kellye: straight ahead, metro makes major changes. plus, the clock is changing as the government tries to avoid it second shot down in two years. and as the season comes close to ending, the fireworks off the field for the nationals. abc 7 news at 11:00 starts now.

metro is making some major rush-hour service changes this week. this will come a week after the fire near the stadium armory station that has train slowing down along the section of track. roz plater has the details. kellye, the latest changes were announced late today. there is no signage yet, but they are supposed to start tuesday morning. on the orange, silver, and blue line, there are some changes that you need to know about. starting tuesday, stadium armory will be served by a blue line trains only during the weekday rush hour. orange and silver line trains pass through the station but will not stop from the time the system opens at 10 a.m. >> it's getting complicated. : the additional disruption

comes after a transformer fire last week. metro has sustained power to from otherory substations further away that are at capacity. plans to offer free shuttle buses to affect it rush-hour passengers, but the agency says the skip stop strategy will ease congestion for tens of thousands more. the new change comes on top of what is construction of a new substation that could take six months. iss of another disruption not something passengers wanted to hear. >> that's a metro talk. they are leaning on me at my job, but i cannot tell them that. you want to build and more time into your commute. friday, metro began running the rush-hour trains every eight minutes instead of six minutes. live in southeast, roz plater, abc 7 news. kellye: stay a step ahead of the

morning commute with julie wright. her traffic reports are weekday mornings on good morning washington. new information on the deadly bus crash on a seattle bridge. a fifth college student has died from injuries sustained in the crash. why asb is investigating charter bus and a duck boat tour vehicle collided. investigators say that the duck boat did not have any axle repairs that was recommended two years ago. >> ntsb learned that the duck boat vehicle was in an accident in 2005. there was a potential safety related concern in 2013. the duck boat involved in the crash was an army surplus vehicle built in 1945. at least 16 people remained hospitalized from the crash, one of them in critical condition.

the number of people on the district killed this year is 117, and the latest murder on the list is still unsolved. it happened just before midnight . d.c. police say that three men were shot, one of them, 50-year-old thomas stalling, died. anybody with information is asked to call the police. tickingw, the clock is on congress in the face of a possible government shutdown. lawmakers have just 72 hours to reach a deal. it looks like friday's announcement by house speaker john boehner that he plans to step down make clear the way for a deal. -- may clear the way for a deal. >> john boehner being a lame-duck speaker allows him to pass the bill. kellye: on "face the nation," speaker boehner says he expects the senate to pass a continuing

resolution this week. a potential shakeup in the race for the white house. news and wall street journal poll has donald trump and ben carson in a statistical tie. among democrats, the same poll found that hillary clinton's lead over senator bernie sanders is seven points. if vice president joe biden does clinton'sthe race, lead grows to 15 points. representatives of bobby jindal's campaign or denying claims that he plans to drop out. sources,cites reporting the louisiana governor will bow out of the race. now,eveloping right parties in spain have won a majority in regional parliamentary elections. the party say that it will allow them to declare independence. spain's government has pledged

university of maryland parking garage on campus for a super moon total lunar eclipse watch party. we were hoping to get a fantastic double feature, but unfortunately as we look up, there is a lot of cloud cover. we are in luck, we have a live stream from nasa, coming from marshall space flight center in huntsville, alabama. this is the live stream. you get a sense of why people are so excited. essentially, the earth is right now in between the moon and the sun, when the moon is at its closest to earth. the shadow that is being cast upon the moon actually has a and thebrown hue to it moon appears to be about 15% larger and 30% brighter. and here is why there is that red hue. >> it's because the earth has an atmosphere. that is still some light

is coming around or through the atmosphere, around the europe, so it reflects -- around the refracts it reflects, through the atmosphere. because it is sunlight, it is mostly the red light that makes its way through and shines on to the moon. live, with the live stream from nasa. one more time, getting a sense, they say the peak should last another 10, 15 minutes. we also get a sense of why this is so rare as we wrap up. the last time we had a super inn total lunar eclipse was 1982. the previous one was 1910. the next one will be in 2033. live on the campus of the university of maryland college park, jay korff, abc 7 news.

kellye: thank you. then it is a great opportunity for you to share photos. devon says he has gotten some photos. devon: we share this on our website and facebook. we have seen some photos. earlier when this began, the clouds were clearing off, but then the clouds started to build back. together, we radar get a few breaks in the clouds. thee the event going on, total eclipse, the lunar eclipse, a full blood moon. also a harvest moon. it was the greatest that 10:47 because we already reach the total eclipse. the east wind has kicked in. the clouds, south to north movement, and then the wind shifted.

kellye: winning the web tonight, this guy who thought he would take a lighter to a spider when he was pumping gas. you can hear the driver asked, is that a spider, before goes up in flames. an alert clerk shot off the pump and called the fire department. the man was not injured, but his car and gas pump had major damage. no word on the fate of the spider.
