the u.s. army near tokyo. the blast happened at 1 a.m. local time, meaning just around noon here. it lasted for around 15 minutes. this is what we know so far -- this appears to be 25 miles outside tokyo. the army says that this was not a hazmat storage facility and that the depot does not store ammo. the pentagon is speaking out and saying that on-base firefighters showed up to stop the fire from spreading. as far as we know, no one was hurt. stick with abc 7 for the latest on this. a man in laurel hit im suv. the driver? his own girlfriend. we are finding out from police that this was no accident. kevin lewis has the details right now. kevin? kevin: hey there, kelly. this couple was screaming at each other and minutes later his female lover was in hot pursuit

at some point the man left the residence. the woman left in a vehicle. at some point she struck him with the car. >> 30 minutes ago firefighters used industrial sized airbags to lift up the suv and remove the man's body. detectives took her into custody and they are questioning her right now. another development out of prince george's county. a firefighter killed in an early motorcyclee -- wreck. crashing with another driver in the 11,500 block of laurel-bowie road. he made lieutenant 2009. the other driver also died on the scene.

that sound is music to the years of d.c.. a panda giving birth to two panda cubs this weekend. the national zoo was already marking another celebration. diane joins us live with the celebration tonight. >> so far we are told that the giant panda cubs are doing well here at the zoo. this is only the third time that hasant panda in the u.s. given birth to a set of twins. it was all caught on camera here. even though the giant panda cubs were not on display at the national zoo, there was no shortage of excitement as they celebrated her second earth day with a fresh and frozen fruit cake. many came to the zoo the day after she gave birth to twins just to be a part of it all. video of the firstborn giant panda cub during its first
