soon. the sad news comes as the nba was about to start a new season. the former wizards coach flip saunders has died at the age of 60. he was diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma in june and took an absence from the team after complications arose during his recovery. than 650 gamese in nearly two decades. incoached at three years washington before he returned to minnesota as president of basketball operations in 2013. he was slowly bringing the timberwolves back to relevance as the president, coach, and part owner before he got sick. reacted with touching messages mourning the death of saunders. instagramtook to saying, quote, the sting of losing another loved one to cancer does not get any easier. my thoughts and prayers are with the saunders family. coach saunders guided me into this league.

nba world lost flip saunders. he was well-liked by almost everyone he came across. a huge loss for the nba. kellye: thank you so much. coming up a little bit later in sports, a huge win for the redskins. they came back to beat the bucs in the final minutes of the game. robert burton will join us live from fedex field with the highlights. developing right now in prince george's county, the investigation into who shot and killed a woman outside the fort washington road arena sunday night. a man who was also shot was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. police say they are following several leads but they are asking anyone with information to still contact them. also in prince george's county police are investigating a domestic related murder-suicide. it happened this morning on joist in way -- joyceton way in largo.

haveis point, no names been released. in the district tonight at the search for the gunman who shot five people, including children -- it happened just after midnight on wheelaround southeast -- stephen tschida with more. vehicle still no description. i did talk with the police representative about 12 minutes ago, said in this case there are no changes. that means those five individuals who were shot in the strike by shooting, including three juveniles, are still alive, but in the neighborhood a lot of frighten people there tonight. just after midnight, someone drove along wheeler road in southeast d.c. and opened fire on a group of kids and adults. >> 8 to 10 gunshots run out. stephen: the injured, three females and two males. no ages on the juveniles. >> words started getting around that 2 or 3 girls had gotten

shot. gunshot the injuries, wounds to hands, legs, and arms. i'll be victims still alive and conscious when taken to the hospital. the shootings left residents of this neighborhood with a growing sense of dread. some here afraid to go out at night. >> it's getting to be out of hand. it's getting to be too much. >> it's crazy. it could be anyone. it is scary to walk out your house rightstephen: some here echoed the fbi director who voiced his believe that protest against police may keep some officers from doing their jobs. alicia would praises police in her neighborhood but worries they are becoming less aggressive. >> they are acting like they're trying to stay in good waters and not deal with anything too crazy. stephen: there's no data to back up that believe are that suspicion. in the nation's capital, as

homicide -- the homicide rate rose over the summer, the police presence was much stronger on city streets. obviously some police would disagree with that assertion. stephen tschida, abc 7 news. kellye: two metro employees are being called heroes for catching a robbery suspect who was armed with a loaded semi-automatic handgun on a green line train yesterday. metro says the man robbed a man at the anacostia station, then got on the northbound green line train where he got into an argument with other passengers. metro employees on the tray notice the commotion and try to intervene. after a struggle, one of the workers was able to restrain him while the other worker called for help. no one was hurt. are of thousands of runners getting some much-needed rest tonight after taking part in the 40th annual marine corps marathon. kevin lewis spoke with some of the spectators cheering on the runners through arlington and d.c. two u.s. marine osprey

aircraft delivered a moving fly over for a veteran -- for veteran marine and paratroopers tucked through the open sky, touting massive american flags. the weather, soggy. kerri kenney of gaithersburg kept track of his son with the help of a cell phone app. >> i dropped him off early this morning. i was up at the crack of don with him. kevin: this year's race includes runners from all 50 states and 59 countries. the youngest participant, 14. the oldest, 87. >> this is her third marathon. john cheeringnd on their daughter, who's hoping to qualify for the boston marathon. >> lots of hard work. people that have big challenges today.

kellye: five people are critical tonight one day after a car plowed into spectators at oklahoma state university's homecoming parade. that crash killed four people. 47 others were hurt. family members of those still hospitalized describe the scene late this afternoon. could only thing i related to its may maybe some type of bombing or something.

nobody knew what was going on. all we were really concerned with was our family and friends and seeing everybody that was injured. kellye: the woman accused of causing the crash is expected in court tomorrow. she's accused of drunk driving. new video giving a first-hand prison that freed 70 hostages that left an american soldier dead. the video comes from an american soldier's helmet camera inside a prison in northern iraq. you see soldiers leave the prisoners out of cells and into a helicopter. at one point you see the black isil flag on the wall. the pentagon is said to expect more us-led raids like this one against isil in iraq a familiar name joined the crowded race. to be baltimore mayor. nick mosby announced his candidacy today.
