on your side. >> and right now, the search is on for whoever killed this 17-year-old who was in loudoun county waiting for his school bus. that shooting sent five schools into lockout mode. and put sterling neighborhoods on edge. and at this hour, police are looking for at least two people who are armed and dangerous. we're finding out more about this young victim as well. richard reeve with the latest on the investigation and also about the young man. richard. richard: jonathan, they are still looking for those suspects. danny centeno was one of those teens who always had a smile on his face. just a good person. one friend told us. so a lot of folks were asking, why would somebody shoot this 17-year-old in the street? there were embraces and tears in sterling this night. >> she was a good person. right now, i can't really -- richard: friends and family mourning the loss of 17-year-old danny centeno. >> i was in the room with his girlfriend and cousin.

and they were trying. it was really -- really upset. richard: police say centeno, a sophomore at park view high school, was waiting for his bus around 8:30 friday morning. when two to three young men approached. >> we know at least one was armed and shots were fired from at least one gen. >> centeno badly wounded was pronounced dead at the hospital. friends and schoolmates are devastated. >> i think it's really tragic. he won't get to graduate. he won't get to go to college. richard: for hours, parkview high was placed on lockdown. six other schools were on lockout status. their exterior doors secured. >> i've been here for 30 years. and it's -- we never seen anything like this. richard: at dismissal some students were picked up by their parents with police standing by. >> it's -- the last thing you want to hear and a kid that died. very sad. richard: police have not released a motive. they are not ruling out there may have been gang involvement. young people here say they only know that a life of one of their own has been cut short. >> we were a big community here.

we come together and it is tragic. and sad. richard: now police say they have a fairer idea of where two of the suspects are. they are still looking for what they believe is the third suspect. but no description right now. and no motive although police say they believe this was a targeted shooting. friends, though, of this young man are asking the question, why? live in sterling, richard reeve, abc 7 news. >> lots of folks out there hitting the road to enjoy the outdoor plans for the holiday weekend. will the weather cooperate? meteorologist steph steve has been keeping an eye on things -- steve rudin has been keeping an eye on things. steve: looking at live doppler radar, it is dry inside the capital beltway. further along the mason-dixon line just to the south of gettysburg a few showers. a few thunderstorms. nothing that's going to amount to a whole lot. and they move through the overnight hours. temperatures slowly dropping. 79 at reagan national airport. 75 in gaithersburg.

we'reler into the 60's at luray and elkins, west virginia. our forecast, waking up tomorrow morning, looking at lower 70's. grab the sunglasses if you have outdoor activities planned. it's going to stay sunny for the entire day. midday temperatures around 80. and we'll see highs in the middle 80's. with lower humidity. talking about the beach forecast, and the rest of the holiday weekend forecast, all that and much more coming up in just a few minutes. >> six people hurt after a car crash in aspen hill during the evening rush hour. news chopper 7 flew over the scene and lahill and belpre road. no word on the crash but none of the injuries were life-threatening. new developments to tell you about involving school bus mistakes in prince george's county. since classes started last week, one child ended up on the wrong bus and in another case, a 3-year-old student, this little girl right here was two hours late getting home because the driver missed the stop. transportation director laurie carter evans apologized for recent mistakes. in a video statement that she

posted on youtube. >> thousands of students are transported safely and on time to the correct destination. each school day twice a day. however, when any error occurs, i assure you that we investigate and address each case. issuing disciplinary action when necessary. >> disciplinary action was taken. carter evans said any parents with questions should call the district's transportation office. right now, police are asking for your help as they search for a man accused of trying to abduct a woman in fairfax county. officers say the man grabbed her and tried to force her into a car last week. the investigation happening now and the scary part about this is it happened right there in broad daylight. roz: 11:30 in the morning. police are hoping this case serves as a warning to people who live in this area. but they're also hoping to talk to that good samaritan who helped foil this attack.

fairfax county police say the brazen attempted abduction happened along this stretch of buckman road. 11:30 the morning of august 27. this is the newly released sketch of the suspected attacker. investigators say he stepped out from between two parked cars as the woman walked down the road. grabbed her. and tried to drag her into a silver four-door sedan. the woman fought back and it was only because of passerby stopped to help free her that she got away. >> very scared. in this area. roz: scary but not shocking says this woman. she told us she was attacked in that same area in broad daylight last summer. >> i'm not surprised. last year, i was walking with my sister and my friend. and someone just jumped at me and grabbed my chest. and then they ran. roz: the area is not far off richmond highway. and has fairly heavy traffic. still, the suspect was bold

enough to strike mid morning. some residents suspect he may not live around here. >> a transient area. there's a lot of passenger traffic. you know, people from all over. roz: but the news is enough to keep some schools here a bit on edge. >> be safe anywhere or any time of the day and a scary thing to think about. roz: now, again, fair farks police will talk to anybody about this case but talk to that good samaritan and hoping he saw something that might help them solve this case. we're live in alexandria, i'm roz plater, abc 7 news. >> roz, thank you. sad news for the g.w. university community. the body of a missing student now has been found. nick upton disappeared while swimming in south africa. the 19-year-old junior was studying abroad at the university of cape town. the connecticut navy was on men's rogue team and also belonged to a fraternity. tonight's tough questions for d.c.'s mayor after the death of a 5-year-old boy.

