>> live from the abc seven broadcast center, this is good morning washington. watch.re on storm it is not just the snow you should be worried about. it is the cold and the wind. captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- quacks let's get right to it. closings and delays. a twoderal government has hour delay and d.c. public schools are closed. administrative offices are on a two-hour delay. montgomery county, prince george's, st. mary's, and washington county schools are all close today. >> so are arlington and fairfax counties.

other closings and you can see a full list at the top and the bottom of your screen throughout the broadcast. because then is snow is out there and it is so cloaked -- cold. >> good morning. the snow is over and done with and our storm is still affecting parts of the northeast. we take a look at the radar picture and show you where the storm system is. to hitw is continuing parts of long island and up in connecticut. has pulled way off the shore and we are doing a lot better with the drier weather for today. look at these temperatures. it is 12 degrees in washington dc. our winds are strong and look at the factor. tos is the thing you need keep in mind. it feels like negative seven in

d.c. and negative five in manassas. it will be bitterly cold all day long. single digits at best this afternoon. later today, it is a little bit of good news that, it will stay cold all week long. icy spots around, unfortunately. let's take a look at our storm analysis and let you know who has what in just a few minutes. let's head to the traffic center. two blocks in front of our studio. >> yeah, absolutely. >> walking and driving our hazards. you absolutely have to get somewhere. we have current conditions on the wilson bridge and you can see that things are moving along. it is clear on the beltway and the clearest road that we have

right now. it will be a little deceiving for you. it is clear in some stretches and completely covered in other stretches along some of the major roadways. the secondary roadways are still a complete mess. thatay bridge, if you use out towards eastern shore or vice versa, there are restrictions in place. the beltway, as i said, looks good. the main thing is the conditions on the roadway. and three 95 have hov lanes open and those will be the lanes that have not been treated as much. if you have to commit to main leanes, make sure you stick to the right if you absolutely have to head out. usually, it gets cleared up a little bit faster.

quacks and, we are on storm watch this morning. you are looking live at the d.c. area. car very slowly. roads hearing the primary in most places have been cleared and the secondary roads can be dicey. it is very cold out. we know there is ice on the roads. i could see all those puddles that were frozen over. >> right. you know, the colder temperatures are less affected but, that is something to keep in mind. we are under a wind chill advisory across the region on telecommuting today. we expected to diminish and temperatures to warm up. take a look at the current

temperatures across the region. zero are all feeling sub- and you want to cover up. you do not want to have exposed skin. let's talk about snowfall. we acquired two inches or more of snow was back in january. you remember that? how much do we end up with? it was a record breaker. had 2.8.n, d.c. dulles had 8.5. i think it was really good overall. the heavier band was in westminster. we really thought that you would get a little bit more if it intensified off the coast. things worked out as expected here. at 9:00, it will be 12 degrees. 4:00, it will be partly

completely cleared this morning. just be careful. if you do not have to head out, as i said, stay home. the are a lot of minor problems on the roadway. no major closures so far. the with stretches are in place for -- restrictions are in place or tractor-trailers. under 40to keep it miles an hour if you are traveling. there are no columns or delays on the beltway. on 95, it is moving nicely from virginia up to quantico. up, if you usually use those, they are not as clear as the main lanes. you will want to stick with the main lanes. i will send it back over to chris. airoing back, we go to the and that huge problems that the storm has caused for travelers. >> a local man

woes. this is brutal out here morning at reagan international airport. if you are flying or taking a train, this will affect your travels. here areagan national, there is a good amount of snow on the reallyand the wind is picking up in priority for the ground crews this morning. they are pushing all the snow off of the tarmac. there is a lot of piling going on around the airport. the roads are still a bit of a mess this morning. around thee and country are being canceled and delayed. more than 1500 flights have been canceled nationally and 2000 have been delayed at last check yesterday. they are on par to match that or go. if you are looking at a plan b, a friend of mine's flight was

the wind chill is minus seven and the winds are out of the north at 23 miles an hour. they will diminish and will keep up a little bit more to keep things a little bit cleaner. the temperatures will not but a whole heck of a lot. check out the windchill across the region. it feels like six degrees below zero in gaithersburg. 14 below in hagerstown. martinsburg is 10 below. our futurecast is showing you the later morning hours. the winds start to diminish a little bit and we get into the lower single digits. this afternoon, into the lower teens. that may be optimistic. overnight hours and it will still be bitterly cold and feeling like single digits. there'll be a little recovery into tomorrow afternoon.

let's look at the storm as a whole. these will be most remembered for being impactful and for the cold. you can see it offshore as we speak and we are still getting and up on the jersey shore towards long island. this is impacting the mid- atlantic and the court or. high-pressure is moving in and it will go off to the west. tomorrow, it will bring us a little bit of cloud cover, i think. of us areat the rest going to be fine. here's your forecast today. partly cloudy this afternoon and breezy and cold. there will be in windchill advisory and our temperature will be between 12-16 degrees. here is a look at the forecast. we will make a little bit of progress by the end of the week
