abc7 at 11:00 starts right now. >> first at 11:00, scandal for he loudon county school of supervisors. shawn williams resigned this afternoon. it came hours after he was arrested in broadland and charged with simple assault and unlawful industry. roz? roz: williams was released from custody. some of his neighbors called a sad end to what appeared to be a promising career in politics. of n williams faces charges unlawful industry. neighbors said the trouble began after a block party. deputies were called sunday morning and williams was arrested. he's accused of pushing his way

into a neighbor's home and then pushing the neighbor during the dispute. >> it's shocking. you don't expect that from an elected official. roz: unfortunate will, it has become clear that he has a serious substance abuse problem. i believe he should focus full time on getting the help that he needs. and by early afternoon williams had handed in his resignation. >> i was kind of surprised and when i heard it, i was just disapointed. roz: no one answers the door at his home. he was elected to represent the broad run district. earlier this year he dropped out of the race after talking publically about his past problems with alcohol. >> it's a sad situation. it's unfortunate for loudoun county. the former marine works as an attorney for the sprint corporation. roz: the chairman can make an interim appointment but there is

him. he's a write-in candidate for the november may oriole race. he lost the democratic primaries by only 312 votes. the deadline has past for him to runs an independent so he's now going the write-in route. many of the presidential candidates will spend labor day on the road stumping for votes and this comes as a new poll shows hillary clinton trailing bernie sanders in new hampshire. in iowa she's losing the head-to-head matchup against jeb bush and donald trump. among republicans, trump is still on top drawing 30% support. don't expect to see -- >> i think donald trump as a republican nominee for president. i do think it's weird. i said this about six weeks ago. >> don't expect to see donald trump on the campaign trail because he is taking a break until tuesday. coming up, tom brady talking to reporters for the first time since that deflategate ruling.

kellye: no days off or vacations for police in charlotte, north carolina. officers are being called back to work during their time off after five people were killed in shootings over the weekend. the victims include a 7-year-old boy who was killed during a birthday party, another child and two adults at the party were hurt but they're expected to survive. a gunman ambushed two police officers in las vegas as they waited in the stoplight. the shooter ran away but was caught after a short chase. police have not disclosed a possible motive. vegas officers started riding patrol cars in pairs when another officer was shot in the leg. more than 10,000 syrian refugees are in southern germany after fleeing violence in their homeland. pope francis are urging churches to take in refugees and saying

the vatican is sheltering two families. they will address the issue when it meets this week. the indianapolis zoo was on lockdown this morning after a cheetah escaped from its enclosure. we're told that the cheetah went up behind a fence and to a landscape area. all of the guests were held in safe areas until the cheetah could be placed back into its enclosure. it's unclear how the animal escaped. patriot quarterback tom brady is ready to move on and focused on thursday's game against the steelers. that's what he told the media ter last week's deflate-gate ruling. tom: anything that's happened over the last seven months, obviously i've had a lot of personal feelings but i don't care to share many of those. i really care what i need to do going forward. kellye: a judge overturned brady's four-game suspension for