this is the story we first reported to you last night. that little boy had a medical issue at a home on hillside road southeast. put the nearest ambulance was seven miles away. muriel bowser, said they would increase the peak hours from 39 to 49 and yesterday there were only 39. the city says it tried to reach 49 but that's not always the case. >> we were trying to make sure we have that number of apparatus available each and every day. that is not a point that we are at today. >> yesterday, a fire truck had to drive the baby boy part of the way to the hospital and ambulance eventually met that truck. the baby later died. d.c. police have arrested man two say sexually assaulted women. he is facing criminal charges tonight and police say he attacked two women in northeast. and is also behind three robberies. all of the crimes happened as the victims walked from metro stations. police say they caught him

thanks to help from the public after they released this surveillance video showing him earlier in the week. rescue. 7 a dramatic prince george's county police officer and a firefighter arrived first on the scene after a crash left a man trapped in a burning car. the officers used the batons to bash out the window and pulled the guy unconscious out. the victim did suffer serious burns but we're told he's expected to be ok. well, words of anticipation from pope francis on his first trip to the united states. tonight, 20/20 a virtual audience between the pope and americans in three cities. the pontiff says he is filled with hope as prepares for the historic visit and the pope explained why the trip is important to him. >> for me, it's very important to meet with you all. with the citizens of the united states who have your history,

jonathan: the redskins are making a change at fedex field after a pricey policy sparked anger from fans. the fans who are not season ticketholders were being charged $50 envelope fees to use will call. abc 7 got some angry tweets from fans who discovered this last night. it turns out this has been a rule or a practice since 2006. now we're told the policy and the fee are being dropped. but that means fans who are not season ticketholders will no longer be able to use the will

call window. go figure. another brewing controversy in the nfl. team owners want to talk about changing roger goodell's role in disciplining players. this is all according to "the washington post." and it comes after a series of player scandals including tom brady's infamous deflategate controversy. the owners will meet again next month. there's no word on exactly how goodell's role could be re-evaluated or even changed. and tomorrow is the university of maryland's home football opener. for the first time fans who would like a beer, they will be able to buy one inside the stadium. the school's president supported the controversial plan to sell beer. prince george's county regulators gave the ok back in july. to sell beer. the terps are hosting richmond at noon tomorrow and again if it's warm, you can have a cold beer. 7 is on your side with a parenting alert. kids who are keeping secrets on their phones. and they're doing it probably without you even knowing about it. here's how. they can hide photos and texts behind apps that appear to be innocent. the disguise like a calculator

long work hours increase the chances of early death by 20%. by far the biggest stressor is worry over possibly losing your job. so try and keep that in check if you can. how about this one? a big catch in st. mary's county, maryland, and this one didn't get away. we got the picture of it. hanging upside down. there it is. this is at that bull shark. it was caught last night. this thing is anywhere from eight and 11 feet depending on who's measuring. the catch was made on the potomac in the area of colton's point. the family hauled the shark in using a net. and here's the scary part about this bull shark with those really sharp teeth. the shark can swim in fresh water. >> that's reassuring. jonathan: your kid is jumping in, there's no shark here. there's no shark. that's fresh water. >> scary stuff out there. they caught one. jonathan: one less to worry about. steve: the weather nothing to quore about to for this weekend. low humidity. slightly cooler temperatures. jonathan: nice. steve: it works out perfectly for holidays. so can't ask for more than that. but the heat and humidity is back. just in time as everyone heads

the west of us. this is a back door cold front. it moves across the mid atlantic. nighttime lows range from the upper 60's, suburban areas, inside the capital beltway, talking around 70. to 73 degrees. inside the district, looking at around 74 to 75. so a little bit warmer as you head into the district. for the overnight hours. along with a limb bit of added humidity. here it is. the forecast. for the next 36 hours. here's that back door cold front. that sweeps on through. toward the south and west. cooler, drier air will funnel in. now, it's not going to last very long. only tomorrow into the day on sunday. and by monday, labor day, the heat, humidity, it is back. so highs tomorrow around 84 degrees. we will see a few morning clouds. otherwise, partly cloudy skies. a nice day to head to the golf course. swimming. take advantage of that pool that will remain open for the weekend. and then probably close on monday after labor day. beach forecast, middle 70's. saturday and sunday near 80 on monday. look at the surf temperatures near 80 for ocean city and

jonathan: this is an adorable story. but this is going to be quite the challenge for some teachers. 11 sets of twins are starting kindergarten at the same center. that includes seven sets of twin brothers and sisters. the twins all started school in different classes. the principal says it is so that they can develop their own identities and make new
