>> want to update the breaking news about councilmember marion barry. he was involved in a car accident this evening around 9:00 in the 2900 block of pennsylvania avenue southeast. we just spoke with the police department. they are investigating this accident. there are reports that at least one of the vehicles may have been travel in the wrong direction. that is part of this investigation. we understand there were no life threatening injuries, only nonlife threatening injuries, minor damage in this accident. as we get more information we'll of course bring it to you. bryan joins us on set for a last check of the forecast. >> maybe' stray sthour or two. tomorrow, i think a little better shot for stray showers. it will be warm and muggy, in the middle 80's. next week, the first full of august, it will feel like near 0, with isolated afternoon

>> tonight doctors in the u.s. are working to save the life of one of their own who's infected with the ebola virus. he arrived in atlanta this afternoon from west africa where the outbreak has killed hups of people. >> the man you see climbing out of the ambulance, dr. kent brantley is the first ebola patient on u.s. soil. wearing protective gear to prevent transmission of a vicious virus that has killed hundreds in west africa over the past few months. for now, dr. brantley who was infected while trying to contain a frightening outbreak in liberia, will be treated in a

special isolation ward in emory university in atlanta. >> it's designed to protect against infections above and beyond what's probably needed for ebola. >> his wife talked to her husband today, separated by thick glass. the family is concerned. >> i know he was feeling a little bit better and hopeful for that. > dr. brantley's co-worker at ebola treatment center is also infected. she'll alive rive back in the u.s. in the next several days in the same evacuation plane that flew her colleague home equipped with its special isolation tent. the virus spreads by contact with bodily fluids. there is no cure. alarming some here in the u.s. >> i understand the public's concern this is a new infection for the u.s. but we really have processes that maintain the safety of not just the patients but the general public at large.

a frightening scene in northwest washington after a tree crushed a vehicle. t happened anded the witnesses said the tree appeared healthy when it suddenly topled over striking a van. .> we just parked the car no wind, no rain. just the crash. >> they just break up the sidewalk. >> it took workers about three hours to chop up the 80-year-old oak. the grounds crews handling arlington national cemetery got a helping hand this week. volunteers from a landscaping company showed up to introduce up a large piece of the property. many of the volunteers have personal reasons for performing this annual act of service.
