>> good morning on this thursday. i'm reena ninan. >> i'm phillip mena. everyone, of course, talking about the lamar odom tragedy. >> jushoif. my heart goes out to them and also khloe kardashian who was in the process of filing for divorce but clearly cares so much about him. >> everyone said he's such a good guy. the former nba star remains in a las vegas hospital this morning. >> we're learning more about his stay at a nevada brothel. odom was there on a open-ended reservation in what is described is as the establishment's best vip suite. >> we know what may have led to him being found unconscious. all the details from abc's lana zak. >> reporter: new details emerging into what may have left two-time nba champion lamar odom in a coma and on life support. >> 911, where is your emergency. >> we need an ambulance. >> tuesday afternoon, employees at a state licensed brothel in nevada discovered the former reality show star unconscious in his room. >> hurry, please, because he's got blood coming out of his

nose. white stuff coming out of his mouth. we can't get him to wake up. >> still alive. ambulance came. police came. they immediately said this is not looking good. >> reporter: wednesday, the local sheriff revealed the 911 calls and says people confirmed odom had been using drugs. >> the male had been using cocaine. they also informed dispatch he had used up to ten tabs of sexual performance enhancer supplements. >> reporter: investigators are now waiting for blood test results. odom rose to fame as a key member of the champion l.a. lakers alongside friend kobe bryant. in 2009, he married khloe kardashian. the pair had since divorced but still keep in touch as seen on i'm on high alert for lamar h because anything i think will set him to spiral. >> reporter: tmz captured this vid yoef odom's ambulance arriving at a hospital. khloe kardashian along with kim and mom kris rushed to his side and odom's nba friends are

sending out their support. >> lamar odom is one of the greatest people i've ever known. i'm obviously hoping that he can pull through this. >> lana zak, abc news, new york. just heart breaking. neighbors in upstate new york say they're shaken by the beating death of a teenage boy by his parents in a church. 19-year-old lucas leonard died and his 17-year-old brother was injured during the attack. investigators say it was part of spiritual counseling at the word of life church near syracuse. >> both brothers were continually subjected to physical punishment over the course of several hours in hopes that each would confess to prior sins and ask for forgiveness. >> six people including the parents and the victim's sister have been charged so far. more arrests are expected. >> now to the big airport delays across the country. the frustrating backups blamed on a problem with the department of homeland security's computer

system. the outage lasted about 90 minutes and the ripple effect much longer. wabc has more from jfk airport. >> reporter: welcome to the usa. now stand in line. passengers who spent hours on overseas flights found themselves trapped in a windowless maze at kennedy airport and airports across the country after a key computer system that checks passengers against terror watch lists simply failed. >> it's crazy. i never saw anything like this. >> reporter: things were worse upstairs at departures where airlines couldn't check anyone in either. passengers tweeted pictures of the miserable scene. >> the people up there were all cursing. there was people that couldn't walk. it was crazy. it was crazy. people in a wheelchair that were crying waiting there for hours. >> reporter: finally bleary eyed travelers were able to emerge from the customs hall. their families had waited and waited to pick them up. for maria who dropped off a family for a flight to italy, the whole ordeal was impossible to believe. >> they should have had a better

system. like another backup or something. >> reporter: homeland security officials say they used alternative procedures to process international travelers while the outage was going on. but one customs officer told me they really just shut the whole place down until the computers could come back online. in a statement customs and border protection says it has no indication this outage was malicious in nature. abc news, new york. crews in central texas are battling a fast-moving wildfire which has destroyed at least nine homes. the fire in bastrop county is only 10% contained and highs are expected to be in the 90s today with gusty winds. nearly 200 homes are still threatened and several neighborhoods have been evacuated. crews near denver are keeping an eye on this brush fire which is now under control. residents had been told they should be ready to evacuate but that order has now been lifted. about 33 acres were burned. donald trump is now taking aim at bernie sanders.

trump told a crowd in richmond, virginia, that can he is pushing hillary clinton further to the left of her policies and said sanders should be called a socialist/communist. a fight broke out between trump supporters and a group protesting his stance on immigration. the demonstrators were escorted out by security. hillary clinton held a rally last night attended by thousands of supporters in las vegas. she touted the democratic debate and bashed republicans for not being able to work together. it's your voice, your vote. and abc's cecilia vega is following clinton's campaign. >> reporter: as hillary clinton made a post debate victory lap, her team on the offensive. her campaign chairman saying, "at this point, joe biden needs to make up his mind." >> hillary clinton. >> reporter: other top democrats thinking the same, as clinton gets high marks for her center stage performance, revealing a campaign strategy to come. how she'll address that lingering e-mail controversy? by trying to shift the focus.

with that assist from rival vermont senator bernie sanders. >> let me say something that may not be great politics, but i think the secretary is right. and that is that the american people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn e-mails. >> reporter: she's also setting the stage for her trip to capitol hill next week to testify before the house benghazi committee hoping to solidify her standing in the polls, she's trying to show a likable side even when she's talking about people who don't actually like her. >> and within minutes of sanders' e-mail remark his campaign clipped it down and sent it out in a fund-raising e-mail. they say they shattered fund-raising record raising more than $1 million in the first few hours after the debate. both sides are claiming victory. hillary clinton's campaign calls the debate the best day yet of this campaign. cecilia vega, abc news, las vegas. a pretty cool scene is taking shape on a beach in the miami area.

students at a boseman, montana, high school arrived to find this uninvited guest roaming the halls. yeah, it's a black bear. first spotted on the football field. then somehow it wan derd through an open garage door and into the school. it seemed to be sniffing around lockers perhaps looking for a snack. police helped steer the bear toward a doorway. it took off running.
