shaken up after hearing that the arrest. a parent we talked to said they are glad the student who heard about it came forward. leslie says she got a call from the school today after authorities say a 15-year-old student threatened to bomb brightpoint high school and shoot students. on tuesday a student told the principal the 15-year-old boy told her if she did not accept a gun he was going to bring her and helped carry out his plan, he would shoot her. >> they are going to fear for their safety. every she came forward. reporter: deputies say the 15-year-old brother the threat at school and they say that students and others who overheard it told their parents who in turn reported it to the principal. investigators after executing the search warrant at the home and on his computer, they did not find anyvidence of a written plan. deputies say they found guns in the home but they were secured and locked.

the sky. in aberdeen, brad bell, abc 7 news. alison: it's part of a $2.8 billion project designed to protect our region. are we getting our money's worth? chris papst is in the abc 7 satellite center and he has that part of this story. reporter: that $2.8 billion is just for two surveillance blimps in aberdeen. the one that broke for yesterday cost $1.4 billion to develop and then to ploy. ns.s program is called j-le they were recently deployed by the department of defense specifically to detect cruise missiles. norad, which oversees the project, tells abc 7 they can detect missiles from 340 miles away over the ocean over the

horizon. since being deployed two years ago no missiles haven't spotted, and in 400,000 hours of operation yesterday was the first mishap. broke free is being investigated but some say it does not matter. -- chances of some a somebody being held accountable for this is slim. >> there is no incentive to keep track of these things. there is not much penalty when it disappears. congress has to step in and make it more of a priority. reporter: this is not the first and the department of defense has lost these very expensive equipment. at 6:00 we will go over a few other recent incidents that cost taxpayers in the billions. chris papst, abc 7 news. leon: keeping a close eye on a developing story in gaithersburg. a trash truck caught fire. the flames are out of the damage to rush-hour is still lingering and probably will for some time

reporter: welcome back to abc 7 news. the jury deliberations in the murder trial of charles severance who is accused in the murders of nancy dunning, ron kirby, and ruthanne ludel.

ending about 15 minute to go. jurors going home with no verdict so far. they do have some requests for the judge. they requested the entire list of evidence exhibits presented during the trial. the judge in a charity to provide only specific exhibits when requested. jurors also asking for police reports related to the murder of ruthanne ludado. the judge denying that request saying they had all the evidence they would get in the case. they also asked and received instructionsf jury and office supplies. we don't a look into it too much. these requests suggest they might have a lot more work to do. deliberations resume tomorrow morning at 10:00. jeff goldberg, abc 7 news. limbo, after months in tonight we will know who will be metro's next general manager. will have a full

sam ford is live outside of d.c. superior court to explain. will be: eric postel sentenced tomorrow for these murder of paul danzo. also here will be members of another family, including the mother of a son he killed. a mother who met him after he killed her son. newsd when i heard on the that he took someone else's life, it really hurt me. reporter: she is talking about eric postel, featured in a washingtonian magazine article a few years ago about when he was 15 and started shooting at a rival, missed, and killed her son. >> shot in the chest in front of anacostia high school after a pep rally. reporter: person was a high school football star. an innocent bystander who is loved by the city. she met in for gave his killer
