try to rotate the crews as much as possible, the problem is rotating crews you send a crew out and bring them back in the masks will freeze up on you, so you have to get it done as quickly as possible so you don't have ;an alert from the state of wisconsin... the d-o-t is warning drivers about an increased risk of hitting black ice this weekend.

the department of transportation is warning drivers to be cautious on the roads this weekend. with high winds and drifting snow expected... road conditions could be dangerous. the combination could create a higher risk for black ice... which is often mistaken for wet or newly paved roads. so what do you need to look out for? pavement that looks dark, wet or like new asphalt.... low-lying areas that may have standing water or run off from nearby melting snow banks or puddles... bridges and underpasses... and any road areas which are mayor tom barrett... issuing his own warning for anyone traveling for the holidays. "make sure that you've got a car survival kit that includes blankets, clothing and high energy foods. make sure that your vehicles' fuel tank is at least half full and that the battery is charged." mayor barrett is also warning drivers not to leave cars running to warm up unless someone is in it - to avoid car thefts. for the complete list of closures-- head to our

storm center app-- it's free for apple an android devices. law enforcement throughout the state cracking down on drunk drivers. starting today through new years --- 24 o-w-i task force teams will be on the lookout for impaired drivers. overtime for task force officers is covered by federal funding. officials say be smart if you plan on drinking over the holidays...like taking a cab or a bus. there are also several rideshare options available. the d-o-t does offer a free app that has a "find a ride" feature -- locate alternative transportation. three state lawmakers are calling on milwaukee county sheriff david clarke to resign. state senator chris larson and state reps jonathan brostoff and christine sinicki released a statement - calling the sheriff's office "grossly mismanaged." four people, including an infant born to an inmate have died in the county jail since april. the lawmakers say these deaths are tied directly to clarkes lack of supervision.

right now... investigators say they've found traces of explosives on bodies recovered from the egyptair flight 804 crash. the cairo-bound plane crashed into the mediterranean last may - after it took off from paris. all 66 people on board were killed. no terrorist group has claimed responsibility. and this just in. sad news from the milwaukee county zoo. off that western lowland gorilla, femelle died on monday. the gorilla came to the zoo in 1985 from the national zoo. she had 4 babies during her time at the zoo. they estimate she was about 54 years old. zookeepers say she will be missed. new this morning --- milwaukee fire warming up after battling a house

high-speed chase traveled on snowy roads... even on the wrong side of the road. eventually the teens got away. i guess i was doing it out of anger because i was mad, because they took my car and messed up the bumper, and took some personal stuff so i was very heated at the time. ealy admits in hindsight, the chase was a mistake since it was just too risky. police ask that if your car is stolen, let them handle it. in sheboygan county... the body of a lakeland university student wafo yesterday... leaving his friends devastated. i mean, he was a good dude. just a genuine guy. kaelin o'neal had been missing since sunday morning. the freshman was the backup quarterback on the school's football team. the sheriffs office says there is no indication of foul play-- but they're still trying to figure out how o'neal--who's from north carolina-- ended up in the water. the milwaukee public schools' superintendent wants "all" mps high schools to start their calendar

about a month -- but yesterday was its grand opening! to find out more about the place -- visit fox6 now dot com or the fox6 news app -- and search "cafe." the milwaukee police department making sure kids in milwaukee have a happy holidays. officers from district 5 teamed up with 20 kids for the annual shop with a cop event. each child got a gift card to walmart-- and the officers helped them pick out gifts for themselves and their families. it's an event the officers really look forward to. ask some of these officers, they really wanted to give their time and they really wanted to participate in this. after the shopping was done-- the kids even got some help with the wrapping. a six-year-old boy's act of kindness towards franklin police officers inspired them to pay it forward. landon naumann and his mom went to report his bike stolen yesterday. the officer taking the report recognized landon -- whose picture hangs on the wall at the department. he made treat bags for officers

eight officers went and bought a new bike for landon. hannah says: "they do so many things, but small stuff like that.... they're just a hero in my son's eyes." the bike landon got from the officers was actually the exact same kind he had before. the bicycle that was stolen was a birthday gift for the boy in march.
