a halt. radar,age from flight the glitch blanking the skies from north carolina to maryland. richard reeve is live at reagan national. the glitch has cleared up, but it is still slow going. richard: kellye, the faa said that it fix the glitch at its leesburg facility a little bit before 4:00, but this is the fallout. these folks waiting in line, trying to rebook flights. scene being repeated over and over again up and down the east coast. lines, short tempers, airplanes lined up for takeoff. >> i saw the crowd and thought, ok, what's going on. richard: going nowhere. >> we sat on the tarmac for over an hour. passengersousands of in d.c., baltimore, and new york.

>> it's unnerving. braving the jeane, rebooking line at reagan national. >> we got on the airplane and were told the radar was not available. richard: 150 flight delays and 38 cancellations. york, thisia new area, and not sure where else. achard: the faa is claiming computer glitch in the system, used by air traffic controllers to monitor high altitude flights. passengers, fellow i'm grateful we were on the ground at the time it was happening. said thethe faa problem is having a ripple effect, affecting all east coast flights with delays of up to two hours and more. >> it makes me not feel safe. i shouldndering if just rent a car and drive 15 hours back to new orleans. we don't know how long this will last. richard: this is the bottom

line, look at the schedule, a lot of messages in red, indicating flights leaving at a much later time. at thef folks waiting gates, trying to figure out how to get out of here. a lot of folks don't know when they will be able to leave. richard reeve, abc 7 news. kellye: and breaking news right d.c., a shooting outside of the shaw-howard metro station. roz plater is at the crime scene, what can you tell us? in broad praise daylight shooting happened within the hour, so we are just gathering information. we are at seventh and r, 7th street is closed all the way to florida avenue. the shooting happened at about 5:00 tonight, just outside of the entrance to the shaw-howard metro. we don't know how it happened

was involved, but we are told the victim is an adult male, was not conscious, not breathing, not a lot of good information initially. the police are investigating right now, a number of police, dozens of officers. this happened to the same neighborhood that has been plagued with violence this week. so much so, there was a shooting tuesday night, three men shot in a drive-by near seventh and o. late last week, the police set the shaw in neighborhood to have 84/seven police presence in the neighborhood to help try to combat some of this crime taking place. for the time being, we do not know what led to this. that is also being investigated. andle are walking by shocked that there has been another shooting in this neighborhood today after having so much violence this past week, so much increased police presence in this neighborhood.

as soon as we get information, we will bring it to you. roz plater, abc 7 news. the shooting not far from another homicide scene, a man shot multiple scenes overnight in the 1500 block of first-rate northwest, less than a mile from the shaw-howard station. so far the name of the victim has not been released. annapolis police are trying to track down whatever made phone threats to three separate businesses. they say they targeted two suntrust banks, as well as the giant on bay bridge road, demanding money. the police closed and evacuated the stores. they eventually reopened after clearing the scene, nobody hurt. some of you are saying isolated showers today. overall, this has been pretty much ca;m and clear. devon lucie is in the weather center, a great day to get

to back events organized by the john wall family foundation. yesterday he was in his hometown of raleigh, north carolina, giving school supplies to another 300 lucky kids. have met him before, but a great experience. >> he does a lot of community service. reporter: this was the second consecutive year that wall conducted the back-to-school giveaway. his major motivation is to give youngsters some of the things he did not have growing up. but iilar situations, also what to give back to kids and families who have been less fortunate. when asked what is more gratifying, winning a regular-season nba game or helping out 300 kids, the superstar do not hesitate. >> it has to be helping the kids. i'm more excited seeing their smiles and knowing that i'm making their day, making their year. the flying circuses
