immediately, he backup for me and that he fold down. i hear shots and i was screaming. police say the man was flown to a local hospital suffering from nine left threatening injuries. she and the officer had minor injuries. she insists her stepson has never shown any kind of aggression toward her. neighbors tell me they usually see him sitting on the steps listening to music, describing him as a good kid. prince william county police tell me an investigation into the incident continues. reporting in prince william kenny, jeanette reyes, abc7 news. jummy: a special grand jury has indicted a former fairfax county police officer for second agreement of it all this comes two years after he shot an unarmed man in springfield good video taken in the moments just before the shooting show him standing in the doorway with his hands up just before officer adam torres shot and killed him. federal and local prosecutors

accused fairfax county of obstruction, saying officials were free used to turn over documents during the two-year investigation. was an eight-year veteran at the time of the shooting and right now he is being held without bond. police are releasing some new surveillance video in a homicide investigation and they need your help in identifying and locating three persons of interest in a homicide which occurred back on july 22 on the 400 block of e street northwest. the victim was found suffering from multiple stab wounds and later died from his injuries. investigators are offering a reward of up to $25,000. d.c. police also releasing this surveillance video of suspects in the murder of a former congressional intern. this footage shows burglary suspects from a crime scene. the people in the video are seen taking off from a car and investigators say it looks like the car seen leaving the scene of saturday's murder.

matthew schloss to killed outside the shop metro station. police do not believe he was the intended target. lanierlice chief cathy is talking about the recent increase in violence across the city. she joined our burst of weight on our sister station newschannel 8 this morning. she says that while the number of homicides in the district has increased 30% compared to this time last year, she blames the problem mainly on violent offenders released back on the street. huge lanier: we are seeing numbers of repeat violent gun offenders out in the community, some under supervision, some not. but the numbers are really just staggering right now. jummy: we will have more on how chief lanier plans to combat the spike of homicides. you can watch that tonight on abc7 news at 4:00 and 5:00. a second explosion rocked bangkok today, but luckily, no one was hurt in the latest attack. it comes as police in thailand have potential leads on the

suspects in yesterday's bombings. police are looking for the man seen in that video wearing a yellow shirt outside the hidden tryin -- hidden shrine. backpackn taking off a and putting it down and walking away. the bombing killed 20 people and injured more than 100 others. authorities in indonesia recover the wreckage of that plane that crashed into the mountains on sunday. they are now hoping that the black boxes will help them figure out exactly what caused the crash. the air cross -- aircraft lost contact with control is about half an hour into the flight. the bodies of 54 passengers and crew members have been recovered . firefighters are struggling to contain nearly 100 large wildfires burning in several western states. the department of defense is stepping in to help. for the first time in nearly a decade, the federal government is putting 200 soldiers on the front lines. about 75 homes
