there was one subject that turned his warm welcome icy. reporter: the people of kenya lined the streets saturday to cheer for president obama as he made his way through the capital nairobi. the words from the kenyan president for the american leader. the nation's first visit from a sitting u.s. president. for president obama it marks much more. president obama: obviously this is personal for me. there is a reason why my name is barack hussein obama. my father came from these parts. reporter: the visit reminiscent of a family reunion. friday night, he hugged his half-sister when he arrived at the airport. then he met dozens of members of

his extended family. president obama has been here four times before, but this is his first time as president. saturday he ran through a list of events, but things got a little tense when the talked about terrorism and gay rights. president obama: they will be treated differently or abused because of who they love, it's wrong. >> but i also think we don't share our culture, our societies. reporter: security is tight with many roads shut down. one highlight of the trip is expected tomorrow, when president obama will address thousands of cakenyans in sports arena. autria: thousands of commuters bracing for possible service cuts to major public transportation systems in our area. marc and vre say if does not act, it is a possibility.

brianne carter looks at the potential crush for commuters. brianne: thousands upon thousands of riders rely on these rails, but at the start of the year they could have defied a way to get to in from work. >> it would be terrible. brianne: officials say they could potentially have to stop service for marc and vre if congress does not install new safety technology. it is known as positive train controls to detect a locomotive's location and speed and adjust to prevent collisions. vre and marc officials say the technology will be on the trains by years end, but it will not be on some of the tracks. the tracks are owned by others like amtrak, csx, and norfolk southern. csx says they will not have it installed on their rails by the deadline. >> i cannot imagine them not

non-hodgkin's lymphoma in june. a bizarre story from silver spring involving a man that neighbor say is far from friendly. brad bell explains the abuse that land at the neighbor in jail. brad: according to one side this picture shows him knocking down his neighbors fence, then belligerently blocking a neighbor's driveway, and this one is not exactly offering a friendly wave. >> he has thrown stones, he has threatened to shoot him. brad: the family lawyer says it is a five year saga. the family sued the man for harassment. a judge ordered anger management class. then he relied in court about taking them and was convicted of perjury. according to the montgomery county sheriff, he tried to avoid arrest. >> he made that neighborhood a nightmare.

sharks. the incident could happen more often with shark sightings in recent months. >> another shark in ocean city maryland. reporter: a night to remember. 84th street in ocean city, just after 10:00 wednesday night. this family reeled in a six foot shark, identified by the baltimore national pike worried him as a duckie, just 75 yards from the shoreline. that is not where the story ends. >> they put on a life vest, took at a sea kayak, went offshore further, dropped bait in the water. there was a full-sized fish on their. it was a nice chunk of meat. reporter: not long after midnight -- shark number two is

excessive heat warnings, the heat advisory that we had last week. what we are watching is the next weather front north and west, coming closer sunday. sunday is not a lot more hot in the way of heat and humidity, similar to standard a -- similar to saturday. overnight rain chances sunday into monday. the next two days, backing up and starting over. the high-resolution forecast coming in. tomorrow morning, starting off mid 60's, the humidity holding overnight, the temperature up. tomorrow, widely scattered showers and storms. though storm should weaken overnight sunday into monday.

autria: focusing on the work week. monday morning, eileen whelan will be tracking it. giving us homework. 7 on your side after yet another rabiod bat was found in a montgomery county apartment complex. troubleshooter horace holmes is back on the case with the new concerns. horace: residents of this condominium building were caught by surprise. >> we have lived here two years now, have not even seen a bat. horace: a bat was found in one of the apartment, carrying rabies. >> the property has to look into it and everybody else. horace: this is the second time in less than a month at a rabid bat was found in her apartment in montgomery county.

we explain why that is such great news for the district. reporter: this has been years in the making, the ladybird tunnel slowly emerging from the ground as we speak. probably wondering, what is ladybird, why should you care? the project is all about cleaning up the anacostia river and the potomac. ladybird is a boring machine that takes 100 feet underground still cutting through, creating tunnels for the past two years. the purpose of this is to essentially not to have to pour billions of sewage and storm water into the rivers when it rains. the water will be channeled through a four-point five-mile tunnel to a treatment plant. >> the anacostia flows into the potomac, which flows into the chesapeake. we are all interested in the viability of the chesapeake. the chesapeake is in bad shape
