campaign for any candidate. >> earlier tonight, i spoke with one person about the key races. thanks so much for joining us, alex. it seems that we have been talking about this for some time. is getting closer and closer rather than further apart. what are you watching now? >> the senate looks to be more democratic. the house seems to be slipping away from their grasp. the republicans have a good chance of winning the house. >> what is your prediction? >> 39 seats to win control of the chambers is needed. it could be more on a bad night for democrats. >> what are the bellwether races to look for trends? >> you want to look at some of

the close races such as colorado, which is a neck and neck race at this point. those are critical senate races that you want to look at. let's get some races in the house we were reporting early on in the night. a democratic congressman is running for reelection in one race. >> it seems the president is focused on this issue of outside corporate contributions going to republican candidates. some are critical about that saying talk about the issue is not about the process not this outside funding. is that message resonating or working? >> the democrats are not being able to close in certain areas of the polls.

what president obama is trying to do is to rally them with this message. >> he is focusing on women voters over the past few weeks. we see some women candidates out there. >> california, barbara boxer. that is a critical race. democrats know a few races will maintain control in the senate. if they can keep the senate, they can bring those women voters out in key races and get control. >> thanks. now for 20 years, one woman has kept silent. but now the wife of clarence thomas has demanded an apology from anita hill. the escrow for the of clarence thomas says a need to oppose

pornography movie with him. i might have. it was something that he talked about quite frequently. >> you know for a fact that he did watch pornographic movies? >> yes. as a matter of fact, i recall going to a video store with him where the owner of the store had some of his preference is behind the counter. >> because he knew justice thomas liked certain things? >> yes. >> what did you think when anita hill came forward? many people questioned her veracity. did you? >> i thought that she was telling the truth, because i had always assumed that clarence had a sexual relationship with her. >> his wife asking anita hill to

apologize. does she owe her an apology? >> i was not surprised that she did that. clarence should know that she does not bow her an apology. -- owe her an apology. based on the book that he wrote about himself, he never shared with his wife is true personality or his real self. his interests in women's breast was a fantasy. i mean huge breasts. he had a fantasy thing about huge breasts. he had never really had a

witness to the same thing, maybe she needs to tell the truth. >> the rules were no questions or testimonies would be allowed other than in respect to a professional relationship with him at work. >> why not go to the media that was covering this story from every angle? >> i did not believe her. >> but you knew he was not telling the truth. >> i did not think either one of them was telling the full truth. what i would give, i would take away. >> what would you say about her husband a few spoke with her? what do you think she still needs to know? >> i feel sorry for her. i have no hostility towards her or jealousy or resentment.

only sympathy. i would tell her to have a conversation with her husband. the chances of that happening are not great. >> because he is no longer checking of women or interested in pornography? >> i think he would have to be miserable, because he would have to go off to himself with the situation he has created. when you have a person that is dealing with the kind of power that he is wielding -- being unaware and putting his wife in the dark about something that is of huge significance in his life and in her own life as a

public person, and that is very dangerous. >> you worked for joe biden. do you think he handled the matter well? as chairman, he handled the hearings. >> i think he knew about the relationship i had with thomas. he also knew that clarence was a frequent visitor to our office in the building. clarence is a very charming person. i always thought that senator biden was charmed by thomas. as a result of that, did not pursue this in a way that could have been pursued.
