friends. it's an overload of adorable. the famous ape and her box of kittens melting hearts all over the world on this friday, october 16th. from abc news, this is "world news now." good morning. on this friday. we begin this half lawyer with the arrest of a suspected hacker with ties to terrorism. >> the suspect who's under arrest in malaysia is accused of hacking into sensitive u.s. computer systems to get the personal information of federal and military employees only to sell it to isis 37 abc's devon dwyer has the details. >> reporter: u.s. authorities say the case is the first of its kind, a suspected hacker in malaysia helping isis terrorists half a world away. investigators say the suspect is a citizen of kosovo who allegedly stole personal information belonging to u.s. service members and federal employees. he was arrested abroad, now the u.s. is trying to extradite him.

officials say the suspect passed the material he hacked to a british man who is considered the social media mastermind of isis. >> an isil operate named hussein is a british national who was recruiting western targets for lone wolf attacks. >> reporter: officials say the stolen personal information of more than a thousand federal employees and military members were put on an isis kill list and posted online. it's a real threat as the fbi director has warned. >> kill where you are. kill anyone. but especially if you could kill people in military uniform or law enforcement uniform and video it, that would be best of all. >> reporter: cyberthreat and sale of federal employees' personal information is a serious crime. the suspect could face a 35-year prison sentence if extradited to the u.s. and convicted. devon dwyer, abc news, washington. new details in the u.s. air strike on a hospital in

afghanistan. the a.p. reports that u.s. special ops knew the facility in kunduz was a hospital but analysts suspected it was being used as a taliban command and control center. 22 people died in the attack. it's not clear if the commanders who called in the air strike knew about the special ops suspicions. >> the taliban takeover of cun dus is just one of the reasons president obama gave for his decision to keep u.s. forces in afghanistan. abc's karen travers reports from washington. >> reporter: president obama explained his shifting time line in afghanistan. >> i believe this mission is vital to our national security interests. >> reporter: near all all of the 9800 u.s. troops currently in afghanistan were supposed to be home by the end of 2016. the president obama will now leave as many as 5500 on the ground. it's a remarkable turn for the president. but he said that while the u.s. presence in afghanistan will continue longer than he planned, it will be a narrow mission.

counter-terrorism operations and training and assisting afghan forces. >> i do not send you into harm's way lightly. it's the most solemn decision that i make. >> reporter: but why the shift in policy? top pentagon officials believed afghan forces weren't ready to operate on their own and there's been a recent surge in violence by the taliban and now isis. taliban fighters took control of a key northern city. afghan forces battled back with support from u.s. air strikes. but one strike was catastrophic. a hospital was hit, 22 people dead including 12 staffers from doctors without boarders. >> we would never intentionally target a protected medical facility. >> president obama insists this decision is not disappointing and while it won't be the last time policy adjustments are made -- >> the cessation of our combat role has not changed? -- but it will still be dangerous. already their year, 25 u.s. service members have lost their

wayne simmons was arrested yesterday and charged with fraud. he made frequent appearances as a commentator on fox news claiming to be an expert in terrorism who spent nearly three decades with the cia. >> we dealt in facts. the trade craft that we learn that we use to develop intelligence is second to no other intelligence agency in the world. >> the charges were filed after simmons allegedly lied on an official government document for contracting jobs and security clearances. court documents say he also had a criminal history that included felony convictions. the republican presidential front-runners are threatening to boycott the next debate. donald trump and ben carson demanding changes to the debate format. and they want it capped at two hours with commercials and want to speak directly to the camera at the open and close. cnbc says it's considering the demands. turning now to the democrats and a new hint from joe biden about a possible run.

a top aide for the vice president sent a letter to former staffers saying if biden enters the race, he will need their race. and he said everything that biden and the president have worked for is at stake. the letter also promised the biden campaign would be optimistic but gave no hint when an announcement might come. as jonathan carl tells us, biden is still playing koyie. >> reporter: joe biden was in full v.p. mode today. at the president's side in the morning, and then, awaiting the president of south korea in the afternoon. but what about the big question? >> are you running for president? >> i will answer in korean. >> reporter: can you just tell us when you'll decide? >> i can't hear you. >> reporter: okay. a little louder? >> have you made your decision yet? >> reporter: nothing? nothing at all? >> i'll tell you what -- good to see you all. >> reporter: a source close to biden says he's nearing a final decision. although after hillary clinton's strong debate performance, fellow democrats are growing increasingly impatient.

senator barbara boxer, a clinton supporter, who in august said biden should do whatever is in his heart, is now telling politico, "i just don't think there's a rationale for his campaign. i think he should endorse hillary." clinton got a big endorsement from a member of the obama/biden cabinet. housing secretary julian castro, widely speculated as a possible clinton running mate. >> she has always, always been there for us and today, we're here for her. >> reporter: so, what is biden thinking? his younger brother, frank, told "the palm beach post" today, he's having a, quote, dialogue between his head and his heart and he's not being swayed by outside factors. several sources close to biden say he remains jibely undecided that he just hasn't made up his mind yet. jonathan carl, abc news, the white house. the final four in baseball's playoffs are set. now that the mets have beaten the donors in the final game of their series. new york got off to a good start, scoring a run on daniel

murphy's first inning hit. then with the mets down 2-1, murphy scored in the fourth to tie it at two. he came up again in the sixth inning and nailed what would would be the game winning so low home run. the mets win 3-2 and they will now host the cubs in game one of the national league championship series starting tomorrow night. i love this story. you know all mets fans are happy about the success. but there's one who is probably a little bit more ecstatic than the others. meet add line rousseau. she just turned 100 years old on wednesday. >> she was originally a brooklyn dodgers fan, but when had he left for los angeles, add line said good riddance. so she supported the mets since they started in 1962. and like many mets fans she has no love for new york's other team. the yankees. >> never had any use for them. never. never. >> why? >> why? because for the series, laughing
