multiple times. and a standoff is still taking place with the suspect early this morning. angelica joins us from the newsroom with the latest. the officer was responding to a domestic violence call last night when he was shot. the scene remains an active situation...and the neighborhood remains on lockdown. police believe the shooter is still barricaded in a home. several people -- including children were able to get out of the house following the shooting. last night -- a procession of w escorted the officer's body from the hospital to the medical examiner's office. the officer has not been identified. we're just hours away from the start of the presidential recount in wisconsin... county clerks...election officials and volunteers...say they're prepared. deandra corinthios is live on milwaukee's south side...from the city's election commission warehouse with the latest all of the ballots for milwaukee

and key...and guarded...until 9 am...when the recount will begin. wednesday... ballots were transported from the milwaukee county courthouse to the election commission warehouse. the recount effort in milwaukee county involves more than 440-thousand ballots all together. the final decision will be made this morning by the board of canvassers, the county election commission recommends the 14 counties will use optical scanners for the recount...including waukesha and sheboygan counties 48 counties will recount the vote by hand... including ozaukee, jefferson and kenosha counties. 10 will use both - like walworth county. clerks will be keeping track of their costs - like overtime, mileage and covering temporary workers. in our area, costs range from 36- thousand in sheboygan county... to more than a half million in milwaukee county. for milwaukee county... were not anticipating there will be a wide variance in the vote totals. i dont think were going to see a change in the outcome of the winner of the election in

be certified and completed by december 12th. former green party candidate jill stein's campaign will foot the bill. reporting live in milwaukee dc fox6 news. one wisconsin conservative group is alleging the recount is illegal-- saying a candidate must claim there is reason a mistake occurred not that a mistake could have occurred. 'if there consequence of it is it might put at risk our ability to have our votes counted in the electoral college because the recount wont get done on time... i hope it doesnt happen.' the president of the wisconsin institute for law and liberty says if this recount interferes with the casting of wisconsin's electoral votes ---the group plans to get involved. but he would not get into details. officials in madison and milwaukee had a lot to say about the recount.

be on our home page. a seven year old boy is dead...and four people are under arrest. and we've now learned this isn't the first time one of them has been accused of child abuse that led to death. a source tells fox 6 the 7-year-old boy suffered from malnutrition and was abused. we are told the two women arrested met in prison. one of the women was locked up for her role in a separate child was convicted of child neglect resulting in death. according to a criminal complaint, 1-year-old bryan alston was found dead inside the suspect's home. now, thirteen years later that woman is accused in another horrific case. a source tells fox 6--there were other children inside the home with the deceased 7-year-old. a 9-year-old was also abused and is being treated at the hospital. we are told neither of the women accused are the mothers to the

the shooting death of 5-year-old laylah petersen will be sentenced today. carl barrett junior was found guilty on all four charges he faced. laylah petersen was sitting on her grandfather's lap in 2014, when bullets pierced through the wall killing her. investigators say, barrett and two other men were looking to kill a man acquitted of murdering one the men's family members. they fired into the wrong house. arlis gordon and paul farr have already pleaded guilty for their roles. barrett's sentencing is set for 8:15 this morning. parking regulations begin today! according to the department of public works, from december 1st through march 1st--most residential streets will require alternate side night parking, but there are exceptions to the rule. the department of public works offers an email and text message alert system for when you can't park on both sides of the street. if you would like to sign up - or check your street's parking rules - we have a links on our website, fox

out a series of devastating wildfires. the death toll has risen though - now at 7. officials are now looking at massive cleanup and recovery efforts. gatlinburg's mayor says there is a possibility the town could re-open tomorrow. the wildfires scorched roughly 15-thousand acres. more than 700 buildings were either damaged or destroyed in the resort-heavy area. tennessee's governor says these are the worst fires the state has seen in 100 years. meanwhile -- other residents in tennessee and the southeast are waki today. at least five people are dead after tornadoes touched down. at least three tornadoes ripped through northern alabama, according to the national weather service. and in georgia -- there were also three suspected tornadoes that touched down. two people were killed in tennessee where weather officials say a tornado touched down in polk county. coming up - millions of androids hacked. how you can protect your smartphone - just ahead. and baseball players and owners strike a deal. the changes that could be coming to who gets home field advantage for the

officer felt he was in imminent danger before firing his weapon. officer vinson's conduct is still being investigated. meanwhile -- protests did break out in the wake of the news. four people were arrested last night...after police say the protesters refused to get out of the street. the demonstrators remained mostly peaceful though. a local n-double-a-c-p leader said her organization is pushing for an independent, federal investigation into the scott shooting. they also want an investigation investigation. negotiators for baseball players and owners have a verbal agreement on a five-year labor contract. the deal was reached about 3 1/2 hours before the expiration of the current agreement. some of the reported terms of the deal include the luxury tax threshold rising from 189-million- dollars to195 million next year. there are also reports that the all-star game winner will no longer get home-field advantage

now with highs in the low 40s. when we get the sun back next. hackers have managed to infect more than one-point-three million android phones through illegitimate apps. now -- these are apps that are not downloaded from google play. the malware installs malicious advertising software that tracks users. it also installs other legitimate android apps, rating them high and fraudulentlyin blocked 150- thousand versions of the cyberattack--it's warning consumers to stay away from uncertified apps. the company is stressing to not download apps outside the google play store. a new netflix feature could totally change the way you watch your tv and movies. the company is going to allow subscribers to download media right to your device. this means you can finally keep up with the binge watching from
