right now, we are following breaking news in montgomery county. a two alarm fire burning at a four-story apartment building. you are looking at pictures from news choppers seven of above. it seems the fire may be out at least from the outside. this is happening on manchester place at silver springs. information is still coming into the newsroom at this hour. we are told the fire was at the top floor. firefighters may be in the process of rescuing some residents. we have a crew headed there right now. stay with us right here and we will bring you more information as we get it. to another top story.

an 18-year-old girl killed in a horrific crash in montgomery county. it happened on route 29 and new hampshire avenue in white oak. john gonzalez has been on the scene all morning long. he has new information about the young victim. john: the collision reconstruction is on the scene here hours after this horrific fatal pedestrian accident. you can see a number of police officers and investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened here, what the speed was, where the pedestrian was at the point of impact. the team has been identified as michelle hoya, a student at montgomery college. from where we are standing, it does not appear that this female victim was at a crosswalk. it does not look like there is a crosswalk anywhere along this stretch. we want to show you some video of the vehicle that was involved in this. a brown four-door toyota camry.

extensive front end damage. it happened right near the oak leaf drive. >> the female was crossing route 29 in the area of oakley and was struck by a south on vehicle. that vehicle and driver remain on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. >> i feel like other families going to school and dropping their kids, there is no crosswalk or anything at this site at least. it is dangerous. officeru can see the escorting this female across this busy route 29. investigators still trying to figure out what happened and if speed played a factor. the fire department telling me they have had about a dozen fatal history and accidents in this county. now, wedeveloping right are working to find out what exactly happened during an alleged assault in the district. police found a man unconscious

in an apartment this morning. we are taking a closer look at the investigation. >> a person trying to break into an apartment unit here was injured by the residents inside. take a look behind me. this happened along the 3600 block of eli place. here is what we know so far. we are told the suspect did not actually break into the unit area residents opened the door and the suspect arrested in trying to rob the person. residents fought the intruder and the intruder was injured. when we arrived on scene, and amulets took off a few seconds later. quite possible the intruder was inside. we are told at that point around 7:00 this morning that the person inside the ambulance was unconscious w. who saidto a resident

she has been robbed before on the third floor in broad daylight. she said the person tried to rob anything she can get her hands on. she is considering moving because of this. this is an ongoing investigation. we will let you know as soon as we get more details on what exactly happened here this morning. d.c. police also investigating a deadly stabbing at a nightclub. it happened around 1:00 this morning in the northeast near union market area police say the victim died from injuries but have not released any other details about his death or what led to the stabbing. we are working to find out more information so stay with abc seven and wjla.com for any updates. we are learning more about a deadly attack at a school in sweden. a teacher and student were killed. several others injured.

some rain showers in the mix. when we come back with our complete forecast, we will look at the seven day forecast. also we will look specifically at when the rate will be most likely in our complete forecast minutes away. >> thank you. a family of five now i've their home as of this massive fire this morning in gaithersburg. the smoke could be seen for miles. suzanne kennedy has more on the challenge the firefighters faced trying to get it all under control. suzanne: the large fire started around 7:00 this morning. take a look behind me on damascus road. you can see the fire is still smoldering. 75 firefighters responded to this two alarm blaze between root 124 and route 90 for. -- 94. there have been no injuries. there are very few fire hydrants.

you can see there is still a significant presence of firefighters. authorities dealing with it here this morning. this is a single-family home. part of the roof is collapsed. three adults and two children are displaced as a result of the fire. authorities are just now beginning to investigation. all they know at this point is that it started in the garage. four people sent to the hospital after a fiery crash on the icc this morning. this is the scene this morning. it happened right around route 29. a pickup truck ended up in the back of a tractor-trailer. the truck caught fire. four people suffered nonlife threatening injuries. no word yet on exactly what caused the crash. why we get a check of the rest of the road conditions right now? danielle has a look at the problem spots. danielle: looks like we have some good news after the two previous batches.

this is a look at route 29 without the traffic moving away from you. traffic has returned to normal after the fatal collision in the area just south of new hampshire avenue. traffic is moving a lot better now. you see the earlier delay did extend our back --far back. on the icc right where the crash was, that really has returned to normal. the eastbound lanes were shut down at one point but traffic is moving at speed on both sides of the icc in the area just past new hampshire avenue. that is good news there. take a look at the camera on georgia avenue. a crash working just north of this point. police activity in the area. the outer loop seeing some traffic right now. the right lane is blocked with some road work. much. thank you so coming up on abc seven news, new details on a traffic shooting --

with brad. brad: the good news is this fire is out. you can see this was a four-story brick building. the fire didn't get into the attic.you can see some damage of their . did get into the attic. you can see some damage up there. the installation rained down on him. sooty conditions when i got here. tough to fight these fires. we are told there are 12 apartments, 12 families displaced. the good news is no injuries. no serious injuries. they did not really have rescues here but they did help people get out of the burning building. it was burning. flames were really pouring out of the attic. heat coming out and reaching into the sky. we are told the entirety of this building is now going to be condemned until it can be rebuilt. an interesting sad fact is this

is the third major fire in montgomery county just today. fortunately, no injuries. this is the sort of thing we see. we saw seven fires in one day the other day when we start getting to this heating season. too early to say what the cause of the fire was. the bottom line is it took two alarms to get it under control.no major injuries . 12 families this place --12 families displaced. jummy: two other news now. the suspect in a shocking road rage incident in new mexico killed a four-year-old girl. he was arrested yesterday after an anonymous tip led investigators to him. police say the little girl was in the backseat of her father's pickup truck on an albuquerque highway when a sedan pulled up next to them and opened fire. it allegedly started because torres and garcia's father kept cutting each other of the
