moment in court, just as the judge was setting the trial date for adam torres, the moment he says the date, adam torres fainted and collapsed in court. the judge immediately clearing out the courtroom. here is video we have a paramedics going inside the fairfax county courthouse to check on adam torres. heres' attorney telling us appears to be awake and alert. he was taken to an area hospital and checked out. prior to that moment, genetic revelation. the prosecutor, during the bond ,, adam torresg was disoriented, upset, and in a deteriorating mental state, he had been fighting with his wife, he thought she had been cheating on him and he thought she had

traveled to hawaii to meet a boyfriend. that heattorney argued is not a danger or risk. he was arguing for bond in this case but the judge said because of the severity of the charges, and the circumstances described by the prosecution, he denied bond for adam torres. >> it was pretty dramatic. the human side of you can't help but feel sorry for the entire situation. he has two young children. i'm a father myself. it's not a good situation. from adamno comment torres' attorney following today's hearing or his family members. his wife telling reporters, go away. doing okes said to be after fainting and collapsing in court today. his trial is set for december 14. live in fairfax, jeff goldberg, abc 7 news. anchor: we are following

breaking news from the district. police on the scene of asis basis death investigation in southeast washington. they were called to an area right behind the stanton glen apartments this morning. john gonzalez is there. reporter: this afternoon we still have an active crime scene, detectives have been using canine cameras to collect evidence and at this moment, the medical examiner has arrived to remove this body. this is at the stanton glen apartments, where residents reported shots fired this morning. police are still working to confirm that but what we can tell you is that a man believed to be in his 20's was found behind the apartments here on stanton road in southeast d.c. and police calling this a suspicious death investigation. he was found by a woman walking her dog around 7:00 this morning. according to the area advisory commissioner, it appears this suspicious death does include

foul play. the body was found, a male, and it was found a gunshot wound. [indiscernible] drug that seems to live and grow in mark warner stores. -- more corner stores. referring tois that synthetic drug that has been talked about so much recently in the city. people who have been walking by keep asking, is this number 98? they are referring to the high homicide rate in the city. confirmed 97 homicides so far this year, including a mother gunned down about a mile away yesterday afternoon. we just got word of two other shootings within the past hour in the same area. as for this investigation here, police have not confirmed if it latest murder.

the spokesperson just e-mailed me saying, they are simply investigating right now. john gonzalez, abc 7 news. anchor: all this comes amid a spike in violence crime in the district. the homicide rate stands at 97 with three killings in the past 24 hours. the police chiefs believe the increase is linked to illegal guns. a 31-year-old was killed by a 17-year-old during a dispute with a 12-year-old. both juveniles were wounded by bullets. an early morning fire that force dozens of residents from their woodbridge apartment building. flames broke out around 2:30 this morning just off of jefferson davis highway. firefighters say it was someone cooking that started it. heavy smoke scented dozens of people outside for hours. outsidedozens of people for hours.

some hazy conditions out there right now on your wednesday. we have chances of rain this afternoon. our meteorologist is here with a check of that forecast here it -- forecast. reporter: what a muggy day we have in store. little in the way of sunshine. despite that, we have seen our temperatures rise up. we are 84 degrees at the lunch hour thanks to the winds coming out of the south. at 72, thent is measure of the moisture, and we have a lot of it. we are still hanging on to upper 70's at west. 79 in culpeper. not a lot going on. we have a stray shower here in eastern frederick county. we have had little other than sprinkles. rain chances will increase.

i'm still not expecting a lot heavy showers scattered across the area, just a couple here and there. temperatures should reach the mid to upper 80's with a drier conditions but still cloudy overnight tonight. a much better shot of getting rain tomorrow that could be heavy at times. plus, how about the weekend? are we going to clear out in time? now, oneappening right lane of goldsboro road in bethesda closed because of a water main break. this video taken from news tracker 7. happening between macarthur and massachusetts avenue. we have been following the progress since all this started around 6:00 this morning. sam sweeney is there with how it could impact your evening commute. reporter: good afternoon. one lane is open here on goldsboro road. they do have a flag are in place to get traffic in both directions moving. but take a look at the size of this hole here.

