the report. railng real damage -- damage. it snarled commutes for so many. cause of the derailment was the failure of fasteners that place.e rails in a contributing factor was track condition. it was released that measure out new about the derailment. today, new insight into that. employee operating the track geometry vehicle, the tgv, that identified the rail defect, he mistakenly deleted that information from the report. it means it needed immediate attention. no attention was given because it was deleted. we do not know how to problem continue to go undetected.

essentially an ambush at about 8:00 this morning. , albans right here area. frederick heights officers had a bloodhound track. they believe the assailant got away on foot. about 8:20 this morning the call came in. police did find a man and a woman who had been stabbed. what we have learned from witnesses is that the man and woman stepped out for a little while. they left a child inside. when they came back to the --rtment, they were ambushed three hispanic males waiting inside. the man and woman both stabbed. the man in serious condition and woman with non-life-threatening injuries. not something the neighbors expected. what is going on right now is a

manhunt. be bloodhound was tracking a sent. they are focusing on this area over here. we don't know if that is going to lead to the suspect. two people stabbed, 3 suspects on the loose. they are saying they do not believe this was a random incident. they believe there could have been some sort of relationship between the assailants and the victims. we will bring you the latest later on. in frederick, brad bell, abc 7 news. on the loose in prince george's county and a manhunt underway. the department of public safety says james norris walked away from a home visit. norris is a convicted sex offender with a violent past. jeannette reyes is in hyattsville. manhunt continues for a violent sect offender last seen off of annapolis road.

junior, a former inmate, was on a home visit also of cooper lane when he got away yesterday. the 40-year-old has a violent past. found court records indicating he served in prison for battery, rape and assault. to be recently found mentally unstable. county and state officials led the search yesterday evening using bloodhounds to help pick up a scent. lacks last seen wearing a track suit with a white stripe down the sleeve, blue jeans and new balance sneakers. he's five foot seven and 170 pounds. tamika is a local mother of three. >> you pray that god watches over them. jeanette: in hyattsville, jeannette reyes, abc 7 kelleye: news. kelleye: in the district, police will be out as the city steps up a fight against the crime rate.

sam sweeney is in southeast with details. statistically speaking, this is one of the most violent weekends of the summer and that is why police chief cathy lanier has activated the all hands on deck initiative. here's how it works, every officer in the district will be working this weekend. it starts at 3:00 this afternoon and runs through sunday morning. they will be walking the streets and talking with neighbors. up,ctives will be following police recruits will be passing out information to help fight crime. this is about increasing visibility. it has been a bloody summer in the district, 103 lives lost to murder. it to stop.nts but most of all, the residence in southwest and southeast are desperate for help. >> it is a good initiative. it needs to be longer than a weekend. we are on the going to have safe grounds for a weekend versus the whole year. >> it might work. you got to have faith.
