it comes from the town of oconomowoc.. there has been an accident near a garage at a home near wisconsin and sawyer road.. were told flight for light has responded.. we have a crew on the scene - officials are not releasing any information yet.. we will bring you more at ten. now to a story you'll see only on fox 6 - targeted by scammers. they got away with not only money, but a milwaukee business' identity. fox 6's brittany shannon tells us how scammers are using that stolen information to defraud other companies... this is an alert for business owners. a recent scam is targeting them...and on the national level. it's

they lose money, the thieves then stole their identity... it's another day at the office for phil areddia. "38:12 very shocking" sifting through emails from potential customers. "40:00 hello sales. my name is, then its our sales managers name of the john m ellsworth company" but this is a customer employees know to steer clear of. "38:24 they could fool a lot of people" ellworth were fooled a year ago. they received an email claiming to be from a reputable company asking for a quote on products. "36:51 we shipped a small portion out and when they changed the shipping at the last minute somebody said something doesnt look right here 37:00" the goods were sent to a fake address and ellsworth lost about one thousand dollars. the apparent "reputable company" turned out to be a scam artist posing as the business. during email correspondence, they steal letterhead,

fraudulent email uses the name of a john m ellsworth employee. the scammer also slightly alters the email address. "37:51 they find out your credit application they find out all the information they need to pose as you. 57" "24:52 theyre getting better and better at using the technology to fool people and to commit fraud57" they even use fake phone numbers. we called the number scammers used on this email... "41:43 it just goes right to voicemail 44" the better business bureau advises placing orders. "22:33 take a little extra time be vigilant make sure you know who youre doing business with 37" experts say these scammers often use a template when sending out emails. if something looks off...it probably is. the best way to check out a company is to call them on the phone number listed on their website. on milwaukee's northwest side, brittany shannon, fox 6 news.

wisconsin's election recount, tonight. it's more than 80 percent complete -- and milwaukee county is now finished! mary stoker smith is live in the newsroom with what's changed today. there was a hold up tonight as ballots got jammed in one of the machines - but within the last hour, milwaukee county closed the book on its recount. yeah .. clapping george martin -- representative for the green party -- spoke as the recount finished. he praised milwaukee county clerks and staff for their hard wor was a week ago today that the count began and it was 6 days before that this whole effort in the legal stuff was consuming us here in wisconsin and so we moved through with great support." martin says waukesha - dane and oconto counties are expected to wrap up their recounts this weekend. live in the newsroom mary stoker

steph thanks mary now that the election recount in milwaukee county is over. what's next? madeline anderson explains. bagged... sealed... and delivered. tabulators spent the day counting all 29- thousand of west allis ballots... the final municipality in milwaukee county to complete its recount. to wrap this up as the final community in the county feels lik afternoon... the wisconsin elections commission reports 47 of the states 72 counties have finished the recount. the discrepencies between recount and electon night results have been minor. so far... hillary clinton is up 556 votes... while president elect trump is up 495. we worked long hours. somedays it was 12, 14 hour days. but we got the job done.milwaukee county clerk joe czarnecki says the only

to find out how to get them go to our website fox 6 now dot com. one of the men who pleaded guilty in the fatal shooting of 5-year-old laylah petersen is sentenced to 30 years in prison. a judge handing down that sentence to arlis gordon this morning in court. investigators say gordon and two others planned to get revenge on a group -- but instead shot at the wrong house in 2014. carl barrett jr. was sentenced one week ago. he will spend 65 years in pron for his role. three unrelated shootings - four people dead. and tonight many milwaukee families are trying to make sense of it all. fox six's angelica sanchez has the developing story. screaming and gunfire--- thats what police say a neighbor heard coming from a home on appleton and florist. when police arrived they discovered a 38-year-old woman and 36-year-old man

scene. an 11-year old and 16-year old were discovered hiding in a room. they are not suspects and were not injured. a relative who did not wish to be identified said new living arrangements are being made for the children, who are still trying to make sense of what happened. . these were not the only lives lost to gunfire overnight. at 9:30 pm wednesday, a 67- year-old man was shot and killed while driving near 36th and thurston. hi a fire hydrant... telephone pole and then crashed into this home. the debris is still visible. a near by neighbor describes what she heard. ' i heard this thump after i heard the thump i went to the bathroom and saw all these flashing red and blue lights i knew something happened and went back to bed. police say no one was inside at the time of the crash. 'its very scary...its like what do we do? the last shooting happened near 52nd and green tree. police say a

and local volunteers are already lining up to prepare to feed 8,000 people! salvation army volunteers are making final plans for this years 27th annual christmas family feast. they need sixteen hundred people to help prepare a home-style dinner of turkey, ham, yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dessert and beverages. a local chef helping out says they're ready! without the volunteers it wouldn't happened quite frankly the event that's a cornerstone throughout the country without a doubt. the event is the largest feeding program hosted by the salvation army on christmas day in the country. he's an american hero he's also accomplished more in his life than most of us could even dream a look back at the life and career of john glenn.

