saying it is the best way to determine whether voting machines were tampered with. but said ultimately it is up to the clerks to decide how they'll proceed ...either by hand...or by machine. the request for a hand recount came from green party candidate jill stein. at last night's hearing in madison...her attorneys...as well as a representative for former democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton... called three witnesses to make their case. the through line in their testimony was a hand recount is the only way to tampered with. an elections security expert from m-i-t testified that optical scanners used in wisconsin elections are vulnerable to hacks... but presented no evidence that votes were tampered with. he speculated malware could have been added to scanners without anyone knowing. a statistical expert told the court there were some anomalies with state voting results - particularly when looking at results taken from municipalities that process votes with optical scanners. "the fact that they want to do a recount using machines is their discretion, their decision. i may disagree......... but i cant put myself in their position."deandra/live

investigation. the pedestrian was taken to the hospital by flight for life. the cause remains under investigation. happening now --- clean up getting underway after a deadly storms hit the south overnight. and it has been a devastating 48 hours across parts of eastern tennessee --- after raging wildfires sweep through the area. nicole is in the newsroom with details. the flames have killed at least three people and left many more homeless. the deadly wildfires may have settled down for now in the smokey mountains of tennessee... but officials are warning heavy winds could back up... more than a hundred homes and buildings were lost in the raging fires... after evacuation orders forced thousands out of the resort town of gatlinburg. werner says: "when you've got wind up to 87 miles an hour pushing fire, i mean people were basically running for their lives." thousands are now living at emergency shelters that have been set up...while about a dozen people are getting treatment at local hospitals. and three people are dead after a line of strong storms and possible tornadoes

this is video of damage out of colbert county. emergency officials say the three killed were all in a mobile home in rosalie. another person in the home was critically injured. we're told there have been a number of other injuries and many buildings have been destroyed. the national weather service will be in the area today to survey the storm damage. milwaukee police make arrest a protesters demand a higher minimum wage. it's all part of the "fight for fifteen" movement angelica is here with more details. demonstrators walk off the job yesterday. locally -- we had three gatherings in the milwaukee area. this is one in west milwaukee. it ended in arrests. this evening -- protesters and community leaders gathered outside the mcdonalds on miller park way -- to demand a 15-dollar minimum wage. we spoke to one woman who was arrested for blocking traffic. she says people are hurting -- and it's time for a change. it was emotional to me. i just felt like a lot of people
