very nice to watch. >> this note is in the trees very well. this is beautiful out there. we have some school closures. clark, prince william, and mannassas. >> shenandoah and alexandria is two hours late. >> in west virginia, berkley, jefferson and morgan. >> brian is here to talk about the latest information. >> this is almost gone and we will have some sunshine. unless you are in a five-hour drive this morning -- we see that this is pushing across to the bay. the temperatures are not nearly as cold as during the weekend. we will quickly move away.

we are cooler this morning, but we will see some improvement. the high temperature is 41 degrees. we have two decent days ahead of us. we will check in with atom -- and we have the latest on the snowfall totals. we have the imposing system for the upcoming weekend. >> this storm is out of here and the focus is moving to the next potential storm. let's start right here in rockville. we are near intersection 355. this is difficult to measure. i do not know how much was existing from the weekend. i estimated four or 5 inches fell here, from what i measured.

i am a little bit over 4 inches here. damascus is six and a half inches. on countryside, this is 5.1. in fairfax county, this is very impressive for this storm system. the storm system is going to the next one. the center is now on the state of texas. this will bring in a lot of moisture along the gulf coast. this may be a very efficient snow producer. it is not clear how much that we will get but this may be major. the temperatures will be falling as well. we are in bed montgomery county.

overall, it is not that bad. >> we have this everywhere around town. stay off the highway. they are treating the primary and secondary roads and they will get to your neighborhood. we will give you an example here -- you can see that the slushes building up -- and you will need a lot of washer fluid. just be patient and anticipate having to stop your car. the bridges often are freezing over first. >> they are not taking any chances with the latest weather. >> 1400 snowplows -- snowplows are being used this morning. we continue with the coverage. she is in springfield. we have been impressed with how things are looking. >> driving out here, we noticed

that the main roads are very clear. 95 is looking very good. we are monitoring the bridges and ramps, and overpasses. this will frees up more quickly than the major roadways. they are really going full steam ahead, making certain that they are on this. they have a couple of inches out here and we have been measuring this during this morning. they did not have the three or 6 inches that they were expecting. as you can see, there are not many vehicles out here. the trucks have really been going up and down the road ways. we have been talking about the trucks in northern virginia. taking a look at arlington county -- they are working in 12-hour shifts on the main road, after the snow stopped falling.

they have been moving onto the secondary roads. the side streets -- looking at them, these are not terrible. there is some snowfall on the side streets this morning. it is not as terrible as what we saw in the past. this is something to watch out for when you clear of your vehicle this morning. >> thank you very much. they will stay out as long as necessary in maryland to make certain that the roads are clean. hundreds of trucks are out there across the state. >> many people have decided to stay home, and in virginia, we found people stopping off for groceries and gasoline. the drivers had poor visibility. many residents say that they are just tired of all the snow. >> this is the worst weather

but the traffic has turned much of this to slush. roads are more wet than icy. from the looks of people out there, it appears their work has paid off. washingtonians will have antoher perfect -- another perfect scene. boulevards and yards covered in snow. >> crews have been out there early this morning, but not all of them are clear. the roads may be clear -- but some of the sidewalks are still slick. be careful as you go out to work this morning. >> all this snow is putting a major role -- a major squeeze on the local budgets. virginia it is over their budget.

the road is remarkably clear. the side streets are the only problem. >> it is also quite beautiful this morning. we will check the traffic and the weather. >> i am glad that you were talking about this angle of the storm. it is sti gorgeous outside. we are in rockville. notice the sheen -- this is water. there are some areas of slush on the secondary streets. some of these areas have not been touched and that is where you will see the issues. we have one slipping and sliding them what we see in the neighborhood. the snow was on the eastern shore -- moving off to the east.

berkley, and pendleton county schools are closed. hamilton is on a two-hour delay. we are falling the conditions on the road. we have the very latest from -- >> i am wearing gloves right now. we are at the landscaping company with about 50 or 60 snowplows taking care of the secondary roads. you have been out since 10:00 last night, but what have you seen? >> there is ice and snow, and the secondary roads are covered in ice. the parking lots and sidewalks, and we are trying to get this open forhe morning. >> what about the neighborhood roads? >> most of this is covered in

ice, and this has now frozen and become high. >> the roads are looking ve good this morning. you have had a very busy season so far since december. how does this compare to the others? >> this is not quite as bad. the temperatures were much colder, and we have the chemicals to put down the salt. we have some radiation -- >> what kind of advice do you have for the drivers? >> they shod use caution and common sense, and just to be careful. >> as we finish, there is another storm coming through on friday. what kind of preparations to you have for this? >> we have been working around the clock. we are getting ready for this.

the moisture is moving off -- and we saw the advisory moving out and this may be dropped very early. we are going down to the state of texas, where all the moisture has been generated. this will be moving its way east, bringing in some moisture. this will go into this vicinity -- off the course -- coast of the eastern seaboard. we will have a good opportunity as we go into the end of the week. we have a good chance for precipitation. we could be piling up. things have been wrapping out -- wrapping up for this system. we will not even mention what will happen next week. >> i do not want to move too far ahead. we will not be going to next tuesday just yet. there is too much to handle right now. the measure is a little bit

over 4 inches. i did not know exactly how much was on the ground. we have several fresh inches of snow -- and we have half a foot of snow with this system. let me tell you about the next system that will be moving through. we have a little bit of slush and you can notice that we had two low-pressure systems. the system on the right will be them up -- will be the main system. this is going to reinvent itself. we are at the mid-atlantic coastline. according to the projected pathway of the storm, this should put us into the snow zone. this will become the have the zone, with this system.

we are talking about heavy accumulations. they have just been dropping the warnings across the region as this comes to an end. tomorrow it will be 43 degrees. friday and saturday, we will see the next storm system -- the next storm system, and we will see this through the afternoon, going to saturday afternoon. we will have a much better idea by this time tomorrow. this may be a major storm. i want to remind everyone, send us the measurements of snowfall to weather@wjla.com. >> be careful when you get to the highway. now that we have more action -- more of the neighbors are getting out. we have several accidents to a port -- to report.

a portion of north capitol street has been blocked your budget and have it. the looks to be some police activity. southbound, it was clear near the tunnel, and yesterday they were removing hazardous material. it looks like this is definitely there near the american legion bridge. we will change the cameras and see where we can go -- and we see flashing lights in the word, montgomery. they are working on the overhead sign. beautiful winter pictures here, and this is near the pentagon. we are going down to west haven, and this is not bad right now. >> thank you very much. it is 4:55 and we will watch some of the other stories that are making headlines.

americans accused of taking children out of haiti will go before a judge, and the women were spoken to yesterday. they were crossing into the dominican republic with a busload of children. >> toyota may have to add another problem to a long list of growing problems. there have been breaking problems with the prius hybrid. ray lahood is criticizing toyota for moving too slowly with their safety measures. the parts to fix this are moving out right now. >> the death of morgan harrington has been confirmed to be a homicide. she disappeared in october after attending a metallica concert.

>> the doctor at the center of the investigation into the death of michael jackson may be facing charges. he may be charged with involuntary manslaughter today. dr. murray is planning to turn himself in. michael jackson died in june after he was given a sedative to help them sleep. -- to help him sleep. >> involuntary manslaughter requires -- >> there will be a complaint in court, rather than going to the grand jury. he said he gave him an anesthetic before he died, but he does not say there is anything -- he says there is nothing there that should have been able to kill him. >> next, we continue to follow the conditions across the metropolitan region.
