come investigators wrapped up their work and reopened chikl llum road. we have learned the van involved in the crash was a church van in wearying -- we are hearing from good samaritans. the aftermath of a fiery crash right before 5 p.m. boom, loud noise. came outside and we saw flames about 20 feet high. and then i guess leaking gas interrupted. say that itgators involved three vehicles -- a car, a pickup truck, and 15 passenger van. preliminary reports are the pickup truck may have struck the car and kept going. >> the vehicle left the scene and continued up road with its tire on fire before crashed into the van.

roz: neighbors began trying to help. >> people were running down the street. the guy who lives right in front of the crash came out with a water hose. roz: then they began pulling victims out of the van. >> i went up to one of the girls and just held her hand. she was crying. we tried to keep her awake and still. roz: a young mother said somebody handed her in injured baby. >> she had a burn on her face. roz: what did you say? >> i started saying john 3:16, and that calmed her down. roz: firefighter say at least a dozen victims were taken to area hospitals, another four pronounced dead, one of them a child. >> i'm still in shock. i've never seen anybody die in front of me. roz: we are warned the number of fatalities could rise, so many
