happening with this road. the section of the road is now buckled as a result of this. the water company had to wait for the utility company to come out and do all of the marking on the road before they were able to expurgate -- expedite and get down to the main. the main rupture was likely due to age. once they get in there, they will have to assess the damage, get it repaired, and get the road repaired, as well. for a long time we had water just rushing down the westbound lanes of king street, forcing a very large closure for a section of this this morning. the closure has since narrowed. between 33 at park center drive is where the lanes are shut down. we have one lane to the left getting by currently.

the left lane, traffic is getting by. we do expect that the lane of traffic will remain open through the afternoon. just along to the estimate that this will take? they do hope to have it open by the sick of the rush-hour. it could take even longer. the goal is to get it back open before the thick of the rush-hour. speaking of rush-hour, those traveling on 395, that ran onto the westbound lanes of king street is now reopened. autria: that is a little bit of good news, bri. jamie sullivan has a look at the impact on traffic. jamie: i want to begin with what we are seeing on the capital beltway. you do have traffic moving past

connecticut avenue very well. we have a disabled right here. it is over to the shoulder. you see how loose we are. i want to show you some areas of slowing. 395 southbound, that is one of them. heading out of the city, you do have a little patch of slowing right here. no problem traveling southbound. this is just northbound approaching the 14th street bridge. they are still doing a lot of work with this. this is actually the same area where we had the water main break on june 1. almost two months ago. you have the left lane that you can use. autria: we have one more traffic not to pass along to you.

a major construction project began this morning that will cause single lane closures in both directions along spout run parkway. delays are expected also on the gw parkway. the ramp to the key bridge from the parkway is expected to be closed for five continuous days but that date and time has not yet been determined. speaking of the morning commute, it was a little problematic because of the rain this morning. taking a look outside, a cloudy and humid start to your work week. chief meteorologist doug hill is tracking the storms. doug: still a few storms. outside the belfort furniture weather center, it is cloudy humid, and warm. doppler radar is picking up a few showers and thunderstorms near the winchester area. they are drifting to the southeast through royal right now.

lives matter" and other words on the monument. earlier this month montgomery county executive ike leggett called for the removal of the statue the way final decision has not yet been made. developing now, we are learning new details about the deadly stabbing inside a church in frederick county. one person is dead and another is in serious condition. abc 7's sam sweeney is live. so bizarre. sam: this is a very bizarre situation. this is not an ordinary church. it is set far back from most homes and businesses two miles down a dirt road near a ravine. not many people know that it even exists. it is a korean retreat center. the suspect is a 30-year-old korean man. he lives in alexandria, virginia and his mother brought him to this retreat center five days

ago because she said he needed it. he said that he was very angry with the korean people and he wanted to "invade a korean." he was in his cabin, then he was eating his dinner, he took a knife from the kitchen, when he was called into that church service, he pulled out that knife and stabbed one man. as he was stabbing that man, that man's wife stepped in to try to help her husband and she began stabbing her. that man died and the wife was flown to baltimore to shock trauma, where she remains in serious but stable condition at this hour. the two victims, we are not releasing their names because family members have not been notified right now, they are from korea and are here on a missionary trip on missionary visas. they planned to go back.

ering at the hospital. investigators are still on the scene combing for evidence and they tell us they have not yet found the knife that the suspect says he found -- through in the woods. one of the most bizarre parts is that the suspect called 911 after the incident and he said i stabbed to people and you need to send an ambulance. the 911 operator said, are you ok? he said, excuse me, i just stabbed to people. when investigators arrived, they found him waiting on the side of the road. he is now facing murder charges. i'm sam sweeney, abc 7 news. autria: today, a big announcements by the boy scouts of america. they are expected to end their ban on gay troop leaders. it would allow each local chapter to make its local decisions on leaders. the group voted in 2013 to allow

same-sex youth into the organization. friends and family of one of the victims of the movie theater shooting in louisiana will say their final goodbyes today. a funeral service got underway just about an hour ago now. she was remembered along with 33-year-old jillian johnson during this candlelight vigil last night. john hauser opened fire inside a movie theater. he wrote down the time and the date of the screening of the film "trainwreck" in a journal in his hotel room. the findings indicate that the shooting was premeditated. we know that he had a long history of mental illness and his family once had him committed. despite that, he was able to legally buy a gun at an alabama pond shop. one of the five service members killed by a gunman in chattanooga, tennessee was laid to rest.

hundreds attended marine thomas sullivan's funeral today. massachusetts governor charlie baker was among those who came to pay their respects. tackling domestic violence congresswoman donna edwards and representatives from the nfl and local and federal law enforcement are talking about the growing problem. john gonzalez is that susan high school. john: autria, good afternoon. this is a very unique summit on a very troubling, growing problem in our country. lawmakers came together here at suitland high school with the national football league. recently, several high-profile players have found themselves on the wrong side of this issue. overall, the statistics around the country are startling.

nearly 12,000 women have been killed by an abusive partner since 2001. that is nearly double the casualties from both of our wars. maryland congresswoman donna edwards hosted this roundtable in maryland. 50 victims were killed each year on average. we heard from the face of domestic violence here today the ex-wife of the d.c. sniper, now an advocate who keeps a productive order against the john allen mohammed, against her continued fight. >> at the time, i did not have any resources and no one came to me and my children's aid. now, that has changed. understanding that 80% of victims don't have physical scars. john: according to court records , in maryland, nearly 2000

>> you are watching abc 7 news at noon on your side. autria: a man is out on bond after being accused of shooting and killing a father in front of his family in front of a dramatic road rage and said in. >> don't shoot. i have 911 on the phone. [gunshots] autria: wow. robert doyle is charged with second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault. he followed doyle home to confront them over the incident. doyle held gonzales' family at gunpoint until officers arrived. he has yet to enter a plea. many are mourning the death of bobbi kristina brown the daughter of the late whitney houston and the singer bobby brown, who died last night.

her family said that she is finally at peace in the arms of god. an autopsy will be determined to what led to her death. firefighters out west are in a fierce battle against 24 fires now burning in five states. california has the worst of it with four separate fires coming dangerously close to homes near sacramento. the largest of them is only 10% contained. >> fire is a living, breathing organism. you never know what it is going to do or where it is going to go. >> i'm very worried about my house. this is all i have right here, you know? autria: the lowell fire is burning so bright that you can see it from space. 5.6 million acres have burned so far this season, compared to 1.6

right now. these little areas of showers and storms traveling to the southeast fairly slowly. there could be a few more of those headed this way. temperatures are below average because of the extensive cloud cover, but the heat index is starting to make a comeback. that feel is headed northward over the next few days especially as we get more sunshine into the picture tomorrow and for the rest of the week. scattered showers and thunderstorms are a possibility. a lot of humidity, as well. there is a system to our north and northeast that is going to wash out and stall out. what that means in everyday language is that we will have a chance of showers and storms today, eighth light chance tomorrow.
