3 point 5 million dollars! that's the estimated cost to recount votes from the november 8th presidential election as of now, president-elect donald trump leads hillary clinton by 22-thousand votes in wisconsin. green party candidate jill stein -- who's requesting and presumably paying for the recount .. got barely

get done? the timeline is set - and the deadlines are tight - take a look. this thursday the recount is set to begin in all 72 counties. then on monday - the commission wants county clerks to submit recount results by 8:00 p.m. and on tuesday, december 13th - the commission will meet to certify results by federally mandated deadline. the 3.5 million dollar price tag for a recount in ws the initial estimate. as for how the recount will be conducted, thats still an open question. a.j. bayatpour is live at the milwaukee county courthouse with those details... the recount will be on if the jill stein campaign pays that 3.5 million dollars by tomorrow. if so, the county clerks office here in milwaukee and in the states 71 other counties will be in for a busy two

90-thousand ballots piled up at the racine county clerk's office. you dont seem too stressed out. you didnt see me a couple hours ago. as it stands, the wisconsin elections commission is letting each clerk decided how to recount their ballots. the dane county clerk says his office will do it by hand. the savings of time is not certain. thats one. and two, the accusation being made is that the machines were hacked. the benefit of a hand count is that you show thats false. hand, says a hand count could jeopardize making the december 12 deadline. obviously, if you do a hand recount, wed need a lot more room than if we just do a machine recount. in racine county, it'd be christensen's fourth recount, the most recent being the 2012 state senate recall election. she says receipts from touch-screen machines will be recounted by hand but itd be faster to do the rest with a machine. when youre relying on people to count instead of a machine thats used to reading an arrow, basically, it can take

time. there may not be a choice. the stein camp is asking a dane county judge to order every ballot be recounted by hand. it says performing a recount with the same automatic equipment that may have been attacked by a foreign government risks tainting the recount process. the clerks all agree that since voting machines arent connected to the internet, a foreign hack is extremely unlikely. christensen says if it does all have to be by hand, itll be rough, but she can handle it. we will work longer hours and either find more more people into my office. we will make it work. as it stands, christensen says shes preparing for her staff to work at least 12 hours a day for each of the 12 days clerks will have for the recount. live at the milwaukee county courthouse, a.j. bayatpour, fox 6 news. steph thanks aj green party candidate jill stein is also targeting pennsylvania and

president-elect donald trump officially won michigan's 16 electoral votes today mr. trump has called the recount a scam. you can hear more from the wisconsin elections commission when you visit fox6 now dot com or the fox6 news app. we posted the video within our story on the home page. we're learning more about today's attack on ohio state university. officials say grievances about the treatment of muslims were posted on the suspec's least 11 people to the hospital. ted perry joins us in the studio with more. ted? officials have identified the suspect as 18-year-old abdul razak ali artan-- who they say drove his car into a crowd of people and then attacked others with a butcher knife. the attack-- which started a little before 10 this morning-- injured 11 people. one of those victims is in critical condition. as the attack unfolded-- investigators say officer alan

and immediately confronted him. officials are praising him for his swift action-- saying his efforts possibly saved lives. "our officers was on scene in less than a minute and he ended situation in less than a minute. he engaged the suspect and he eliminated the threat. the suspect is doa. the investigation is ongoing. i want to thank officers for doing a great job. they did what they were trained to do." students and staff were still huddling for safety--the all clear had yet to be given---classrooms became bunkers. one grad student, elizabeth perry who attended lawrence university as undergrad--told us they got into a music room, turned off the lights and stayed quiet. initially there was conversation between people but then we decided it'd

there was still a shooter at large and it was close enough to where we were that we didn't want to be discovered by anyone with malintent. perry--who is also my niece--says the university did a good job alerting students and staff--all of whom were grateful to get the "all clear". in the newsroom, ted perry fox 6 news southeastern wisconsin -- students at waukesha's carroll university have concerns about their peers in columbus. carroll's director of public safety -- says beyond the sympathy -- there could be lessons to learn from this situation -- and the university's emergency planning team will discuss today's attack during its next weekly meeting. anytime a situation, like this, happens, you, kind of, evaluate how the things are happening, on their campus, and you would compare it to, if something similar, on your campus, happened, and how you

according to prosecutors-- 27- year-old devon kraemer and another officer were called out to a bus near 60th and donna for an unruly passenger back in march. they say-- after the passenger was taken off the bus and was on the ground-- officer kraemer shot him in the back. she says she could not see one of his hands and feared for her life. the passenger was injured, but he did survive. a racine man is now charged with three felonies after a horrific crash on friday. that crash killed a father and his daughter in caledonia. fox6's story. at age 25 levi ruchonen row-nan has his own home, a good job running pumps at the we energies power plant in oak creek.. but his life would change last friday.ruohonen told police he had some beers at a hockey game in wilson park,

meeting a friend at on the border strip club. a criminal complaint says ruchonen's truck rear ended a car making a turn.. near four mile road in caledonia. 39 year old kevin dalley was killed. his nine year old daughter emily was killed as well. another daughter, age 6 survived. he is in custody at the jail he is under watch by the mental health staff concerning his well being. tragedy. the criminal complaint says the wreckage was so bad the responding officer "was unable to discern where the truck ended and the sedan started" the officer said he broke a window with his baton to rescue those inside the victim's car. the criminal complaint says ruchonen smelled of intoxicants and had difficulty finding his driver's license, at one point he handed an officer a bottle of chewing tobacco spit instead. police say when he learned two people had died in the crash, ruohonen seemed in disbelief. the dalley family car was about to turn into a road to get to their subdivision.

