dan. >> alex, thank you so the question, of course, is when do we get a break from the severe weather? over to rob who is tracking it all. good morning, sir. >> the shift has moved to the east but it won't be as bad as it was yesterday. the last two days as a matter of fact but the rainfall is what's the most dramatic. over 5 inches in louisville and lexington, jackson, the most they've ever recorded in a 24-hour period. look at these storm reports. 64. mostly wind and hail throughout the day and in those two area low pressure moves off to the east. the change in the weather will be across the northeast where the back side is going to have cold air. with that we'll see snow. could see over 8 inches in the higher elevation, northern new york, northern new england and strong winds today so even though it's spring we're feeling a little bit of winter weather across the northeast. we'll talk about that later on. >> all right rob, thank you. we do have more disturbing signs of homegrown radicals on u.s. soil. another woman, the sixth american in just the last few weeks has been busted for allegedly trying to join isis

oversees or even launch an attack. from philadelphia and was traced through her social media account where allegedly she told an isis fighter the opportunity, quote, would be amazing. abc's jim avila joining us from the white house. hi, jim. >> reporter: good morning, paul l.a. it's become one of our biggest homeland security threats, americans threatening other americans with terror. turning on their own country. take a look at this exclusive video from our station in philadelphia, wpvi. a federal agent searching the home of 30-year-old keonna thomas, just two days before prosecutors say she was set to board a plane to join isis fighters overseas. thomas officials said went by young lioness telling a known isis fighter that becoming a martyr would be amazing, a girl could only wish. >> on wednesday we'll be back in court for a detention hearing and preliminary hearing. >> reporter: thomas, now the

third american woman in just two days arrested on terrorism charges after a sting operation thursday captured two new york women allegedly planning to detonate a bomb somewhere on u.s. soil. according to court documents, 28-year-old noelle velentzas and fellow queens native asia siddiqui, prosecutors say the pair were obsessed with pressure cookers like those used to attack in the boston marathon to launch an attack on homeland. >> this is another great example of the fbi getting in front of a potential terrorist act and basically are able to sort of control what happens. >> reporter: investigators say thursday's arrest was triggered when siddiqui who allegedly calls osama bin laden a hero gathered several propane tanks along with instructions on how to turn them into explosives. her attorney says she plans to plead not guilty. >> i know it's a serious case but we're going to fight it out

in court. >> reporter: noelle velentzas' defense did not comment. if convicted thomas would serve 15 years in prison. she has not entered a plea. dan and paul. >> jim avila, we thank you. time to check the morning's other headlines. we get it over to ron. you're leading with breaking news on an escaped killer. >> actually we just changed and had an updated story overnight is a casino brawl right here in queens. a massive brawl inside of a packed casino here in new york city, the dramatic scene inside the resorts world casino in queen, it happened late friday night captured on cell phone video. two dozen were involved in the melee. chairs were flying in parts of the 4-year-old casino trashed. so far people have been arrested in connection with that fight. no word on how many were injured and now to that story that you're referring to there, dan. new details breaking overnight. a convicted killer at the center of a dramatic prison escape has brian williams captured. kamron taylor, you see him there

in possession of a gun and arrested friday. surveillance pictures wednesday from the corrects facility show the 23-year-old wearing the uniform of an officer that he was accused of overpowering and allegedly stealing his keys before making his getaway. a somali militant gro promised more blood bloody attacks. this morning a survivor of that was found alive after hiding out in a cupboard for two days. this as the kenyan interior minister says that there were five arrests in connection have been made with that attack. a solemn procession in rome as the pope celebrated good friday mass. at one point pope francis praying before the main altar, you see there at st. peter's basilica. the pontiff leading a can'tle lit procession around the colosseum. the symbolic walk around rome's

most famous landmarks commemorating jesus' final walk through the streets of jerusalem carrying the cross. sarah brady, the widow of james brady has died. her late husband of course was gravely wounded during the attempt on president reagan's life in 1981. afterward she became one of the country's leading advocates of gun control. sarah brady was 73. a pet owner's cat cam video has helped police nab a couple that they say pulled off a string of thefts and burglaries. the video shows the man allegedly breaking into a home armed with a large knife and taking off with bags loaded with items from that house. police say the man in the video and his girlfriend are believed to have stolen $9,000 in jewelry at a local walmart. >> the camera was on the actual cat. >> the camera was on -- yes. >> cats are known for a lot of thing, crime stopping, not one of them. >> it worked out. >> we got more. finally, a missouri woman gets her stolen car back with some

