luncheon for a new mission to find the wreckage of amelia earhart's plan. in 1937 she was trying to be the first woman to fly around the world won her point disappeared in the south pacific. analysis of photographs show what experts say could be landing gear sticking out of the water near a remote island. the scientists will go to that remote island in july and search for the wreckage. a lot of people like ice -- liked ike, but there are some who did not want a memorial. among those testifying the 34th president's granddaughter. she told the panel that her family once the memorial redesign. >> one of the main flaws of the current proposal is eisenhowers contribution to this nation is not the central theme of the design. >> the creator of the memorial has proposed a parked framed by large metal tapestries.

it would feature a statue of a young eisenhower looking at two large carved stones, eisenhower as president and world war ii hero. virginia's general assembly approved a bill that allows the commonwealth to sell road and bridge naming rights. lawmakers hope the bill could raise more than $27 million of revenue over five years. the program takes effect july 1. a sudden about-face for the arlington police chief over a memo about so-called ticket quotas. he did not officers had to have a certain number of arrests but some people just are not buying it. >> many arlington residents have suspected the police department had a monthly quota of four the number of tickets they issued. this leaked internal memo seemed to confirm suspicions. it shows commander setting guidelines for how many arrests

parking tickets, and traffic summons officers should have every month or else be disciplined. >> i cannot believe they put that in writing. >> the arlington police chief could not believe it either. he quickly called a press conference today. >> i think it was a mistake. i think the intent was to provide some guidelines, it was not an intent to threaten officers to hit a number. >> the police chief said he learned of the memo yesterday and admits it gives the false impression that a system is in place within his department. >> the emphasis here is quality not volume. we expect officers to make arrests, and write tickets and it enforcement actions each and every day but we did not want to put an arbitrary number on it. >> the damage to the reputation is already done for many residents. >> the underlying mentality is still there.

>> 7 on your side with an alert, dating websites are now on watch for criminals or registered sex offenders using their sites. well their new efforts pay off? we looked into it. millions of people go to dating sites in hopes of finding romance. for elizabeth, who did not want to show her face, she thought she met the man of her dreams after joining match.com. over the computer, he said he was a fine dining shep who owned a home in florida.

then he asked for elisabeth to pay for him to visit her in d.c.. >> there was coordinating things. >> through a private investigator, she found out that her online boyfriend had lied about everything. what was most alarming was his history of domestic abuse. >> it was frightening. i was very glad that my fleet instinct kicked in. >> this week several dating websites banded together to strengthen protections. that is part of a lawsuit settlement after a california woman sued for being raped by a registered sex offender that she met on a dating site. a spokesperson for match.com said they already had a system in place. >> the nature of the internet is such that it is hard to police that sort of thing. m. kathleen knows that firsthand after joining a freed dating site. >> i have seen more than one guy

the south. cold air of to the north and west, milder temperatures off to the west. we have a big temperature change from this time yesterday about 15 degrees colder. updated, now 13 degrees cooler than it was 24 hours ago. slow-moving low pressure, this bid in the atmosphere, moving off to the east. we had a little bit of sunshine across southwestern virginia flaring up with thunderstorms earlier in the afternoon. a little closer, all of the warnings and watches have been canceled for central virginia southern virginia, good news there. we still have another band of showers and thunderstorms slowly moving off towards the north and east. that will eventually affect calvert county, st. mary's county, charles county over the next hour or so. do not be surprised to hear rumbles of thunder, nothing severe. the future-cast, skies cleared nice on monday. cooler temperatures tuesday.

>> the firefighters got help. duncan and his body grabbed a fire extinguisher and went to work. authorities say an electrical problem ignited a curtain in the auditorium. if he had not put out the fire, things could have been worse. >> it could have caught other things on fire. we have a bunch of fabric seats. it could have been bad. >> he just relied on his instincts. >> this is where the story gets crazy. he helped put out the fire just before he was already scheduled to receive another award for another heroic act. it was for saving a man's life in september by performing cpr. the man had collapsed his heart stopped. get this, he had never taken cpr. >> my dad had given me some impromptu baby steps on how to do it. >> helping with the fire and the
