some organizations are trying to make things safe for the area's most vulnerable. emergency shelters are opening up, so the homeless have a place to go. fox 6's ashley sears is live west allis at one of those shelters-- this warming shelter opened up today and will stay open throughout the night. we are at "feeding his flock." it has been a very busy night here--and the group expects it

its been a very long day in the basement of the chapel at 81st and lapham in west allis-- and its only just begun. the "feeding his flock" homeless outreach group gets ready for the night ahead. hangout and keep warm, maybe play some games they've opened up an emergency warming shelter for the night. welcoming those without a home--a place to escape the cold-- nats: rv volunteers even go out in it-- we are heading to pick up a local couple who is homeless. bringi weve got a warming shelter by us this group is one of several in southeast wisconsin-- nats: operator at 211 making sure people stay safe as the temperatures dip. were available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. at the impact 2-1-1 call center-- nats: operator resource specialists connect callers with the help they're looking for. assisting many in finding shelter. 58:41 any given day, we take about 600 calls. as it gets colder like this the call volume will go up. with

enforcement behind the wheel. i guess i was doing it out of anger because i was mad daunte donte ealy shot the video.he says it all started when he stepped away from his vehicle tuesday morning. i was warming up the car and keep the car warm, and it was about 2 seconds. it started rolling away. ealy says acting on emotion-- i just got in her car. he jumped in a stranger's car, who agreed to tail the thieves. ealy truck a few blocks away, where teens were meeting up with a second stolen car. when they realized they were being followed, they bailed on the truck--- then he get in the car, and i jump in my car, then the chase started from there. ealy began streaming live on facebook. these little @#$% stole my car. @!#$ he chased the thieves down snow covered streets-- even on the wrong side of the road. ealy says he wasn't thinking clearly. i ain;t want to take no loss with this car, so i just went with it.. during the chase--- one person

all the suspects get away. dont leave your lkeys in the car, stay outside with your car until it warm up. a tough way to be reminded who may be lurking this winter. its a lesson learned for me too. not to do it again? never to do it again. ever. ealy has had other vehicles stolen before and says he couldn't afford to lose his vehicle again. he admits hea and others. milwaukee police say if you're car is stolen, let them handle it. to date thieves have taken nearly 6- thousand cars in milwaukee. the good news--- that's down 14 percent from last year. ted. heartbreak at a sheboygan county college campus. the body of a lakeland university student was found in a pond on campus.

a genuine guy. kaelin o'neal had been missing since sunday morning. the freshman was the backup quarterback on the school's football team. the sheriffs office says there is no indication of foul play-- but they're still trying to figure out how o'neal--who's from north carolina-- ended up in the water. racine police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of mark gates. he was a sanitation worker and a pastor in racine. but as fox6's brittany shannon reports, to those who knew him he was so much more to the racine commu "it's emotional, you know" brenna freeman looks longingly at the front of her church. and a reminder of her pastor... "felt like i needed to be here. this is where he would have wanted us to be" the racine woman's pastor, mark gates, a fixture here at christ chapel... "he would have given his coat to somebody that needed it his shirt off his back if you needed

members learning their pastor had passed away. gates worked as a racine sanitation employee. he was struck by a car while collecting recyclables wednesday morning. he was flown to froedtert where he died. "you expect your pastor to be here and not to be taken away in some tragic accident" gates meaning so much to so many. racine mayor john dickert calling him a "highly respected and dedicated employee" "a deeply faithful and caring pastor" also reminding people to slow down. a similar message from fl washington avenue. "we out here every day trying to do the job for the community just slow down" now...a void for the people of christ chapel. but hope. in waukesha-- three massage parlors have been shut down. police say they were really a front for prostitution. four women were arrested monday after a lengthy investigation. it included an undercover detective going inside to see what would happen. police say they got numerous complaints about the businesses, which advertised on an internet sex site called "back page". three state lawmakers are calling on milwaukee county sheriff david clarke to resign. state senator chris larso reps jonathan brostoff and christine sinicki released a statement today-- calling the sheriff's office "grossly mismanaged." four people, including an infant born to an inmate have died in the county jail since april. the lawmakers say these deaths are tied directly to clarkes lack of supervision. his spokeswoman, fran mclaughlin ?released a statement saying the sheriff "is bored with this democrat party fake news because he helped donald

bell rings students are supposed to be in class. that's one lesson every kid knows. but for one milwaukee girl-- being tardy was out of her control. so her mom reached out to contact six for help. jenna sachs with the result.

daughter ... gets to the bus stop ... on time. what time is it? so far this school year ... they've spent a lot of time waiting . we used to bring chairs. we would bring chairs outside, folding chairs, and sit right outside to watch for the bus. ja'kira is in third grade at milwaukee spanish immersion. where the school day starts at 8-45. her mom says ... most days ... ja'kira has been late. jenna: do you care about school? ja'kira: yes. jenna: do you like school? ja'kira: yes, i love school. ja'kira says she's been makes me feel like, frustrated cause i have to get my work done and i don't want to get behind on my work. it makes me furious at this point that i had to go through these lengths to get my daughter to school on time. denise says she called lakeside bus company ... her daughter's school ... and the school district... but the bus

she rearranged her work schedule ... because she doesn't want ja'kira alone at the bus stop. the red house there, there's a registered sex offender in the upper unit.. on the day contact 6 waited with ja'kira ... ok another bus driver hello. the bus arrived 14 minutes late. have a great day! jarika's mom says her bus got school ... at 8-56. eleven minutes late. contact 6 reached out to lakeside bus company ... which thanked us for bringing it says in an email ... "we checked our gps records for pick-up and drop-off times" ... "and also spoke with our local dispatch team. it appears that, due to heavy traffic, the route does need to be adjusted" m-p-s tells contact 6 ... it already approved one adjustment to ja'kira's route ... since the family continued to have concerns ... they've authorized a change in pick-up time ... to make sure ja'kira gets to school on time.

ready, ready, ready. a couple weeks later ... we meet denise and ja'kira at the bus stop again. things has gotten a lot better. this time ... the bus arrives on schedule... to the minute. she's getting to school on time. we check up on ja'kira's arrival at spanish immersion ... and see her bus in the que ... right at 8- 45. jakira has enough time to eat breakfast ... and get to class on time. were most glad that you guys could help. really ap m-p-s tells us it manages the transportation of 50-thousand students in the milwaukee area. it says this family followed the right protocol by contacting the school and the bus company. but denise says getting this fixed ... took a lot more time and effort than she anticipated ... and that included contacting us. who bears most of the responsibility here ... is it m-p-s or lakeside? at the end of the day ... both bear responsibility.

finally tonight-- shop with a cop! milwaukee police officers from district 5 teamed up with 20 kids today. they each got a gift card to walmart-- and the officers helped them pick out gifts for themselves and their families. after the shopping was done-- the kids even got some help with the wrapping. wakeup starts at 4:30! breaking