linzie janis is on the story. >> reporter: florida is ground zero for shark attacks and beachgoers on high alert after this latest attack the victim bitten at least twice by a suspected bull shark. this morning, a man lucky to be alive after his spearfishing trip off the coast of the jupiter inlet turned violent. >> he was bleeding quite a bit. >> reporter: the victim attacked friday by what some witnesses believe was a bull shark. >> you could see his wet suit was embedded in it and looks like it took a good chunk out. >> reporter: suffering wounds to his torso and neck was air of-lifted conscious the entire time. yesterday's horrific incident comes just as spring break is in full swing families and college students flocking to florida beaches have plenty of unwanted company. these destinations common for the deadly predators, more than half of u.s. shark attacks in

filing this motion overnight, asking the judge to declare durst's arrest in the new orleans hotel illegal after prosecutors called no witnesses and despite being subpoenaed by the defense, two fbi agents and a state trooper never showed up. >> we're entitled to cross-examine the witnesses against us. you cannot cross-examine an affidavit. >> reporter: the agents were supposed to testify about the warrant used to search durst's room where they discovered a .38 caliber special revolver and marijuana. degeurin says there was no probable cause and because of that the prosecution's case is shockingly inadequate. >> there is almost no chance that a judge is going to rule that the arrest warrant was invalid. this case is almost certainly going to go to trial. >> reporter: the legal roadblock a surprising turn for a case that shot to national fame with what appears to be durst's on-like confession at the conclusion of the hbo docudrama "the jinx." >> i killed them all, of course.

>> reporter: the judge issuing a ruling on thursday the trial for at least one more week pending the outcome of an april 9th hearing to determine whether durst can be extradited to california to face the first degree murder charge and saying the missing law enforcement officers may be held in contempt of court for what degeurin called a misguided attempt to conceal facts. now, in the california murder case, durst could face the death penalty. but right now he's being held without bail in louisiana on those gun charges and could stay there until they are resolved. a lot of issues going on. >> this may not resolve quickly. >> could take a long time before we get to the murder case. >> thank you in now a farmer is reliving the moment that he thought he was a goner. eric baker knew that climbing into a grain bin is a risky thing to do but never thought his life was about to change in an instant. >> what i was doing specifically that day is by far the most dangerous thing a farmer can do. on a farm you're always around

looking good. 48 degrees. and it's going to be kind of breezy today. that front that brought all that severe weather across the midsouth is pushing off to the east but the back side of it will bring some chilly conditions across not only the northeast but parts of the appalachians, as well. wind advisories could see them gusting to 50 miles an hour and we touched on northern new england could see several inches of snow. just the winter that won't end across parts of the northeast. here's your front pushes off towards the east. temperatures will cool behind it. 50s in new york city. 39 in buffalo. 60 in. thankfully drier across the flood zone of the ohio river valley. still dry out west for now and warm. 91 degrees expected at palm springs, 81 in los angeles. you'll cool down a little as we go towards next week. 91 for the high temperature in phoenix. and what would today be without an easter sunday forecast with your colored eggs. nice and rain across parts of the south and showers roll into northern california. >> and good morning washington.

starting to shift in fascinating and sometimes moving ways. this would not have been possible even just last year. >> so you looked it up. good job. >> reporter: a public school for 13 years, public education was outlawed by the prophet of the flds warren jeffs who even though he's now in prison for marrying and raping underage girls is alleged by federal authorities to still govern nearly every aspect of life in this polygamist community where the women wear prairie dresses but now in these twin towns along the border of arizona and utah his grip appears to be weakening as this school illustrates. for keisha barlow it's her first time in school. >> i thought it would be kind of weird but i guess it's okay. >> i have noticed that sometimes they will be wearing your traditional dresses or your traditional wear. they have slowly evolved into blue jeans.

>> reporter: there are other signs of change here. a new subway and the decision by warren jeffs' bodyguard to purchase a compound built for the move fete and turn it into a bed and breakfast. >> these are typical rooms here and very comfortable. >> reporter: the church is under legal assault too. the federal government accusing local officials here of being controlled by warren jeffs, a charge town council members did not seem to want to answer. you wouldn't want to respond to that? an attorney for the town council later insisted that officials do not take their orders from jeffs but it's clear in this divided town that many believe their prophet an admitted pedophile is a victim of prejudice. is that the true of what's happening with the prophet? >> in my opinion, yes. >> reporter: despite the ongoing tension optimists point to this school as evidence that this community is now firmly on its way to joining mainstream america.
