mequon. this happened just before 6 last night near highland and port washington. police say the pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. the driver is cooperating with police. the cause of the crash remains under investigation. a dane county judge says it is up to each wisconsin county to decide the best way to re-count election day ballots. that means some clerks will proceed with the recount by hand...others...with the help of ballot machines. deandra corinthios is live from the zeidler building with the latest they would use voting machines to recount at least some ballots will be allowed to proceed that includes the milwaukee county clerk..who said he wasn't sure he would be able to complete the recount by the december 12th deadline by hand. at last night's hearing in madison...the dane county judge agreed that the best way to determine if voting machines were tampered with... is to do a hand-recount. but she says she has to follow the law ...and a mandatory hand-recount that petitioners wanted... will not be

green party presidential candidate jill stein, as well as a representative for former democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton, called three witnesses to make their case for a hand-recount of all votes. an expert testified the optical scanners used are vulnerable to hacks. and malware... but presented no evidence that votes were tampered with. the department of justice called only one witness - a representative from the wisconsin election commission...who testified all equipment used in novembers election had been field tested and inspected. convincing evidence and that is my decision. i'm going to allow the 19 counties to do the recall the way that they intended. again, i think everyone would strongly encourage them to do the hand recount. and that is legislative function is to make the statute and this situation, i don't have any authority to decide what is the best for those counties. so that's my

let's start with the president-elect's picks for his cabinet. he announced two nominations yesterday...and we could learn of two other major appointments today. georgia representative tom price was picked to oversee the nation's health care system...and come up with an obamacare replacement. meanwhile - elaine chao has been selected to lead the department of transportation. she was a former labor secretary...and is also the wife of senate majority leader mitch mcconnel. and then expected to be made official today -- former goldman sachs executive steven mnuchin h trump's secretary of the treasury.other reports suggest that the president- elect will also announce billionaire investor wilbur ross to be commerce secretary. meanwhile - carrier says a deal has been struck with president-elect donald trump that would keep nearly one-thousand jobs in indiana. mr. trump made keeping american jobs from fleeing to mexico, a campaign promise back in february. carrier had said it planned to close two indiana plants. a union representing the workers says moving the jobs would save the company 65-million dollars in labor

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas at the white house. first lady michelle obama has orchestrated quite the display. this year, the theme is "the gift of the holidays". there are many christmas trees each uniquely decorated throughout the building. there's also fifty-six lego gingerbread houses -- one for each state and territory -- made from more than two-hundred-thousand legos! the white house gingerbread house in the state dining room is an annual a-hundred-fifty pounds of gingerbread and a- hundred pounds of bread dough on the outside. and how about this for cuteness overload. some penguins and other animal ambassadors from seaworld san diego paid a visit to rady children's hospital yesterday. rudolph was also there helping spread some christmas cheer. and an unusual situation for officers in north highlands,

lam. the animals were supposed to be on a trailer bound for la grange, california. the truck driver had pulled off the road for the night to take a nap...and during that time -- someone let the cows loose! some ended up near an apartment complex...others were reported near an r-v park. they were eventually round up by animal control. a baby goat with anxiety has found a cute and cuddly way to ease her fears. goat sanctuary called "goats of anarchy" - used to swaddle polly to try and calm her down. one day she spotted a duck costume and put it on her. polly's anxiety melted and she fell asleep. leanne posted a picture of it online..and polly went viral. leanne has plans to expand her special needs goat sanctuary so she