a 74-year-old, 10 inch water main broke this morning. the road on top of buckled. now they have to rip up parts of the street and repave. several hours. a lot of people have pointed out on social media that there's been a number of water main breaks in the last couple of weeks. this is kind of a typical situation, we have a lot of pipes that are very old in the ground here. we have 5600 miles miles, 37% of those pipes are over 50 years old and the types of pipes over 50 years old, 50 years is as old as they are supposed to be in the ground. we are doing to the best we can to get those pipes are placed. reporter: it's not cheap to fix those pipes. it costs about $1.5 million per mile. it will take some time to before those antiquated pipes can be

replaced. wssc is asking drivers to avoid this area. reporting in bethesda, i am sam sweeney, abc 7 news. anchor: jamie sullivan has a check on the roadways right now. reporter: in that area in bethesda we are seeing a little bit of volume and congestion. if you are going to be traveling on goldsboro road, that eastbound stretch is blocked off. everything isund, reopened but you are sharing the lanes between massachusetts avenue. river road, macarthur boulevard both alternate options. we're going to stick with bethesda. they do have some lanes they are shifting and blocking off. as far as the slowdowns right now, we are good to go on the capital beltway. a little bit of slowing on 295.

he remains the republican front runner with 24%. pretty shocking news, former subway spokesman jared fogle is expected to plead guilty to child pornography charges. is accused ofd traveling to quote engage in sexual conduct with a minor and receiving and distributing child pornography. the fbi raided his home in indiana. according to the agreement filed agrees to pay, he $1.4 million in restitution to 14 minor victims and register as a sex offender. he reportedly faces a minimum of five years behind bars. no comments today from fogel or his attorney. fromackers who stole data cheating that cheating website ashley madison have followed through with their threat to post all of that information online.

the online dating site for people interested in cheating on their significant others was hacked a month ago. it happened by a group calling itself the impact team. they threatened to release customer information if the site did not shut down. the information included names, addresses, and credit cards of 32 million users. the information was posted on ebe so-called dark w yesterday, which can only be viewed with a special browser and is not searchable using google or most common search engines. the gas company worker is in critical condition after an explosion at a washington state. that explosion demolished about motel six in bremerton. the hotel manager says someone came into her office last night and warned that gas was leaking at the back of the building. she was able to evacuate gas but two people are still missing. police in thailand have released this sketch of a man they

believe is responsible for monday's deadly bombing at a hindu shrine in bangkok. that attack killed 20 people and injured hundreds of others. surveillance video shows the man was wearing a yellow shirt. redother men wearing those and white shirts helped. police believe they are part of a quote, network. to alaska now, where three men missing in a landslide are presumed dead. fire officials say geologists will have to inspect the stability of the area where the men became trapped yesterday. crews have not been able to dig because of unstable terrain there. the landslides occurred after two and a half inches of rain fell in just 24 hours. i said situation there. we have rain headed our way this evening. reporter: we do. clouds lingering all day long the little fanfare to go along with that. we really could use the rainfall. likely see a few showers across the region today, even

better chance for tomorrow. 7 doppler radar showing you, not too much going on. couple showers have just begun to develop in the last 15, 20 minutes or so, primarily in northern maryland. you can see it's in the county, northeast of their. these haven't been moving a whole heck of a lot. they are very light in intensity. we have a patch here towards spotsylvania, likely going to make its way towards fredericksburg.. think the rainfall we get will be a little bit heavier. our air mass stuck in place here and we are waiting for the system in the midsection to sneak on through. we are trapped in this moist pattern here and we really need that trigger to get closer to get more action going on. our futurecast does depict a couple of showers and

this is the latest update as of the top of the hour at the national hurricane center. winds at 50 miles per hour. it will continue to move on a westerly track and will likely intensify into our first 2015 atlantiche season not expected to impact any land, at earliest late in the weekend or early next week. our forecast around here, mostly cloudy. it will be humid, a few showers or thunderstorms will be possible. 87 degrees. for tonight, warm and muggy. tomorrow widespread showers and thunderstorms. still going to be a warm day tomorrow, well into the 80's. as we look at our seven day forecast we will quiet things down just in time for the weekend. we have got something to look forward to with seasonable temperatures and more sunshine. anchor: we will take that. when it clears up before the weekend that's always a good way to head into those. thank you.

d.c. getting ready to honor the late marion barry. tonight the commission is taking all your ideas on how best to do that. what they might be looking for. it has been a year since the former mayor and councilman marion barry passed away. this past march he would have turned 79 years old. wants to heartee from you. what are some good ways to honor his legacy? we posted this on facebook and twitter and we got quite the response here, well over 100 people responded. let me show you what some of you said. the first person said, a street name. a lot of people suggested that. a school was another suggestion. someone said, i would like to see a park, maybe in the ward eight area. an outreach program for ex-convicts.