downtown business district. one of the city's long-time, banking staples will soon begin construction of a new building. justin williams has the new developments from b-mo harris bank. if you can't feel their excitement, i can't contain myself. you can, most certainly, hear it ... this is, indeed, an exciting day for bmo harris, and michael best, and the city of milwaukee. thursday, those three entities gather to announce the planned thousand-square-foot office tower, which will house both bmo harris bank headquarters, and the law firm of michael best and friedrich. the bmo financial center will be a significant addition to downtown milwaukee. construction is slated to start, next summer, and be completed by late, 20-19. what will, officially, be known as the bmo harris financial center at market square will be located right next to b-mo harris' current location, at 7-70 north water street. that location will be redeveloped into a multi-use

west bend police investigating a troubling invasion of privacy. last week a 20 year old woman and her mother called police to report finding a suspicious device in the heating vent of the young womans bedroom. turns out it was a video camera. investigators say the mothers 39- year-old live-in boyfriend purchased the camera and placed it in the vent. tonight he's in the washington county jail. catching a strong-armed robbery suspect. this is surveillance footage near 10th and oklahoma. in the top right corner of the screen you see the suspect try to grab the victim's purse -- and then repeatedly punch her. he then grabs the purse and flees in a gray four door vehicle. if you know anything - call milwaukee police. police searching for the suspect who held up "the wing stop" last night near

got away with a tray of money. he was wearing a green vampire mask, grey sweatshirt, grey pants, and gloves. no one was hurt. a 55-year-old man under arrest in connection with an armed robbery at a jimmy john's monday night in downtown milwaukee. the suspect is also accused in an attempted strong-armed robbery at real chili... prosecutors should get the case in the coming days. a lifetime of accomplishment... the first american to orbit the age of ninety five.. people across the country are remembering him, including right here in wisconsin. fox 6's ashley sears joins us in the studio---to explain. he is being remembered as an icon. not only an accomplished astronaut, but also as a successful senator. nats: space launch?? john glenn-- a national hero-- remembered. he

milwaukee world festival and u.s. cellular announced a new ten-year agreement thursday morning, which includes a major project on the north end of the grounds. starting right after summerfest 2017, the u.s. cellular connection stage will be torn down, moved slightly and replaced in time for the 2018 festival. 'the design of the stage is purposeful in the fact that well get a great view of the lakefront, a great view of the skyline.' bigger is better for the new venue, which will now accommodate 9- 10,000 on the grounds. plus u.s. cellular will add more charging stations and increase virtual reality experiences. 'well be working with, obviously, summerfest on what type of content we can create. what can we do real-time.' the stage will primarily host country and pop artists, and hopes to help maintain summerfests slogan as the worlds largest music festival. 'we compete on a global basis for bands. so its incumbent upon us to continually improve our grounds and the

of a massive crash on interstate 90 near the ohio - pennsylvania state line.. while an exact number has not been confirmed, multiple reports state that as many as 75 cars are involved in the pile-up. officials with the lake county sheriff's office said people were trapped in their vehicles, and there were multiple injuries. earlier today - there were about five jackknifed semis and multiple accidents in the area due to icy roads. at least three people are dead and 11 others are hurt after a 40 vehicle pileup on an icy inr authorities are blaming the slippery conditions for this morning's crash -- which forced the interstate to close in both directions. several crashes also were reported on detroit-area freeways. a not-so-merry christmas in st. louis.. a christmas grinch vandalizing a yard display and it was all caught on camera... homeowner jeff diggs posted the surveillance video to social media in hopes of identifying who he calls the 'grinch.' he's says he's outraged you can tell people are disgusted about

a package and as he was getting it the wife wrote on the box "contact 911." he left and did just that. deputies arrived, arrested jordan and put an end to the woman's nightmare, thanks to the ups driver. sgt. t.j. wild/franklin county sheriff's department: "he made a huge difference." jordan is facing several charges including domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child. his bond is set at 100-thousand dollars. a u-p-s driver is dead-- after being shot in upstate new york. it all unfolded just before one about a shooting at a walmart parking lot. when cops arrived they found the ups driver down in the parking lot-- and saw the suspect driving off. law enforcement officers from different agencies spotted the suspect vehicle-- and tried to pull him over, but the suspect refused to go down quietly. police say the suspect led police to a home and stepped out of the vehicle armed with a gun. he then barricaded himself inside a home where he kept police at bay for several hours. : "i guess the key moment,
