>> i'm kendis gibson. we're going to get started with the new security alerts. a growing concerns force air travelers triggered by the russian passenger jet that went down in egypt. >> as early as today, officials here at home are expected to call for beefed up security measures at key airports around the world. the latest from abc's david kerley. >> sources tell abc news that is homeland security is expected to send that directive to airlines flying from foreign airports to the u.s. and that they increase security. that directive may also include increased security requirements for handling baggage inside the u.s. >> the obama administration is reviewing a number of different steps that we can take to enhance security for commercial flights bound for the united states from certain foreign airports. >> reporter: with airlines estimating more than 25 million americans will fly over the thanksgiving holiday, will they see changes at security after the egypt crash? security here is often very different than overseas. in the u.s., carry on bags are screened.

nearly being impaled behind the wheel. this time in new jersey, it was an 18-year-old girl who was just inches from being struck by an eight-foot picket fence post. she hit the gas to avoid another car and wound up plowing through the fence near a school yard that was filled with kids. no one was injured. the cdc says about half of pregnant women gain too much weight. women already overweight or obese are more likely to pile on the extra pounds according to the latest study. that can harm mom and baby. only about a third of women gained the recommended amount of weight and about a fifth gained too little. swallowing a special balloon in a pill may help people lose weight. the ellipse balloon fills up with water to about the size of a grapefruit and makes the patient feel full. no surgery, no sedation required. patients in europe have lost about a third of their excess weight in four months. the ellipse device has not yet been approved for use in this country. >> that's an actual photo of the pill. it's a condition that affects
