say mensah went to check madison park after closing. that check would be anything but routine. this squad video released monday shows officer mensah firing his gun six times. we've stopped the video before impact. five bullets would hit jay anderson. in an interview with milwaukee police homicide detectives who would be called to investigate page 35 mensah said he approached the nissan in the park. "he observed he anderson was breathnig fast as if nervous or scared....mensah"felt the driver was fakin b tapped the window, driver woke up and closed his eyes and leaned back in the seat again. ...mensah said "wake up. gotta talk to you"mensah "observed a black and silver semi automatic handgun...on the front seat. mensah told investigators he told anderson, i see the gun. don't reach for it. however mensah says anderson reached for it. officer mensah then fired. shots fired! i'm told jay

burnette-york had sex with a 16-year-old girl he met at a library. it allegedly happened just two weeks after being released from jail for a similar crime. in that case - burnette-york was out on bond for another case of exposing himself to a child. a condition of that release was not having contact with female minors without his probation agent's approval. a standoff blocks off a portion of burleigh street in milwaukee... and took several hours to resolve. milwaukee police were looking for a homicide suspect. and fortunately, it all ended peacef taylor has more fro 13th and burleigh. it started about 11 a.m. passersby started gathering after noticing the commotion... a police barricade on burleigh between 13th and 14th... an armed vehicle arrived... m.p.d. officers in protective gear, carrying shields natasha williams says she was taking it all in..even seeing detectives at the back of the house. and his wife tanya have been searching nats for a family member who disappeared in the middle of the night. my dog let me know he had to go out and use the restroom. hampton says he let barely let his 6 year old dog chico out of his sight when he heard a noise, and the dog did not return. once i called out his name, he didnt respond to me at all. hampton believes he knows who the culprit is hes seen coyotes in vogel park across the street nea and stark. coyotes are out here running around. you never think it would happen to you. but it happened to me this morning. its just sad. and it;s never easier to talk to these homeowners. matthew snorek of guaranteed gone pest and wildlife control is warning other pet owners. these type of attacks are going to be more frequent i believe this time of year. snorek says, weve just hit the time of year coyotes

projects that are facing major delays--and those criticisms aren't coming from democrats. one prominent republican said wisconsin was "dis-investing" in its roads. another questioned the d-o-t's spending on out-of-state trips. political reporter theo keith was in madison for an all-day hearing. at the capitol, governor walker's d-o-t secretary answered question after question. but he got fellow republican questioned out-of- state travel. a lemon law conference in san diego, which i guess is a nice place to visit but i dont know why we need to do that secretary mark gottlieb says out-of-state trips costs the state about 250-thousand dollars a year and his staff learns a lot. i dont know if your constituents would rather have their bridges designed by bridge engineers or legislators... i guess thats a question you can ask them too no dollar amount avoids scrutiny with a billion-dollar shortfall.

in southeast wisconsin to deal with it. walker opposes new taxes or fees to pay for roads. putting him at odds with assembly republicans. the budget includes enough money to keep the zoo interchange on track. but tuesday, gottlieb revealed that, at current funding levels.... it will take 70 years to finish six other planned mega-projects. those six include most of the interstates in the metro area. the governors made a determination that this is not the right time to raise taxes and fees on wisconsin families and asking, when will the right time be to have the conversation? this was just an informal hearing. lawmakers wont get to work on the budget until early next year. at the capitol, theo keith, fox6 news. wisconsin democrats are blasting a department of natural resources report that proposes raising state park fees and selling naming rights to park facilities. the current state budget removed

them to survive on admission, camping and trail fees. the move has resulted in a projected one and a half million dollars shortfall in the parks account. the democrats say the options could make the parks unaffordable for families and selling names won't close the deficit. university of wisconsin system regents are set to vote on giving system employees a 2 percent raise in each of the next two fiscal years. according to system officials - uw-madison faculty are trailing peers' regents are scheduled to vote on the increases thursday. four inmates die in the milwaukee county jail within six months... one in fact, has been ruled a homicide. and now an audit is underway.. the chairman of the county board of supervisors says someone needs to be held accountable. fox6's madeline anderson with the

