anti-wall street protesters overnight. this one at the birthplace of the movement, in new york. our reporter is there. the coach accused of molesting boys at penn state says he's innocent,s a at least ten more victims come forward. and diane sawyer talks to gabrielle giffords and asks an important question, will she return to congress? good morning. i'm sunny hostin. >> i'm t.j. winick, in for rob nelson. we begin this morning with breaking news. a crackdown against occupy wall street protesters. >> this morning, hundreds of new york city police started clearing the park where the protesters have been living for nearly two months. they were told to remove their belongings. and they would be allowed back after it was cleaned. >> demonstratored streamed into the surrounding streets. we talked to rich esposito, who

was in the middle of it. >> police were out in force, with batons and shields. they've been driving protesters away from the park, as additional protesters have been streaming, from other parts of the city in, alerted by tweets and social media, to the scene at the park. >> as the crackdown began, police told protesters that their encampment was becoming a health and safety hazard. we'll have a full report on "good morning america." in other breaking news, this morning, jerry sandusky admitted he showered with boys. but the former penn state coach says he is not a pedophile. >> this is the first time sandusky has spoken publicly, since the first time i spoke to him after the scandal broke. tahman bradley has the details. >> reporter: jerry sandusky denies abusing young boys. telling nbc's bob costas in a phone interview, he may have horsed around.

but he is not a pedophile. >> i say that i am innocent of those charges. >> innocent? completely innocent and falsely accused in every aspect? >> well, i could say that, you know, i have done some of those things. i have horsed around with kids. >> are you sexually attracted to young boys? to underage boys? >> am i sexually attracted to underage boys? >> yes. >> sexually attracted, no. i enjoy young people. i love to be around them. i -- no. i'm not sexually attracted to young boys. >> reporter: this was sandusky's first public denial of the 40 counts of sex crimes against young boys. published reports say up to ten suspected victims have come forward. sandusky's lawyer told cnn, his client can answer each of the accusations. >> the kid was messing around, having a good time.

he had mcqueary come in and see that. he felt uncomfortable. >> reporter: the eight boys that sandusky was charged with abusing, were part of his second mile foundation. where thomas day, who took part in the foundation, said the coach was larger than life. >> coach sandusky was like a god. >> the chief executive resigned amid questions whether the charity could have done more. t.j. and sunny? >> thank you. we're looking at a new sex abuse at the revered south carolina college. the president of the citadel said more should have been done after accusations were made in 2007. an excounselor was accused of molesting boys. that information was never turned over to police. that counselor is now charged with molesting five kids he coached after leaving the camp. in the race for the republican nomination, our new poll released overnight shows slipping support for herman cain. 69% say the sexual harassment claims against cain are a

serious matter. and 44% believe the women accusing cain. just 33%, cain himself. cain is visiting iowa today. and with more on the cain campaign, here's abc's karen travers. herman cain's wife, gloria, has stayed out of the campaign spotlight. until now. in an interview with greta van susteren on fox news, gloria cain defends her husband on the accusation of sexual harassment. >> he totally respects women. >> reporter: there are four women who say cain sexually harassed them when he was the head of the national restaurant association in the 1990s. >> he suddenly reached over. and he put his hand on my leg, under my skirt. >> reporter: gloria cain told fox news, she can't believe that her husband could do the things he's been accused of. >> that would have been something that was totally disrespectful of her, as a woman. and i know that's not the person he is. >> reporter: the sexual

harassment scandal may be keeping the focus off of concerns that cain doesn't have a firm fwras grasp of the issues. in wisconsin, he got tripped up when asked if he agreed with president obama on libya. >> okay, libya. no -- that's a different one. i have all sorts of stuff twirling around in my head. >> reporter: in october, the former pizza mogul was neck and neck with mitt romney. but a new cnn poll shows he's dropped 11 points. he now trails a surging newt gingrich. karen travers, abc news, washington. another sign of the gingrich momentum came overnight. a new bloomberg poll shows a statistical four-way tie in iowa between cain, gingrich, romney and ron paul. the supreme court has agreed to hear arguments over president obama's controversial health care overhaul. at issue is a key provision of the law that requires every

uninsured american to buy health insurance by 2014 or pay a penalty. the ruling is expected in june. and the nba's players are now employing what could be a season-ending strategy in their labor battle with owners. the players' union is being dissolved, with clears the way for a an aunt trust battle in the league. david stern says the league's nuclear winter is getting under way. time, now, for the weather across the nation. a stormy day for much of the gulf coast. 80-mile-per-hour winds, hail, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes from san antonio to houston. new orleans, shreveport and memphis. thunderstorms around nashville, louisville, st. louis and cincinnati. mild showers from boston to washington, d.c. >> 65 here in new york. 68 in baltimore. and 72 in atlanta. just shy of 80 in dallas. 61 in kansas city. and 45 in minneapolis. fargo and billings only climb to the 30s. phoenix gets up to 71.

european debt crisis is raising the odds of another u.s. recession. if it happens, it would be early next year. the u.s. recovery is still fragile and vulnerable to shocks from abroad. home prices may not have hit bottom just yet. pimco a global investment firm, says they could fall another 6% to 8%. property values are already down about 31% from their peak in mid 2006. overseas markets are down on fears italy's next prime minister can't turn the country around. tokyo's nikkei average dropped 62 points today. hong kong's hang seng fell 160. in london, the ftse opened lower. on wall street, the dow lost 75 points yesterday. the nasdaq index, 21.5. and with the job market tight, many u.s. workers are not taking all their vacation days. a study finds more than half of u.s. work more than we have to. leaving an average of 11 vacation days unused.

offering new hope for millions of heart attack survivors, using their own stem cells to reverse damage. the revolutionary treatment exacts cardinal stem cells and grows hem in a lab. those cells are injected back into the heart. one year later, a heart that was barely able to contract can pump up to 60% more blood. an amazing story of survival out of eastern north carolina this morning. a car flew down an embankment on friday, crashing and landing upside down, far off the road. the driver was killed. but his 9-year-old daughter survived and was trapped in the wreckage for two days before rescuers found her. during that time, all she had to eat was pop-tarts and gatorade. and 2-year-old twin sisters who were joined at the chest could be heading home as early as today. angelica and angelina were separated at stanford children's hospital just two weeks ago. they'll have to learn how to walk again on their own.

>> reporter: brian and anna mcguinn are all kisses and smiles now. but they weren't when he accidentally threw her $10,000 engagement ring in the garbage. >> i remember her giving it to me after the -- in the shower with my disposable razor. and i knew i pitched it in. >> reporter: what brian did next, was true love. after tracking down the garbage truck that picked up for their neighborhood, he headed here, the dump. >> it carries nearly 9 tons of garbage. if you think about that, that's more than a need until a haystack. >> reporter: before brian headed inside the dump site, he was given some items to keep him safe, like this protective white suit, some goggles, a hard hat, a mask. but nothing to protect him from the stench. >> when i walked in, i got ill. >> reporter: still, brian persevered, knowing his wife of five years would be crushed if
