property tax bills are in the mail... and governor scott walker says homeowners should be happy.. he's says he's saved them money. fox6's madeline anderson explains. open their property tax bills this december... governor scott walker says they'll be pleasantly surprised. property taxes today in december 2016, are $116 less than they were in december in 2010. at a news conference in waukesha... the republican governor explained... that's because property

prior to his tax relief efforts. we did two things. we put more money into school aids. some of which went to schools directly, but a major portion of which we tied into property tax caps. so that levies were capped off at the school board and the municipal and county level. but democrats like representative gordon hintz... say the cuts have come at th governor walker is sort of telling one version of the story. he says property taxes in his district of oshkosh have skyrocketed because not enough money is going into the classroom. individual districts, almost a quarter or third of them in wisconsin, their voters have decided to raise their own property taxes by $630 million dollars to make up for those cuts. governor walker says he will continue to focus on lowering property taxes in the next state budget. democrats say they too support tax relief but say it should be weighed with other priorities. reporting

for a motive -- and a suspect. milwaukee police are following several leads in a north side shooting.. around 12:30 this morning a 48-year- old man was shot in the shoulder near 4th and center. police say several people were fighting when someone pulled out a gun and shot him. he is expected to survive. get the lead out! the city of milwaukee approves a multi million dollar plan to replace aging underground pipes. and homeowners will pay part of tells you when the work will begin. as homeowners pay property tax bills on the first floor of milwaukee's city hall. on the third floor the common council votes. hamilton the motion passes with that a multi million dollar plan will go into effect, to replace milwaukee's aging lead pipe laterals beneath city streets. lead leaking into the drinking water is a primary concern. it's not fair to the

too much money to the city willie hart owns a home on milwaukee's northwest side and says underground pipes and the water supply should be 100 percent the city's responsibility. they should take care of that . it's not fair to the property owners under the plan a homeowner would pay up to 16 hundred dollars, or no more than a third of the cost of replacing the section of pipe under their rest., the homeowner could pay the cost over ten years. we understand there are going to be families who can't afford this right now. at the same time there are absentee landlords who would not be doing this if we did not mandate next year the city will start replacing pipes that bring water to day care centers and pipes that have histories of breaking. we want to assure that any leaded service lines serving the population that wuld be

wieting wee-ting high-fiving a young man during international walk to school day in october.the u-s department of justice holds a contest each month to find the best picture across the country related to community policing. package thieves are getting more clever this year.. check out this scam from an indianapolis. police say this guy is pretending to be a pizza delivery driver.. he's carrying a box as he walks up on the front porch of this home.. then after a few curious looks and a knock on the door the "pizza guy" came with. the thief may have been pretty disappointed with this swipe. the box contained a pair of slippers. and check out this video from the st. louis area.. you can see an older woman stealing packages stolen from a front porch. the home surveillance camera caught is all .. it also caught a black hummer passing their driveway four times in less than five minutes. and then two minutes after the hummers last pass - the thief

one was hurt and no word yet on what caused the fire. a woman is forcibly removed from a flight at detroit metropolitan airport. a two-minute video of the incident has gone viral. you can see the woman being dragged down the center aisle of the plane by police officers as they hold onto her wrists. a spokeswoman for the airport says the woman failed to comply with proper boarding procedures. she has been ticketed but has incident. a zookeeper in miami is hurt after she was bitten by a tiger. a zoo miami spokesman says the 20-year-old zookeeper was feeding the tiger through a fence when the animal bit the tip of her finger. it's not clear how badly she was injured.. zoo officials say what the keeper was doing was against zoo protocol. a woman is assaulted at a grocery store in memphis for being too slow using her coupons. the woman was in line using coupons
