the country -- and she also took the opportunity to attack ted cruz over social security issues. "and i've taken a stand against the privatization of social security which is something the republicans are always pushing.

called social security a ponzi scheme. you know, it's one of the most important social programs that our country has ever put in place." while hillary will not have a stop in the midlands today....her husband, former president bill clinton will. as part of a get out the vote push that will take him from the upstate to the lowcountry, clinton will stop in winnsboro tonight. he's expected to speak at the fairfield middle school gymnasium at 7:45. his tour through the palmetto state will continue on friday-- when he'll make stops in aiken and blufft. looking ahead to tomorrow, both democratic candidates will be back in the midlands campaigning. hillary clinton will host an hbcu rally at south carolina state university. doors open at 3:15. the event is expected to start at 4:45. after that, hillary and bill will kick off the "get out and vote rally" at boyd plaza at the corner of hampton & main street. that event will start at 8.

anyone with information on where cornish is is asked to call crimestoppers at 1-888- crime-sc the man who owned a company that manufactured internet "sweepstakes" machines, now considered illegal in south carolina, has been sentenced. l.w. flynn, who ran magic minutes, received 15 months in prison and was ordered to pay more than 250-thousand in restitution to the federal government. flynn entered a guilty plea back in august on operating a gambling business and evading federal taxes between 2010 and 2013. it was in 2013 that govenor haley signed a bill closing a loophole in the law that now makes sweepstakes machines illegal. we have an update on a fire in columbia that we first told you about this morning on sunrise. columbia fire says they still haven't figured out a cause, but know the fire started in a clothes dryer at a home on nearview avenue in northeast richland county. this is in the woodfield park subdivision right behind richland northeast high school. the fire caused bout 5- thousand dollars in

not be displaced because the fire was contained to an outdoor laundry room. people living along nursery hill road in lexington county are under a boil water advisory. the affected area is between woodvalley drive and westcott road. a 10-inch water line break was reported in that area last night. a wis viewer sent in this picture of water flowing on the roadway there. if you live in the area and are cooking until further notice. farmers still suffering from october's floods are getting some help. today, sce&g announced its support of a program called "plant it forward south carolina" the aim is to help carry farmers through the next planting season by providing reimbursements for the costs of destroyed crops and other losses. the october floods resulted in a direct crop loss of more than 376 million dollars on south carolina farms. "we are trying to step up and raise awarness at a very critical time because it is