on whether the deaths of inmates terrill thomas... michael madden... and kristina fiebrink as well as a stillborn baby were the result of inadequate medical attention... county leaders are launching their own efforts to find out. it certainly sounds like some of this may have been preventable. board of supervisors chairman theo lipscomb has requested an audit of the contract the county has with a private company called "armor" which provides medical services at the milwaukee county jail and the house of corrections. around the provision of medical services in the jail, obviously that raises questions about whether services were all provided as they should have been. lipscomb is also questioning how milwaukee county sheriff david clarke has been running the jail. so to the extent that we could find out if management had an impact on it, id like to clear that up. last week... supervisor supreme moore omokunde called for clarke to resign. clarke said in response... he's

day 6 of the statewide presidential recount... and after a slow start, waukesha county is announcing a major milestone has been achieved. fox6s bret lemoine is live outside the waukesha county courthouse with an update. waukesha county is now

city of waukesha... which is a big deal... because thats where a huge chunk of votes were cast on election day. its been a non-stop effort since the recount began 6 days ago. and as workers continue processing votes in waukesha county... an important benchmark is achieved. kn 'weve actually started the city of waukesha!' county clerk kathleen novack says... after a slow start processing towns and cities first... worker city - waukesha. crews have been preforming the recount every day from 9 in the morning until midnight. as of wednesday, that will change: kn 'were going to close up tomorrow at 10pm. we are really doing well. my conservative estimate is well be done close of business friday.' novack says theyre ahead of schedule for one big reason: this high speed ballot-counting machine arrived on monday. it can count 5-thousand

scanned for the presence of the toxic metal. school officials say a student brought a vial of a silvery metallic substance from home and a group of fifth graders was playing with it. emergency crews-- along with a hazmat team-- were called to the school. health officials say-- while they are being cautious-- there is little cause for concern. developers is looking to bring new life into a milwaukee neighborhood. the group has gotten initial approval to build a four-story apartment building near 36th and villard. it would feature 43-units... many of which will be reserved for low-income residents. it also boasts a first-floor cafe or restaurant space. developers are working to get full-approval from the city by february. milwaukee's iconic "gas light" building is undergoing some changes. the l-e-d lights inside the iconic building are being upgraded and re-programmed--

north dakota.. and one of the hardest hit areas... grand forks. the city receiving just around a foot of snow overnight... with the snow still continuing to fall. city crews working hard to help keep the streets as clear as possible... all grand forks' schools and government offices were closed for the day.

renewing a call for dakota access oil pipeline opponents to leave a camp in southern north dakota. he says there's no reason for people in the camp to put their lives at risk. and he says emergency shelters on the nearby reservation are all full. pipeline opponents have vowed to maintain the camp through the winter. they believe the pipeline threatens the tribe's drinking water, and cultural sites. a busy night for milwaukee first responders... as they were called out to cross is helping those who were displaced. deandra corinthios explains why this is the busiest time of the year for them....and how the organization is handling the extra calls. "were just ready for it because we know it is that time of year" the red cross is prepared. and milwaukee firefighters are too. they encounter heavy flames at a home near 11th and wright early tuesday morning. there were no injuries...the home is vacant. an hour later...theyre at

"what we do is make sure they have food clothing and shelter" three fires...monday into tuesday in milwaukee from the south side to the north side...to the northwest side. a busy night -but the red cross says it responds to more fires over the holidays than any other time of year. oakland fire officials say they've finished searching 90 percent of the warehouse where dozens died in a fire during a dance party. the deputy fire chief says that by midnight tonight-- the remaining 10 percent of the building will be searched. firefighters have started knocking down parts of the building that were structurally unsound. they say the debris will fall on areas that have already been searched for bodies. "we're going to continue the in continue the process until absolutely every piece of debris is removed from this building and every area has been searched." meantime - recovery efforts at the site of the fire are taking an emotional toll on firefighters. the chaplain for the oakland fire department reveals that for many firefighters this is the first time they are working an incident with so many casualties. "it's overwhelming, i think for a lot of our guys we never --

a louisiana man is back in custody-- charged in connection to the death of a former n-f-l player. 28-year-old joe mcknight was shot and killed during a road rage incident last week. the suspect-- ronald gasser-- was initially taken into custody for questioning-- then let go without charges. after public backlash-- authorities announced today that gasser would face manslaughter charges. they say they waited to charge gasser so they could find and interview more witnesses. have criticized the men and women of this organization and the strategy, decisions, that we made relative to that, tough. i don't care. butted with "we've done the right thing for the right reasons" officials say-- about ten years ago-- gasser was involved in another road rage incident at the very same intersection.
