>> we're going to start with the news that sept shock waves internationally from afghanistan to washington today. >> officials say a u.s. army staff sergeant left his base in kandahar afghanistan walked into people's homes and opened fire. 16 silions were killed including nine children and others. >> outrage and grief have overwhelmed afghan villagers in what was once the cradle of the taliban. a u.s. army staff sergeant left his base, entered three near by homes and shot and killed 16 silions in their bed. it is believed that some of the bodies were also burned. the attack sparked immediate outrage from karzai who called the incident unforgiveable. >> we deplore any attack by a

member of the u.s. armed forces against innocent civilians. >> it's going to complicate missions but also it just i think we're all affected by senseless death regardless of how it happens. >> last month korans were inadvertently burned leading to violence that killed doze ns of people including americans. there are now grave concerns that these significant missteps could put american troops in additional peril. >> one incident like this in the minds of the civilian populations as well as the battle against the terrorists in afghanistan can change the equations. >> maryland's governor believes this is yet another reason to bring troops home as soon as possible. >> i think this underscores how important it is for us to conclude our involvement as we have in iraq. >> and to get more perspective on how this latest incident

which seems surprising in mitt and the poll shows him within striking distance. >> and he's been brushing up obhis southernisms. >> it seems to be work forg him at least as far as the polls go. >> and he came out today calling the romney campaign desperate for delegates. they sent out an e-mail touting their delegate count and santorum fired back calling him desperate. >> if anything he is pretty far behind in the delegate count. the truth is mitt romney's campaign is right about this. they're doing it for strategic advantage. but as far as the delegate mass goes they're in a pretty commanding position right now. and if things go as they are now he can probably wait it out until april, may, jun and hopefully for him get enough delegates. >> and talking about the

then will really expand come wednesday thursday and friday. and we're going to have a little humidity. so it will feel a little more sticky. temperature change from 24 hours ago, a big change at reagan national airport. now 13 degrees warmer as we move through the overnight hours. high clouds now beginning to approach western maryland pushing in our direction. we'll see the high clouds stick around for the morning hours. but i'm confident the rain off to the west of us won't arrive until late in the day and to the evening especially across washington counties around 11:00 tomorrow night and then by tuesday everything should start to clear out by midday with plenty of sunshine by late afternoon. 38 to 48 degrees for a night time low. the colder temperatures off to the west. the milder temperatures in the district for the day tomorrow looks good. 64 degrees. a few showers will be possible but limited to 30-40% chance
