>> now abc 7 news at noon, on your side. jummy: keep your rain boots in the umbrella handy. we're following scattered showers expected throughout the day. and even some thunderstorms could pop up this afternoon. doug hill is tracking off from the storm watch weather center. doug: kind of cloudy and gray across the area. gusty winds outside the weather center. let's show you the story in rockville.

this is the rockville campus at montgomery college. rain continues. we will have breaks in the rain pattern from time to time. that is the story through the morning and it will continue that way into the afternoon. we see the possibility that later this afternoon we may have a little longer break or a move -- more profound break. temperatures can reach near 70 degrees. there is no shortage of moisture from the south and the sun from the atlantic ocean. they key weather maker is the cold front to the west. that moves in late this afternoon and through this evening. then we see some heavier downpours and possibly a thunderstorm or two in spots. futurecast centered at midday. heavy rain stills the west but as we get through the afternoon more showers with more breaks in between. don't be surprised to the sun tries this -- did he grew. this line ofning heavy rain and a few thunderstorms can move through with a cold front. want to get to the overnight things will start to clear out a little bit. some breaks in the overcast.

three murders in alexandria. virginia bureau chief has been following every twist and turn of this case. he is in the core right now and you can follow his updates live on twitter. abc7jeff --om a howard county man is in custody this new, accused of murdering his own wife. police were called to the 9500 block of glen ridge drive around 11:00. they say jason martin kate when you restore covered in blood and claiming his wife was injured. when police arrived they found carla martin and a basis -- basement with severe injuries. they say a dumbbell was nearby also covered in blood. she was pronounced dead at the hospital. their three children were home of the time did not witness the incident. new this new, we're learning more about a car that slammed

into a house in alexandria last night killing two people. police say the carpet been reported stolen. jeanette has the latest details. reporter: now that the sun is up, we are getting a better look at the path of destruction that this speeding car left behind. it veered off the road and barreled through those trees, came across this front yard, and went through another set of bush's and knocked over a fire hydrant that was here and cap going across this street. and straight into that home. it all happened off of beacon hill road around 8:00 in the evening. fairfax county police say the car was reported stolen. tower cam is for rolling shortly after the crash while the car was inside the home at an angle. one witness says he ran to the car to delete couldn't -- could help. >> i grabbed him and i said wake up. let me help you. i grabbed his shoulder. i had his head in my hand and that is when he woke up. he started reading again.

reporter: one man died at the hospital and another at the scene. they were both in their 20's. no word on if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. neighbors say this keeps happening. >> people come barreling down the hill and they think are going to make the turn. they plow through that yard, the bushes/ . it's like deja vu. reporter: the good news is that the family that lives in the home had left for church 20 minutes before this accident happened. they've been trying to sell the home but it keeps getting harder when accidents like this continue to happen. jeannette reyes, abc 7 news. jummy: now it's time you get a check on the roadways. jamie sullivan is back and she has a look at traffic. welcome back. jimmy: thank you -- : he will definitely need to have the wipers going.

the agency is looking for a new general manager. two finalists reportedly interview yesterday. john gonzalez has the latest. metro has definitely had its fair share of problems over the last few years. breakdowns, serious crime, major delays. this weekend they were announcing they are expecting major delays on all six lines. we are hearing that the transit agency is very close to choosing its new general manager. will this person be able to finally restore the credibility and confidence? we are asking folks at the new carrollton metro station today. the agency has in without a permanent gm since richard sarles retired some 10 months ago. since then it seems that rider frustration is at an all-time high. cities,red to other it's very expensive here.
