of housing and urban development. the secretary of housing and urban development oversees federal public housing programs and helps formulate policy on homelessness and housing discrimination. carson is a retired neurosurgeon. he reportedly declined an offer for secretary of health and human services last month. the latest now on the election recount. judge has ordered a hand recount of michigan's presidential results to begin by noon today. and this comes as the green party is trying to force a federal court order for a statewide jill stein is trying to force recounts in three states -- including here in wisconsin. so far -- six counties have finished their recounts -- none in our area. of the 59 counties that have reported some or all of their results, president- elect donald trump has picked up about 40 more votes than hillary clinton. mr trump won wisconsin by more than 22-thousand votes. stein has raised about 7 million dollars for the recount efforts. she is expected to hold a press conference in front of trump towers to discuss the recount efforts at the

a plan is brewing to redevelop milwaukees north side revolving around the long-dormant northridge mall site. alderwoman chantia lewis, who took office in april, is announcing a partnership between the department of city development and u-w-milwaukees community solutions group. their goal is to think 'outside of the box' and explore redevelopment ideas for milwaukees far north side. many businesses have left or relocated from the area near 76-th and brown deer road...including target, pick n save, half priced books northridge site the 'gem' of all plans going forward... but it could also be the citys biggest stumbling block: the facility is privately owned by a chinese company. the city and other stakeholders will have to work around the owners current plans for their property... which include the opening of a chinese market. chantia lewis, milwaukee alderwoman cl 'we want to see something out of the box. we dont want to do with the same old same old.' the market has been talked about for years... but has never materialized. coming up - jury deliberations

a pizzeria -- armed with an assault rifle. the man from north carolina told investigators he went to a pizza parlor with two guns to investigate the so-called "pizza gate". that's a conspiracy story that the "comet ping pong" restaurant runs a child sex operation. the allegation appeared on fake news sites -- even though the restaurant's owner denied it. police say the suspect fired a shot inside the eatery...but he did not injure anyone... and he's now facing assault with a dangerous weapon charges. slapping warning labels on fake news articles. the move is an effort to root out misinformation on the giant social network. one label reads quote: "this website is not a reliable news source." the test is being conducted among a small number of facebook's one- point-seven-nine billion users. facebook c-e-o mark zuckerberg outlined a plan last month that included working with fact-checking groups and labeling certain articles as false. a scary ending for passengers aboard a skywest plane landing

a georgia man convicted of purposely leaving his child to die in a hot car will be sentenced today. justin ross harris was found guilty of malice murder last month. investigators say he left his 22-month-old son cooper in a car for seven hours in 20-14. the vehicle was parked outside the father's office near atlanta, where the temperatures reached the high eighties. police later said that harris had affairs... and that he avoid his parental responsibilities. but his attorneys said the death was an accident and they planned to appeal the verdict. harris is facing the possibility of life in prison without parole. deliberations are set to resume today in the murder trial of former officer michael slager. he's on trial for shooting unarmed black man, walter scott, in north charleston, south carolina, last year. a cellphone video showed slager shooting scott in the back while he was running away. the jurors indicated to the judge three

the forecast? meteorologist rachael kaye has the answer. the oldest christmas market in germany celebrating the holidays in a big way! check out this massive cake made for the celebrations in dresden. pounds...and is about 2 and a half feet tall and more than 10 feet long. the traditional cakes are made with marzipan, berries, nuts and cinnamon. the christmas market dates back more than five centuries. santa clauses take over the streets of athens, greece. more than a thousand people dressed as old saint nick came together for the annual charity race. proceeds of the event went to a children's trauma clinic and the reception and solidarity center of athens.

they were taking part in the annual "shop with a cop" event. the glendale police department has been participating for more than 10 years -- giving 10 students a special christmas. they were nominated by their teachers. each child was given 100 dollars to spend on they wanted...and many chose to buy for others than themselves. for officers -- it's just another way to create a relationship with children in the community.
