on your side. leon: a nine-year-old girl shot by a bb gun on her school bus in fredericksburg. othersnts say that four were shot in the leg as an 11-year-old pulled the trigger. leon: parents are demanding answers. richard reeve spoke with family members and has the details. what have you learned about this? , you can imagine the parents of this little girl were very upset. she came through the door of her home and said she was shot on her school bus. now they would like to find out why they had to find this out from their daughter. also concerned about what if this had been more serious than just a bb rifle. nine-year-old sophia still has a welt from the frightening ordeal. >> we heard it hitting the metal of the seat. richard: that banging on the bus

ride home turned out to be a plastic bb size pellet from an airsoft gun. hours later, they got a phone call from the school principal. >> another student had brought in the air soft gun to school and had been shot. she wanted to know of she was ok. richard: the school principal said it was an 11-year-old boy. sophia said that she heard the sound of the boy lying down come shooting at students. stop while i was getting shot five times in my leg. richard: the youngster says the driver tried to take the pellet gun away. he refused to give it up and put it back in his backpack. >> the fact a kid could have a weapon in school all day. richard: hours later, they got the call. >> what would you do if it was your kid or it was a real gun? richard: on the bus, i feel

officers are still searching for him, but they say there is no threat to the public. developing now, cocaine hidden in a toilet, thousands of cash stashed in a jacket. the police have arrested a d.c. government staffer in connection with the drug bust. tom roussey is live with the investigation. tom? tom: leon, according to the d.c. sanderssite, lorenzo works out of the third level of the wilson building, but tonight he is on administrative leave, not coming back tomorrow either after a big raid on his apartment netted a big amount of drugs. inside of this apartment building in southeast, there are marks on the door. park police say they knocked it down with a sledgehammer. the narcotics unit and swat team raid happened early tuesday morning. inside the apartment were d.c. government employee lorenzo sanders and a lot of drugs. they included 60-plus grams of suspected cocaine in two bags

recovered from the toilet, 60 grams more recovered from the toilet trap. the police found five crack cash, and00 in numerous ski masks. and a statement, the mayor's office indicated that sanders will not be answering his city phone soon, if ever. he is on administrative leave, and the city is starting the process to try to fire him. the balserent says, " administration does not tolerate employees who violate the public's trust. we have made mr. sander's workspace available to the police." while the police yesterday were home in lorenzo sanders' southeast, they were also rating his son's home in prince george's county, where they

found a smaller amount of drugs and a pistol. live outside the wilson building in northwest, tom roussey, abc 7 news. a howard county police officer charged with dui. corporal cory britain left the scene of a crash that injured a woman in prince george's county last night. the 13 year veteran of the department has been placed on administrative leave. howard county police will conduct an internal investigation. celebrity chef and restaurant are jose andres is now countersuing donald trump for $8 million. according to court documents, said the republican presidential candidate is to blame for his restaurant falling apart. he withdrew from the project because of comments trump made about immigrants. $10p is suing andres for million. stay tuned. leon: outrage in mclean over a

gun store, right next door to an elementary school. parents are fuming. the store owner says he is operating a legal business. jay korff is live with what became a heated exchange. this issue is really in the spotlight right now, and some folks actually brought guns to the meeting tonight? right, they were legally able to carry, and they did. some say it was a show of force. other say it is their legal right to do that. .his is the gun shop in mclean the reason why some of these folks are up set is it is just a stones throw away from a school on the other side of those trees. you don't often see people carrying firearms into a community meeting in which school safety is being discussed, but this emotional gathering in mclean brought parents -- >> it should not be around the school. they should be a gun free school

zone. jay: against gun shop supporters. >> guns are part of american culture. the mclean citizens association is trying to figure out what they can do about the gun store controversy. >> they have been operating about 10 days. they opened last month to protests, located near franklin sherman elementary school. >> i don't think we pose any threat to the school. jay: she said the store is in full compliance with the law. they only sell guns and will oversee this. they do not have a gun range. open about our regulations and background checks. we are an upstanding business. jay: they say it is not about gun rights but the rights of their children to be safe at school. >> it is not an issue of them to have a business. i think it justifies common

sense to have a school. >> we do not plan to move anywhere. i don't know about you, i don't like moving. jay: as far as the meeting tonight, the mclean citizens association set up a committee to study what if anything they can do about the shop at this location. keep in mind, from a legislative perspective, they do not have anything they can do legislatively against the gun shop. alison: in the wake of a massacre at a community college in oregon, senate democrats will introduce a bill aimed at reducing gun violence with expanded background checks and provisions to stop domestic abusers from getting guns. republicans are writing their own bill, which has the support of the national rifle association. leon: changing gears, what a beautiful evening and beautiful day. this fall is getting off to a
