eastern tennessee. but instead of seeing the serene mountainside -- people feel hot flames and stinging smoke being pushed by strong winds. no name given: "the power went out, so it was very dark. smoke was so thick we couldn't breathe. eyes were stinging, so we just grabbed a blanket and took of running." joyce/evacuee: "we just watched a building go down in flames to the right of us and then we pulled in front of another building that wasn't on fire yet. but the firemen came and got us and i don't know who it was, but i thank him so much." homes and businesses. mayor mike werner/gatlinburg, tn: "personally i think i've lost my house. but you know, things can be rebuilt." chief greg miller/gatlinburg fire dept: "it's difficult to go out into a community and try to protect and serve others when your own property and everything that you've worked for is burning down. that's what these men and women have done for the last 24 hours." as the firefighters fight the flames -- those in shelters wonder -- what the fires will spare. gary

into the tree over there. michelle noble was inside her house on sandy beach road around 5 o'clock saturday evening... when a car plowed through her front yard. normally my boyfriend would be coming home from work or i might be going somewhere. so we were just glad that nobody was coming or going from here when she came through. mukwonago police say the driver... 48- year-old cheryl krebsbach... struck noble's mailbox... these two street signs... and this pine tree before hitting a truck head on. actually happened down there. krebsbach was pronounced dead at the scene. upon interviewing witnesses... officers soon learned the trail of damage extended over a mile away. the chief says krebsbach hit a vehicle earlier at county highways i and j... then continued driving north on i... where she struck two signs outside phantom ranch bible camp. at this point in time, there could have been several reasons why the crash took place. we are not ruling out any medical conditions and were not ruling out alcohol as

a woman in texas is taken into custody at houston's george bush intercontinental airport... when you see the video you'll understand why-- she managed to open a plane's and then jumped from the still taxiing aircraft ... into a restricted area. video and pics of the open hatch and stunned passengers on the plane were shared online. the woman has since been treated for injuries and released by authorities. it's not clear why she jumped out of the plane -- but the woman will reportedly not face any charges. a dozen troubled sea turtles rescued in cape cod are now in south carolina being nursed back to health. the

christmas tree for lambeau... and they didn't have to go very far to find it. the thirty-five foot tall spruce tree was taken from a green bay family's yard. the 30-year-old tree was cut down and taken to lambeau field yesterday. the owner of the tree says he's hoping the tree will bring some good luck to the packers...
