ahead, you'll want to plan ahead if you are taking metro on monday. changes in service because of labor day and track work. the system will open at 7:00 a.m. monday and close at midnight. trains will operate on a sunday schedule. free at the be parking facility. track work will continue through monday. on the red line, bethesda and medical stations will remain closed. a former district heights officer who shot a handcuffed suspect will be sentenced. the suspect was in handcuffs and apparently trying to get away. on $100,000 bond.

on tuesday, more students head back to school. the city of alexandria, arlington, fairfax, loudoun, a willington counties are just some of the jurisdictions kicking off classes. we'll have complete coverage tuesday morning at the crack of predawn at 4:30 a.m.. is not your typical school, it is in an old office building that has been empty. rebecca cooper- shows how bailey's upper elementary school -- >> it's like walking into a high-end apartment building. one filled with all the tools you need for teaching. is so above and beyond and unexpected. i think the kids will be over the moon, the teachers already are. >> in this case, serious overcrowding was the mother of invention.

the route on 8th street between union station and the river. in the last month, 143 tickets have been issued at $100 apiece. eight vehicles have been towed. thiss been two years since swept through the d.c. region among them -- damaging buildings including a church. now the church is getting a new steeple. >> for many, it was a divine site. the steeple for the catholic church raised high into the sky, seemingly to the heavens and returning to the spot it stood for 50 years. >> our neighbor called and said they are putting the steeple backup, so i came over and filmed it. several residents of this kensington, maryland community him out to see the spectacle. it has been 26 months since the steeple was brought down and destroyed part of the roof.
