driving advisory for the state of wisconsin. the company expects to help nearly 8 million drivers throughout the winter season in the u-s. triple a... saying some of those calls for help... can be prevented if drivers run through the following checklist. make sure your car has an emergency kit - including a first aid kit... a phone and charger... blankets... a flashlight and extra batteries. check your antifreeze... and replace your windshield wipers and wahe tire pressure frequently.... make sure your battery is securely fit. and keep your gas tank at least half way full to avoid a freeze up... be sure to download the fox 6 news mobile app for the very latest weather and traffic updates this weekend. developing overnight - police are investigating a shooting near 27th and galena. police say a 44 year old man was shot around 11 last night... and taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. no word yet on what led up to the shooting... or if anyone is

out of oconomowoc. a car crashed into a garage at a home near wisconsin and sawyer road.. you can see the scorched car being towed away. we're told flight for light has responded. officials have not released much information. but we'll you bring you the latest as we get it-- and update you on our website fox now dot com. a federal judge holding a hearing today to consider stopping wisconsin's election recount. meanwhile-- the recount in angelica joins us from the newsroom with the latest. more than 80 percent of the votes across the state have been recounted. so far the discrepancies between recount and election night results have been minor. tabulators spent yesterday counting all 29-thousand of west allis ballots... the final municipality in milwaukee county to complete its recount. the only hiccup throughout the whole process came wednesday when the city of greenfield discovered about 400 ballots in an office in city hall. the greenfield city clerk

information from email correspondence and are now using it to defraud other businesses. the better business bureau says the crooks often send out a quote request providing credit references found on the company's website. the goods are then shipped to a fake address provided by the thieves. "22:27 call up that business directly not through their phone number you got on an email but look up their web page or your old contact information 22:33 take a little extra time be vigilant make sure you know who youre doing business with 37" similar identity theft, call authorities. you can also notify the better business bureau. a lifetime of accomplishment... the first american to orbit the earth - john glenn - passes away at the age of ninety five.. people across the country are remembering him, including right here in wisconsin. fox 6's ashley sears has more.

remembered. he was one of the first astronauts. part of the "mercury seven" chosen to take part in the u-s first attempt to put men in space. in 1962, "the capsule is turning around, oh the view is tremendous." the military test pilot, became the first american to orbit the earth. catapulting the u-s in the space race. "god speed john glenn." 36 years later--at the age of 77, he training extensively, he became the oldest person in space. flying on a 9 day mission. "i think too often people say well, i'm at this age supposed to now be a couch potato. and i think the thing to do is just get and work to fulfill your dreams and your ambitions at whatever age." in his lifetime--he gained recognition that helped launch a successful political career. serving as a u-s senator, representing ohio, for 24 years.

new details about a brand new bmo harris bank building. construction is slated to begin next summer on the "bmo harris financial center at market square". the 20-story office tower will go up right next to the bank's current headquarters-- and will feature 10 floors of parking. the goal is to have it finished by late 20- 19. summerfest also announcing a milwaukee world festival and u.s. cellular announced a new ten-year agreement -- including a brand new stage. starting right after summerfest 20-17, the u.s. cellular connection stage will be torn down, moved slightly and replaced in time for the 2018 festival. the new venue will be able to hold at least 9-thousand people. and they'll add a 25-foot l-e-d screen-- the largest on the festival grounds. dollars in new disaster relief...as well as 170 million to address the lead crisis in flint, michigan. it also would expedite the process for confirming president-elect trump's choice for defense secretary. senate democrats however say they want more for retired coal miners. president-elect donald trump... making another decision for his cabinet. angelica joins us from the newsroom with the latest. president-elect trump is picking fast food executive andy puzder to be secretary of labor. parent company that owns hardees restaurants. he has been a vocal critic of government regulation and is against a 15-dollar minimum wage and broader overtime pay. puzder is credited with turning around the hardee's brand, but the company has been the target of complaints about labor violations and sexist commercials. workers' right advocates are not happy with the decision, saying puzder will roll back efforts to raise pay for low-wage workers and to provide safer workplaces.
