mustang over there. it had six people in it. to adults in the front, and four children in the back. we are told that is where the injuries were. . three of those children in critical condition one in serious condition and one of the children has been admitted to the intensive care unit. here is the other car involved in the crash. it is a white camaro. there was one occupant in this car. we understand the injuries he suffered are not serious. police investigating, trying to figure out what exactly went on. there was some confusion. we were told the children were in the white car, they were in the black car. we can tell you now in the last minute southbound lane of new hampshire avenue has opened for traffic but it is still a mess. brad bell, abc 7 news. leon: earlier in the evening

washington dc with the motorcade hits the beltway at the height of rush-hour. >> i'm really sick of motorcade. reporter: you can see the president's motorcade traveling through the height of rush hour on wednesday. mr. obama was attending a fundraiser and montgomery county. he traveled across american legion bridge to potomac. extending the typical eight mile back up by two or three miles. >> it's ridiculously poor planning. it took me half an hour actually get home. -- extra to get home. jeff reporter7 jamie sullivan questions the time of the traffic. jamie: we fed fatal accidents, 11 car pileups. this was not a good week, especially with the time change. reporter: she was driving from pennsylvania to virginia when she got stuck in the backup. >> i said bumper to bumper.

it may be too early to tell if it was a bomb that brought down the russian airliner. intelligence experts are wondering if they will need to step up security. for example, could it have been something undetectable by standard screening methods? >> we have to constantly be examining our operations. how we do things. how the bad guys do things so we are one step ahead. reporter: al qaeda affiliates have posted in the past that a bomb could breach security but it would be the first ur isil -- for isil that is claimed responsibly. >> on the basis of their past attempts i think it's logical we conclude that they are carrying out this kind of terror campaign. reporter: the white house says it is considering new safety measures. >> currently the administration is reviewing a number of your tont steps we can take

leon: road rage blaine for a crash in fairfax county. police say elmer king ran his car into a minivan. all of them went crashing into the travelers hotel just inside the beltway. no one was seriously hurt. the motel was a different story. blunt's has ----

family has owned the hotel for six years. >> we will try our best to bounce back. is just a matter what happens. leon: elmer king was charged with a class one misdemeanor for aggressive driving. maureen: there were some scary moments in fairfax county this morning as police tried to track down a driver who fled a traffic stop. it happened or the fairfax county parkway. and officer responding to the scene escaped serious injury when another vehicle struck his cruiser. at the time they were looking for the suspect who it fled on foot. he was caught later thanks to a k 19. -9 team. police and released surveillance pictures of two persons of interest. it happened tuesday afternoon in the 5000 block of bennett road
