u.s. bringing a dangerous mix of tornadoes, flooding blizzard conditions. at least a dozen tornadoes reported sunday. including this one in lake city, iowa. >> there goes the school! there goes the school. >> reporter: watch as the roof of this school is lifted completely off and disintegrates. its debris swirling in the air. >> that's the [ bleep ] school. there goes the roof off the school. >> reporter: a frightening ordeal for the people inside the school at the time for an awards banquet. powerful winds sending these lawn chairs flying. >> holy [ bleep ]. >> reporter: and rising flood waters causing major damage. like this sinkhole that used to be parking lot. and leading to rescues. in some cases, the flooding so veer rescue by land not an option. the national guard forced to air lift many to safety. including this pregnant woman and her best friend's bayby.

>> they couldn't get to us by boat. >> reporter: they made it to safety just in time. in east texas, a flood watch up today. the veer threat has moved off to the east to the gulf coast. across the mississippi river. as far nofrt as the great lakes. this smaszive storm. that does stretch far to the north. clayton sandell reports from south dakota. >> reporter: south dakota slammed with a one-two punch from mother nature. this tornado taking aim at delmont mid morning sunday. it damaged 30 homes. taking out the town's brand-new fire station. along with a centuries old church where sunday school kids ran for cover. >> we huddled in the basement and the bathroom. we knew it wasn't good. >> reporter: nine people were injured. the storm knocking out power and running water. but mother nature wasn't done. walloping the western part of the state with blizzard-like

conditions and nearly two feet of snow. turning highways dangerously slick. >> i have fefr seen snow in may. >> reporter: those whiteout conditions extending to colorado coover over the weekend. snow as much as two to three inches an hour. bringing down trees and power outages. this tornado had peak winds of 130 miles an hour. you can see the damage that causes. now right now, there is no running water. no electricity here. so even for the people who have homes to come back to everyone must stay out until therepairs are made and that can take several days. robin? >> thank you, clayton. we have other sad news. a routine traffic stop in mississippi turned deadly. two lifrs were gunned down over the weekend. this morning, four suspects are in custody, expected to appear in court. a memorial this afternoon for the falling officers. mara schiavocampo is here with the latest. >> reporter: robin, good

morning. officials haven't said why those men suddenly opened fire marking the first time officers were killed in that area in three decades. this morning, a city grieving. after two mississippi officers one once named officer of the year the other, just a rookie are killed in what was supposed to be a routine traffic stop. >> it was like six loud gunshots. >> reporter: four suspects now behind bars. two of them 29-year-old marvin banks and 22-year-old joanie calloway charged with capital murder. it started saturday night when 34-year-old hattiesburg officer benjamin deen pulled over a gold cadillac escalade. he calls fellow officer for backup. shots are fired. banks fleeing the scene. allegedly stealing one of the officer's patrol cars. >> let he out. >> curtis, did you do it?

>> no sir, i didn't do it. >> reporter: all four suspects taken into custody on sunday. officer d erk en leaves behind two children and his wife his high school sweetheart. officer tate graduated from the police academy just a year ago. the race for the white house now revving up with the top gop kptds out in force in south carolina talking of national security as a brand-new poll in the key state of new hampshire offers up new evidence this is a wide-open race. this new poll shows the field about as bunched as it could be. >> you have six declared candidates. another half dozen will get in over the next month. there is notothing close to a front-runner. look at the ploom berg poll in new hampshire, where the candidates are spending most of their time. essentially, a four-way tie for first lace. those candidates not far above the rest of them. number five?

shoulders. what to do, if anything, about the alleged involvement of one ofits biggest stars. the nfl telling abc news they haven't determined a timetable for a decision yet. but many speculating one could come as early as this week. brady, who has been coy about the controversy -- >> i don't have really any reaction. >> reporter: -- was hit hard by the 243-page deflategate report released last week. stating sit more probable than not brady was at least generally aware of the up appropriate activities involving the release of air from patriots' game balls. the scandal transcending sports. >> he [ bleep ] knew. >> reporter: and drawing the ire of pundits. >> they need to suspend tom brady for a year. >> he's involved at a very intricate level. >> reporter: media outlets

pleading for a suspension. now, roger goodell in the hot seat. some nfl fans wonder whether his relationship to patriots owner robert kraft and the popularity of brady will affect his decision. people writing -- who runs the nfl, roger goodell or bob kraft? it's your move roger. typically, the league can punish with discipline included but not limited to $5,000. if they issue punishments, how far will they go? that's the question. >> joining us our good friend and espn football analyst, jesse palmer rks you have talked about you could see a fine coming brady's way. you heard in ryan's report, the outcry for a stiffer penalty. >> a lot of people hoping the nfl will take action and make an example out of tom brady.

ultimately i think a fine is significant enough. cheating is cheating. if you look what the new england pateriots allegedly did, it's a minor infraction. it doesn't impact the game the same way as p.e.d.s or stealing signals. they won the afc title game 45-7 not because of deflated footballs. >> the colts were asked after the game and when this whole thing came up they said the patriots were the better team here. that is one issue, yes. it didn't affect the outcome of the game. and yes, it is a minor infraction. a lot of parents watching saying cheating is cheating breaking the rules breaking the rules. if you don't have a penalty for that what does that say to -- a lot of parent who is are with their kids? >> it's the wrong message. no doubt about it. fair play is the most important thing.the xhirgs of the nfl, he normally wears two hats. he has to represent 32 owners in

>> reporter: her 15-year-old daughter, juliette has a tough time communicating. she's easily upset if she doesn't have hot food. she asked the flight attendant to provide a warm meal. >> no no no. we can't do that. >> reporter: first, she said they refuse period. >> i said maybe after she has a meltdown and is trying to crash and crying, then you'll help us. they said we'll make an emergency landing because of passenger with a behavior issue. >> reporter: you can see the family being asked to leave by a police officer. including juliette who appears calm as she gets up to leave. >> it was traumatic. >> reporter: united airlines saying the crew made the best decision for the safety and comfort of all customers. one passenger saying the girl could be a threat and she was howling. others say she was no more disruptive than a crying baby. and thought the emergency landing was extreme. this morning, donna says she
