after the milwaukee county district attorney decided not to charge the officer who fatally shot jay anderson. kim's following this in the newsroom and kim - police are taking them seriously? that's right - and police are investigating their origin. meanwhile, we're getting a look at documents from the investigation. joseph mensah-- a wauwatosa police officer-- says he saw a car parked in madison park. since the park was closed, he went to investigate. this squad video shows officer mensah firing his gun six times into the car. mensah told milwaukee police homicide detectives he the driver was breathing fast as if nervous or scared. mensah also says he "felt the driver was faking being asleep." the officer says anderson reached for a gun he could see on the passenger seat and that's when officer mensah fired, killing anderson. a gun with jay anderson's dna was found at the scene. fox6 has covered this case extensively. to read our past stories or to watch the entire dash camera video of

running back for the bears back in the 90s... was found dead in boulder, colorado. police are calling it a suicide because a note was recovered at the scene.. they have not released the official cause of death however. salaam won the heisman trophy at the university of colorado in 1994. in his rookie season with the bears in 1995, he rushed for more than one- thousand yards and ten touchdowns. salaam was 42. admitted to killing former nfl player joe mcknight during a road rage incident. this is the booking photo for 54 year- old ronald gasser. police say gasser shot mcknight after an argument on a bridge in the new orleans area. he had been released without charges after initial questioning. after public backlash-- authorities announced gasser would face manslaughter charges. they say they waited to charge gasser so they could find and interview more witnesses. normand says: "so for those who

a man hit by a car overnight is in very critical condition. milwaukee police say the 61-year-old walked into the street near hampton and appleton...and then was hit by a passing car. the driver stayed on scene. the man was taken to the hospital..and we're told he has several serious injuries. police continue to investigate. and in west allis police -- investa crash. we're told a woman was hit near 70th and national last night...and the vehicle sped off. no word on the condition of the victim...or a description of the suspect's vehicle at this time. developing this morning... multiple people charged... in connection to a murder case out of dodge county. the main suspect in the woman's murder - her boyfriend... who was also her cousin. nicole has the latest in the newsroom. police say the victim's body was found inside a pickup truck in a garage... on we go trail in fox lake. 36-year-old laverne ware junior

corpse. his mother and her boyfriend are accused of aiding a felon. police say the mother's boyfriend - vernon mickey - called police secretly from a kwik trip store to let police know ware junior... and his mother marjorie jones were "involved in a situation." mickey told police he saw a lot of blood in ware's garage... but he didn't see a body... although ware's girlfriend had been missing since saturday night. police then found the woman's body in the truck... and the autopsy ruled her death a homicide. disappeared... ware had accused him of messing around with his girlfriend. he told police ware's relationship with his girlfriend was "volatile" and that he saw what happened in the garage "coming years ago." new numbers show milwaukee county is on pace for its deadliest year ever for opioid deaths. angelica's in studio with more on how community leaders are taking the drug abuse battle to the billboards. three different billboards went up in the area--with messages about the increased totals of opioid

people break the cycle of addiction -- and view a fox6 news special on the crisis. four inmates die in the milwaukee county jail within six months... one in fact, has been ruled a homicide. and now an audit is underway.. the chairman of the county board of supervisors says someone needs to be held accountable. fox6's madeline anderson with the developing story. while investigators remain mum on whether the deaths of inmates terrill thomas... michael madden kristina fiebrink as well as a stillborn baby were the result of inadequate medical attention... county leaders are launching their own efforts to find out. it certainly sounds like some of this may have been preventable. board of supervisors chairman theo lipscomb has requested an audit of the contract the county has with a private company called "armor" which provides medical services at the milwaukee county jail and the house of corrections. someone has a profit motive around the provision of medical

questions about whether services were all provided as they should have been. lipscomb is also questioning how milwaukee county sheriff david clarke has been running the jail. so to the extent that we could find out if management had an impact on it, id like to clear that up. last week... supervisor supreme moore omokunde called for clarke to resign. clarke said in response... he's upset "i got donald j called for clarke to resign. clarke said in response... he's elected potus." lipscomb says it's not his place to tell the sheriff what to do... but he does want to launch an external investigation into the entire operations of the jail. the question is... what cooperation would we get from the sheriff in allowing that to be conducted by a third party? we reached out to the sheriff for comment on the audit last week... his office referred us to thursday's statement. reporting outside of the milwaukee county jail... madeline anderson