man charged. in 20-10 he was given a ticket for drunk driving in river hills. he now is in jail on 50 thousand dollars bond. n racine myra sanchick fox6 news milwaukee police need your help identifying suspects wanted in connection to two armed robberies. take a look at your screen... police say these people robbed the george webb restaurant near 21st and mitchell street. it happened last tuesday night around eight o-clock. the suspects walked in -- one stole money from the register. the other two took cash and a cell phone from a customer. police. and take a look at these pictures. an armed robbery at roman's foods near 18th and kerney place. it happened around 2:30 in the afternoon on november 17th. two men walked into the store and robbed two workers at gunpoint -- stealing money from the register. a third suspect drove a get-away car. again -- call police if you recognize any of these suspects. a former university of wisconsin- madison student accused of sexual

will be back in court next month. alec cook will have his preliminary hearing december 27th. the 20-year-old minnesota man is facing 14 felony charges and one misdemeanor hat accuses him of trying to choke one of the women. his attorneys say his encounters with the women were consensual and some of the women he met at classes. cook is facing charges that date back to march of 2015. both marquette and milwaukee police are asking for your help tracking down a sexual assault suspect. the female vict confronted by a man not far from campus. fox6's jonathon gregg has surveillance video showing that suspect from the night of the attack. it's.. the usual pace for a monday near marquette's campus. "marquette and milwaukee police say the attack happened around 11:15 saturday night and after the assault we're told suspect took off heading west." the victim was taken to an area hospital. while the suspect was spotted by several surveillance cameras including this angle from 18th and state. "just automatically contact them if you know the person's name or at least seen the person before.' police say the man was armed with a gun at the time of the incident and is advising residents to walk in groups if

kenosha county. what happens after you hit "send". tonight at ten. governor scott walker is asking the u-s department of agriculture for help with crop losses suffered in wisconsin... freezing temperatures in may led to major losses in 10 counties... a disaster designation would make low-interest loans available to producers. frost and freezing temperatures most affected apples, strawberries, and hops blossom. all the counties involved -- mainly in western wisconsin -- lost 30-percent or more. ogden and company wants to begin building a nearly 16 million dollar apartment development in waukesha next fall. there would be 122 high-end apartments in two four-story buildings. the development would satisfy a recent lawsuit settlement with the city... it was filed after an agreement between ogden and the city stalled. waukesha officials requested payments instead of property taxes that

anchors thanks weather this year fox 6 is partnering with marquette university and sharp literacy for a program called 'reading with the golden eagles' once a month the marquette basketball players read books to students around milwaukee. these visits are to encourage the extremely beneficial. the students also received t-shirts and a visit from the golden eagle mascot. 'means a lot to our kids because theyre role models for our students and our students need that positive role model in their lives.' the program also has a competition element - for the kids who read the most-- prizes will be given such as tickets to marquette games...or autographs...and other m-u swag. with winter coming quickly,

together to help the less fortunate citizens of southeast wisconsin. fox6s carl deffenbaugh has more on a plan to eliminate chronic homelessness in milwaukee county. gray skies and cool temps mean one thing: milwaukee is hunkering down for another wisconsin winter. and for hundreds of people, its a struggle to find refuge from the cold. 'its dangerous, and we want to make certain that we get out in front.' in 2015, organizations from the city and county came up with a lofty goal - to end chronic homelessness within we have already eliminated chronic homelessness by 75%. and it is likely, maybe even within this next year but certainly within the next three years, that well be at functional zero.' and to continue that promising start, officials are trying to recruit more places and organizations to serve as ?shelters.. 'one of the efforts that were trying to do as a community is to equip both faith-based organizations, community organizations, other non-profits to know how to safely open and operate a warming room or overflow shelter.' uber drivers in several cities will idle their cars and march with other industry workers. uber has said drivers in its top 20 u-s markets actually average more than 19-dollars an hour. but drivers complain of aggressive fare cuts and no accounting for expenses like gas, repairs and insurance. the 'fight for 15' movement has been going since 2012. since then, a 15-dollar minimum wage has been approved in new york, california, and washington minimum wage will be gradually increased to $15 dollars an hour in 2022. and part of that fight for 15 - hundreds of workers at chicago's o'hare international airport will strike tomorrow. they waited until after the holiday because they want the public's support and wouldn't want to mess up anyone's holiday plans. texas has become the second state in the continental united states to confirm a
