home in india to appear at a pretrial hearing last week. the police say the attack occurred in 2005 in this wooded area on a busy road off of fairfax county. he allegedly attacked his victim from behind, pulling her into this area, sexually assaulting her, then a passerby from a nearby apartment startled matthew, who they say fled. they also say they have dna evidence linking matthew to the crime. jury selection for matthew's current trial begins monday. it is hard to know what the alleged victim after all these years is thinking. >> many victims are anxious, very nervous. very concerned about the upcoming trial. they are also at the same time many people who may feel empowered. jay: this person interviews alleged victims of sex abuse to better understand what they may or may not have experienced.

woman will face a judge in the morning on charges that she left her one-year-old daughter alone inside of a hotel room while she went drinking. guests called concerned about hearing a child screaming. the police say the mother returned to hours later. she blew .21 on the breathalyzer. kevin lewis spoke with tashawna myles by phone. kevin: the police said that you were drinking at a bar in left year one-year-old child alone at the hotel room. did that happen? why did it happen? >> [inaudible] horace: she said that she is a recovering alcoholic and his enrolled in a substance abuse program. her daughter is with family members. she hopes once she completes the program that she will get her daughter back.

a string of overdoses involving synthetic drugs has d.c. police on alert. nearly a dozen people at the homeless shelter were hospitalized friday after using synthetic marijuana. dealers frequently change the ingredients while trying to stay ahead of the law. >> it can increase heart rate and could cause a heart attack or stroke. horace: the spike in overdoses prompted mayor muriel bowser to issue a public health advisory. the administration is working with various departments. they are trying to combat the growing problem. turning to metro, the next batch of 7000 series railcars will hit the tracks tomorrow morning. this particular eight-car train will operate on the red line for now. the first seven thousand series train began service on the blue line in april. the new cars have wider aisles and digital signboards. hundreds of 7000 series cars

and sunshine, we can tap into those temperatures and average them. that gives us are high. however, satellite radar the big batch of storms blowing off the cloud cover closer to washington. not going to play a huge part in the forecast. s not a warm front, going in the wrong direction, it is a cold front. that is what has sparked the storms. a southwest wind tomorrow, but the latest info gives thus -- gives us a high temperature of 81. if the cloud cover comes in here, it would keep the temps down. the likeliest forecast at this time shows the storms over the midwest will go to the south, the cloud cover fades away, and we may have lingering clouds the high temperatures close to 90, a strong risk of severe storms tomorrow night. 63 tomorrow morning, the

futurecast still supports that hot and humid. nearly 90 degrees, at least mid to upper 80's. the timing of the storms after 4:00. the likeliest window from 6:00 until 10:00. ahead of the cold front numerous showers and storms. if we get the forecast with the heat and humidity and sunshine, that sets the stage for the storms to become severe. close to 90 is the forecast some of these numbers are a bit low. the storm production center is giving us a risk of severe storms, the marginal risk is the lowest slightest is just slightly above. that is the monday potential. looking ahead tuesday, the front passes, the humidity drops a little, but the dry air allows the temps to warm, so we could be warmer tuesday then tomorrow. what we know for sure, no matter what occurs tomorrow, cloudy and
