shocking, march 24, a young child found a loaded gun without a safety near speaker john boehner's office. abc news caught up with him and asked him about it, but -- >> no comment. jonathan: two weeks ago, another loaded glock was found. the idea of a loose guns is especially disturbing considering there are more than 3 million visitors per year here. capitol police would not comment on the specifics, but they say that every security lapses thoroughly investigated. kellye: a week after a massive earthquake in nepal, the death toll exceeds 7000. the potential for disease is a major concern for international aid groups helping survivors. aid workers say that more medical supplies, tents, and water is needed, along with helicopters to reach people in remote villages.

people wanting to take metro to dulles airport will have to wait a year longer than they planned. jeff goldberg looks at the new delays for the silver line. : jeff while construction may be moving, for many it is not moving fast enough. >> we are disappointed. jeff: the general manager of pj mulligan sits close to the proposed herndon station, stage two of the silver line. the announcement the line will open 13 months behind schedule, from 2018 to 2020 -- >> we could lose out on the growth of the business. jeff: the growth will wait. >> it will have a major impact. >> there are a myriad of changes that caused this. jeff: the director of the project says more than 150 design changes are a major

lab and southwest, all dna testing has come to a halt. >> at least we know the pathway we need to get to to have a lab we can believe in. brianne: a national accreditation board found major problems at the facility. among the issues highlighted procedures for the interpretation for dna data were insufficient or inadequate. employees evaluating dna without proper training. and different guidelines being used for dna evidence that need to involve more than one person. the mayor ordered a 30 day action plan to fix the problems. mayor: we are looking for a lab that can handle the amount of business we will give them so all of our confidence can be confident in it. brianne: the u.s. attorney's office raised the concerns last year. they ordered their own audit and similar deficiencies were discovered.

"the u.s. attorney's office is hopeful the department of forensic sciences will act upon the experts recommendations and work collaboratively to ensure the the integrity of future dna analysis." this person says she is hopeful the city will work to fix all of the issues at the lab. >> going forward, there is already backlogs on a lot of dna samples so how is the city going to ensure that does not create a bigger backlog than the one that exists. brianne: the mayor said this is the criminal justice system, so they are not focusing on speed but accuracy in making sure they have them correct. she also says the review will not stop the prosecution of any crimes happening in the district. we know this facility has a minimum of 30 days to begin fixing these issues. brianne carter, abc 7 news.

kellye: the man accused of raping a nun in prince george's county held without bond. the police say that juan randolf broke into the woman's home in chuillum and attacked her for stop he was charged in the past with secretly videotaping women in the bathroom of the public library. a bishop charged with a deadly dwi has resigned from her post. the diocese of maryland has been asking for heather cook's resignation since january after the crash. the diocese says it is not releasing a copy of her resignation letter. she goes on trial performance manslaughter and other charges in june. a never before seen look at the efforts in nepal, and israeli soldier strapped a go pro camera onto his sniffer dog.

county, a woman gone missing for years ago without a trace. there is a bone chilling letter that was found five years after she wrote it. the case continues to baffle detectives. abc 7 is on your side, and jennifer donelan takes us through this. jennifer: she penned a letter when she was 19 years old. all of her plans were in black and white -- get married, have a child, start a career, go to europe. >> she had lots of dreams of what her future would look like. it's nothing like this. jennifer: decker has been gone without a trace since 2011. her former husband will not voluntarily talk to detectives anymore. her boyfriend is and still is a person of interest. in the case is further complicated by a three-week delay between the last time she

was seen in the first call to 911. >> a lot of evidence and leaves evaporator. jennifer: at the time, decker was 21 and married. she and her husband had a young son. she was taking classes at george mason university and working at a restaurant. a coworker began an affair with decker while her husband was serving in afghanistan. he moved into her apartment in ashburn. the family says it went badly. >> he was physically abusive. jennifer: the timer for disappearance, she was three months pregnant. the family said the husband knew about the affair but still travel to why he with her to patch things up. however, she did not show up days later when he redeployed to afghanistan. >> she dropped off the face of the earth. jennifer: just months ago, her

kellye: hard to top today. devon: it was really nice, but we are going to do it. they should last through the week. we have a couple of days with rain chances, but they are not very good chances. the humidity, many times were you feel like you skip over spring and get right to summer that is not coming soon. right now the area still dry clear skies, temperatures dropping quickly. the satellite radar together over the mid-atlantic, a little bit of activity to the midwest but it's so far away because it runs into the warm air that's over us. that will squelch anything that tries to move in. real-time temperatures 78 the

highs, 80 degree st. louis. tomorrow we will be into the 80's. look at the temperature difference with boston, nearly 30 degree difference. that is a big difference, but even they will warm up. the bubble of warm air spreading in come into the 80's. monday is warmer, tuesday will be the warmest day. monday night, the front is back over the great lakes starts to come in overnight tuesday into wednesday. nothing that will wash us out. rain chances coming in because that front may hold together. starting off tomorrow morning one of the last mornings in the 50's. we will be closer to 60 the next couple morning. monday morning, tuesday and wednesday as well. sunshine warmer, towards 80 degrees, a few spots in the lower 80's.

chesapeake bay shows an increase in the blue crab population. the number of crabs is up 38% 411 million, one of the highest totals in the past 25 years. chipotle is no longer using genetically modified ingredients, the first major chain to do so. they began phasing them out in 2013. the ceo made the move citing a lack of consensus about the effects. the fda has found no evidence that foods with gmo's are any different from those developed national it -- naturally. donald's continues to support fire its menu to regain customers. they are eliminating the deluxe ter pounder and six chicken sandwiches. mcdonald's brought in a new ceo in january to combat declining sales. mcdonald's is also testing all-day breakfast in san diego,

kellye: get ready to pay more to visit shenandoah national park. the price of an annual pass has increased to $40. driving into the park seven days will now cost $15.
