from southern california to canada and exposed details of a relationship fraht with jealousy and violence. jenkins remains at large and we are learning more about what transpired in the hours surrounding fiore's death as brian rooney reports. >> at first the intensive search was from the air and on the ground. but one day later, authorities on both sides of the canadian border have turned to the harder work of tracking tips and investigating leads. >> obviously, with a case like there where there's a great deal of media attention, there tends to be a higher number of possible sightings. people that are trying to be helpful. >> this strange case started saturday, south of los angeles. when a bottle collector poking through a dumpster found a suitcase with a woman's body jammed inside. that night in los angeles, seemingly unrelated, a canadian man named ryan jenkins -- >> i --

>> who was a featured bachelor on vh1's "megan wants a millionaire" reported that a bikini model named jasmine fiore was missing. tuesday, through the serial numbers on her breast implants, the body in the suitcase was identified as that of jasmine fiore, and ryan jenkins was nowhere to be found. >> we have reason to believe that somebody who may be involved in her disappearance is a friend of hers and a person of and that's the person we'd like to speak with. >> at the time, they didn't even know jenkins' true relation to fiore. only a few months ago the 3 -year-old jenkins has been a player, vying for the affection of the girl looking for a millionaire on vh1. >> i never really go with any girls who can keep up with me. >> he was the confident, wealthy bachelor, certain he'd get the

>> come on, guys, get out your cells and text girls to 8500 and chat with wild singles like me right now. >> oddly enough when the police initially announced they were looking for jenkins, they had a mug shot. jenkins had been arsted before. accused of punching fiore at a las vegas hotel. and he had a criminal conviction for assaulting a girlfriend at home in calgary, alberta, where he was sentenced to 15 months probation and counseling for anger management and sex addiction. in calgary, one acquaintance said jenkins could be found anywhere they sold $18 drinks. but a woman described him as a wonderful guy. >> he was a great guy. as far as i knew, he was very happy. you know, in our relationship, we had our fights, everyone does. but i would never say, well, he could have murdered someone. there's no way. >> this week, a person claiming to have been a witness told abc news jenkins and fiore argued at

he poker week ago. and there was possible tension over a former boyfriend named robert hasman, shown here poolside in cabo san lucas. fiore's agent say her with hasman a month ago many las vegas. >> i was at a restaurant in las vegas, and i saw her walk in the door and now she was with someone that i couldn't -- until night i saw on the news was the robert to the boyfriend. >> it was hasman who acted as the family spokesman at a police conference. >> jenkins is an animal. what he has done to jasmine is unspeakable. >> whether it was jenkins is unproved. but whoever did it strangled fiore and more. >> the fingers and teeth were removed.

>> for investigators the circumstances all point toward the smooth-talking former bachelor, ryan jenkins. >> i'm james -- >> jenkins and fiore were seen together last friday night at that poker game and had a room in the hotel. sardtuay morning, 100 miles north in buena park. and in blaine, washington, jenkins' black bmw and a boat trailer were discovered and then ten miles across the open walk water, jenkins' jetrd ski was found within walking distance of the canadian border. that is where the trail ends, but law enforcement authorities swear they will get jenkins. >> there will be no stjeone unturned and we'll look under every rock for him. >> if jenkins is arrested in canada, he may not be returned

human body in two. so, why did dan harris venture across the lake in uganda to get a close look at these frightening creatures? he tells us in tonight's edition of "into the wild". >> were smack in the middle of the lake in uganda searching for hippos. when all of a sudden, -- oh, what's this right here? right next to the boat? they can swim fast. he emerges from the water and wheels around to face us. doesn't look happy to see us. so the hippo that swam close to the boat there, you think that was the dominant male saying go away? >> that seems to be a male. trying to protect his brood. >> the hippo is one of if not the most aggressive animals on earth. it's said that hippos kill more humans every year than any other

these amazing creatures are in serious trouble not far from here. but here in uganda, they are in a sort of hippo paradise. >> we have buffalo, elephant, and hippo happily coexisting. >> yeah, you can see they're friendly. because they are grass eaters. >> they do occasionally fight with predators like lions. there's a crocodile. >> yeah. >> or prehistoric-looking toothy grinned crocodiles like this one. hippos are a key part of an ecosystem that includes goose-stepping consider mow rapts, little antelopes who see we engaged in mating dances which i quickly put out on twitter and larger antelopes who's blocking our path right here. >> yeah, that's the male. >> right. and apparently those horns don't feel good when they enter your body.

hippo numbers. >> it's a slaughter? >> it's basically a slaughter. >> now there are just a few hundred hip hpos and they're disappearing because they're being eaten by the marauding bands. so the armies are living off of hippo meat? >> the armies are living off of hippo meat because they don't have any other source of food. they have to get a protein, the meat from somewhere and they're eating the hippo population. >> civilians are eating the hippos and in an appetite fuelled by desperation and a superstition. the superstition is if you get married you have to give your wife hippo meat. >> because it's supposed to give you good luck and give you children. >> and we find one that bumps in the our boat. >> that is a boat.

and now, weather. hurricane bill continued to churn its way across the atlantic today, soaking bermuda with heavy rain and flooding and ill's winds have been clocked at105 miles an hour anat forecasters say it can intensify. now the entire east coast of america is waiting to feel the effects tomorrow. it is not expected to make landfall in the u.s., but nonetheless the danger is significant. our sharyn alfonsi is in cape cod with the latest. >> the cape is bracing for bill tonight, the storm is expected to bring heavy surf and strong rip tides. from north florida all the way to new england. from space, bill looks like a

beast. more than 700 miles across. nearly as wide as e state of texas. >> bill is a scary looking storm, but it's not going to be visiting anybody along the eastern seaboard of the united states. so the big impact going to rough surf and again, perhaps some tropical storm-force wind gusts out on cape cod. the area there's -- area that's taking a beating is nova scotia sunday afternoon. >> bill is hundreds of miles off shore, but agitating water ace long the atlantic coast from northern florida to new england. and in new york, eight-foot waves forced beach closures in long island. >> very treacherous conditions. as you can see, we are letting them get their feet wet. and it's going to get worse. >> on north carolina's outer banks, bill was flexing his muscles. >> it was really strong like even the waves down by ankles were moving me and the big ones were knocking me ove

>> you can feel wit the current and the water level is much higher. >> we have seen bill pounding bermuda with heavy rains and some serious surf there as well. forecasters are predicting serious rip tides and dangerous waves from bill this weekend. swells that could reach 20 feet high in parts of new england. >> it's the obvious paradise, we have been praying for a hurricane swell. >> but the killer waves cause serious concern on cape cod. in 1991, hurricane bob, a massive category 2 hurricane, killed 18. late this afternoon the coast guard here started to shutter up, getting ready just in case. >> trying to make sure that if need be we can get our boats underway to help people out or even when we're in the station that we're safe. >> the residents are bracing themselves for the weekend show. >> the waves get enormous and it's hard to even capture it in the picture but it's beautiful and scary at the same time.
