if the elected official has been convicted, then she has the authority to remove him from office. we'll continue to follow this story and bring you the latest developments. in the studio, meaghan norman wis news 10. we are learning--and hearing more about what happened a week ago--after midlands solicitor donnie myers slammed his car into a utility pole. the crash happened as the veteran prosecutor was making a turn off old chapin road and heading toward his house. the accident led myers to be arrested and briefly jailed on a charge of driving under the influence. in police dispatch recordings obtained today by wis news ten---the highwaypatrol indicates myers asked the agency to take specific steps regarding his wrecked 2007 lexus. in reference to that 10-50 at the owner's request, make sure you do a towed vehicle slip, also take pictures of that vehicle and make sure you log that 10-59 on the towed vehicle report.

a northeast richland county artery shut down by last falls floods, is finally open again. spears creek church road was left impassable after an upstream dam ruptured and the spears creek roared over it and washed out a bridge back in october. since then, the road has been closed forcing drivers to detour as crews worked to repair the road over the past several months. today, department of transportation officials tweeted out the announcement that the road is back open, and traffic

following last october's flooding disaster---federal officials are now flooding states including this one with new recovery funding. jack kuenzie is in the newsroom with details on the money heading to south carolina and especially the midlands. as we indicated last hour, the department of housing and urban development is allocating about $157 million for the entire state. more than a third---about 38 per cent---directed to just two midlands counties and the capital city. more specifically---lexington county receiving about $16-point-3 million dollars from hud. the city of columbia will take in just under $20 million dollars. and richland county with the largest share in this area with more than $23- and-a half million. that leaves about $96- point-8 million for the rest of the state. all of this linked to the severe damage left by october's rain and flooding. hud secretary julian castro saying the money will help with housing, economic development and infrastructure
