11. we start at eleven with breaking news.... milwaukee police are investigating the death of a child on the city's south side. it happened yesterday near 19th officials say a seven-year-old child was brought to children's hospital with multiple injuries. the child later died. police say a 44-year-old woman and a 47-year-old woman have been arrested. an autopsy is scheduled for later today. one person is in custody -- after shots are fired in downtown milwaukee. it happened around 9-45 this morning near 9th and state street. police say nobody was hit and there were no injuries. again -- the person who fired the shots is in custody. officials say the situation is

released at this time. stick with fox6 news -- on-air and online -- for any updates. and breaking news out of charlotte north carolina. the police officer who fatally shot keith lamont scott" ...will not be charged. the district attorney says officer brentley vinson acted lawfully in the shooting. 43-year old scott was shot and killed by police outside an apartment complex on september 20th. officers say scott exited his vehicle while carrying a handgun. the d-a says "all the c evidence" leads to the conclusion scott was armed. his d-n-a was on the grip of a gun found at the scene, the d-a urged the community to remain calm in the wake of the decision. a dane county judge decides wisconsin county clerks will not have to do a "hand recount" of the november presidential election instead...clerks can choose to use ballot machines. our deandra corinthios has more from the zeidler building. the judge encouraged the clerks

determine whether voting machines were tampered with. but said ultimately it is up to the clerks to decide how they'll proceed ...either by hand...or by machine. the request for a hand recount came from green party candidate jill stein. at last night's hearing in madison...her attorneys...as well as a representative for former democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton... called three witnesses to make their case the through line in their testimony was a hand recount is the only way to ensure voting machine an elections security expert from m-i-t testified that optical scanners used in wisconsin elections are vulnerable to hacks... but presented no evidence that votes were tampered with. he speculated malware could have been added to scanners without anyone knowing. a statistical expert told the court there were some anomalies with state voting results - particularly when looking at results taken from municipalities that process votes with optical scanners. "the fact that they want to do a recount using machines is their discretion, their decision. i may disagree......... but i cant put myself in their position." about 20 county clerks have said they would use voting machines to recount at least some ballots...including the clerk in milwaukee

wind: w 5-15 mph a pedestrian in serious condition after being hit by a car in mequon. last night on port washington just north of highland road. the driver did stop and called police for help. and is cooperating with the investigation. the pedestrian was taken to the hospital by flight for life and has serious injuries. the cause remains under investigation. a mother of three... now brain dead after her family says she was struck by a hit and run driver the night before thanksgiving. brittany shannon has more on this heartbreaking story.

cetnarowki's last. family members say the mother of three was struck by a hit and run driver at the intersection of beloit and mitchell last wednesday. police say she was in the crosswalk. "there was another motorist that came along saw the individual and came back around to check on her and then we got the 911 calls" according to a caring bridge web post, cetnarowski suffered a broken arm, cracked and broken ribs, a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. website, with hearbreaking news saying-quote- "we sadly announce that our sister, daughter, mother, and friend, peggy is brain dead and has passed away. her body is still supported as we explore organ donation. " "anytime you have a hit and run where someone has left the scene it becomes heart wrenching" and frustrating to police and friends... turn this tragedy into a possibility to save a life" police say the family has offered up a 25- hundred dollar reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect. anyone with information should call the west milwaukee police department. demonstrators across the country walked off the job yesterday. it was all a part of the fight for 15 movement. and some of those protests ended in arrests in west milwaukee.. protesters an leaders gathered outside the mcdonalds on miller park way -- to demand a 15-dollar minimum wage. we spoke to one woman who was arrested for blocking traffic. she says people are hurting -- and it's time for a change. it was emotional to me. i just felt like a lot of people wanted their point to get across. it was a lot of people there that were passionate about what we were doing. it was just a lot of

"i just do not find clear and convincing evidence and that is my decision. i'm going to allow the 19 counties to do the recall the way that they intended. again, i think everyone would strongly encourage them to do the hand recount. steins attorneys

a mother of three is brain dead after she was struck by a hit and run driver. police say it happened around 11 the night before thanksi the intersection of beloit and mitchell. officials say peggy cetranowski was in the crosswalk when she was hit.a caring bridge website says she suffered broken bones, ribs and a fractured skull. the driver sped off and a passing motorist called for help... "we have somebody out there that knows something about it that has fled the scene" the family has offered a 25- hundred dollar reward for information leading to an arrest. police do not have a

"i am very dependent on the nurse because if they dont provide the medication or she doesnt get medication to my daughters they will get worse and worse and they will get sicker and sicker." the american academy of pediatrics recommends a nurse

every school. but faced with budget cuts many schools are opting to have a nurse onsite only part time, or not at all. "this means relying on teachers and staff to dispense medication, treat injuries and handle emergencies." at the same time children are going to school with complex medical needs, like food allergies and asthma. so if your child needs medication during school what can you do? make sure you give explicit instructions to the person in charge of dispensing y medication. and make sure to label it clearly. "for more serious conditions like asthma, diabetes or epilepsy ask your pediatrician to submit an action plan to the school that outlines the necessary steps." for example--when a student with asthma should use a rescue inhaler - when a student with diabetes should be given insulin - or what to do in case of seizure. as for josephina she is thankful her school has been able to keep a nurse

"its so easy to get kind of wrapped up in the day-to- day of work and you know 'what am i going to do for fun today?' and you realize that theres more to life that that.

how important his 10 month old daughter is. its all about her because it cant be about me because thats just a reality and i think im surprised how, how much i love it everyday. thankfully his daughter reese isnt loved by just one parent shes adored by both of her dads...even though she was never part of their original plan. when we met i was definitely a 'were never having children' person. but as jr and charlies relationship grew they both wanted something more...to share their love for a child. so they decided to adopt. you have to be prepared to go through the emotional roller coaster because its going to happen. after not local adoption agency the couple worked with had another idea, to look outside of wisconsin, specifically in texas. they were matched with the childs birth mother right at the time of her birth which was just this past january so their waiting time was one year. it was really exciting we were on a plane within an hour and a half and we had sort of a very stressful next twenty-four hours not knowing whether exactly her birth mom was going

plan for her. thankfully the birth mother chose adoption, but she had one request, she wanted the child to be raised in a gay couples home. they are an awesome couple, they have so much love to give and they are very fun they care deeply about children about each other about their community we did not have hesitations about placing a child with them. it was a really emotional experience for everyone i dont thnk room. i was just amazed on how supportive everyone was both in the hospital and anyone we come across in texas and about a week later we were able to take reese home with us. and as emotional having a new baby is for biological parents, the feelings are equally as strong for adopted parents, but in different ways. going to the court system and having them say yes you guys can do this or when we

me because ok theyre recognizing this so it definitely is final. it certainly i think makes out house more of a home. its him its her its also our dogs too and so its really nice to feel like you develop this family with the two of us and be able to enjoy that. the bond between parent and child is strong and to jr it means... everything. oh god you made me, sorry im going to lose it. um, what do you mean to me? i dont know couldnt imagine not doing this now. i think its the best choice that ive ever thought we should do. she's part of our family and that unconditional love is just tapped into something really innate and its amazing just to feel that. im amazed by how well weve been able to work together on it its certainly been a learning experience for both of us and i think jr is a great father and im really proud of us as
