we will kick things early with " good morning washington" at 4:30 a.m. president obama signed more than 20 executive orders on wednesday, many of which called for increased funding to research the effect of guns. >> over in maryland, the governor is also taking aim at gun violence. this week he unveiled a three- part plan to curb gun violence in the state. it includes an all-out ban on military style assault weapons a 10 round limit on ammo magazines and what he called commonsense licensing for all firearms firearms stopped and sold in maryland. >> if you have to get a license to drive a car on the streets, or a motorcycle on the streets i think most people from maryland agree that you should

drug charges. >> the sheriff's office has released a composite sketch after a crime on wednesday. this is who grabbed a 13-year- old girl as she was walking to her bus stop. he tried to force the girl into a van that had two other men inside. she escaped and ran home. investigators are reviewing surveillance video from school buses in the inverted. >> in austria a trial for anne arundel county executive is underway. he is accused of using police for a variety of tasks including standing guard while he had sex in a county vehicle. he is opting for a bench trial. on the first day of testimony, a former aide described the humiliating tasks he made them do, such as getting on all fours to empty his catheter bag. the testimony was almost too hard to listen to. >> it is personal for me to see her have to describe her fear.

you are not only at the swearing, you are also heading to some of the balls. a year ago, could you have imagined doing this? >> i cannot imagine even going out to london, i never thought it would get me here. at the inauguration. this is mind blowing. >> any of your teammates going to be here? >> i think it is just me. >> kind of special. >> you have taken some time off from gymnastics, you have been busy with her new book. talk to me about that. >> it is all about my struggles my success, and the road to london and my life story. >> most teenagers would say they have not exactly had struggles and successes by the time they are your age. really, you have lived a lifetime of those sort of things, haven't you? >> i had a lot of experiences.

gymnastics is a tough sport. dealing with the pressure, the stress, and going through struggles in my life. i wrote a book. >> i was joking, saying we were interviewing you about your memoir, and i do not have enough stuff for a bio page. what would you say is the main take away for girls who want to follow in your footsteps? >> to be inspired and motivated and believes in and trust yourself. >> at one point, you wanted to give it up? what pulled you through? >> i wanted to quit because i was homesick. what pulled me through was everyone around me supporting supporting me and telling me that i could do it. >> that happens. people always want to come back home. we completely understand. you had great success in london. your plans for -- rio is a nice city. >> it is beautiful. i want to go. >> not as a visitor though right?

the cold air will arrive. suitland, maryland is now at 42 degrees. upper northwest d.c. is now at 42 degrees. gaithersburg at 43. southern maryland, in the middle 40's. temperatures in the single digits to below zero across north dakota and northern minnesota and wisconsin. this colder air is eventually going to break apart and move our way. it arrives on tuesday wednesday, and thursday. talking about nighttime lows in the city in the mid-teens and the suburbs could be temps in the single digits. the windchill factor on top of that, it will feel even colder than that. satellite and radar -- it is quiet and clear right now. this is the first frontal system.

our futurecast will show highs tomorrow afternoon around 50 degrees in the district. as the cold front moves on by, our temperatures will begin to fall in the mid to upper 30's. into the 20s across the panhandle of maryland and west virginia. monday, inauguration day, martin luther king day, looking at a chance for some like snow -- light snow, may see some minor accumulations. it should not cause any problems. the bigger issue will be the very cold air on the way tuesday and wednesday. we will finally get a little bit of a break from it on thursday night into friday. here is our forecast for the overnight hours. namely clear skies, upper 20s to lower to middle 30's. tomorrow, a bit breezy. 45-53 degrees. and i duration forecast looks for temperatures in the 30's to around 40. after the noontime hour, into
